Hmmmm.... I am puzzled by the negative reviews. Came here after a power walk. So it's me & my sister looking disheveled in workout clothes, carrying coffee. We wandered around, circled the store MANY times. The staff were friendly & helpful. Didn't follow us around, cheerfully answered questions & offered up alternatives/suggestions once they figured out our "style"-- they were not snooty or judgmental at all. Opposite of the experience others have shared. My sister bought one item, I said I'd be back with my daughter later. I'm sure people say that all the time just to relieve the pressure to buy Fast forward 3 hours. I'm back at the store-- "welcome back!" from a few of the sales people. Super helpful with selecting some winter boots. Had advice on loungewear. Very complimentary & friendly again. Walked out with a pair of boots, Birks, PJs, loungewear, a sweater, novelty socks & ZERO REGRETS This is the cutest store in town. It's not the cheapest, but they have good quality, unique items. read more

It is a very cute store. Lots of fun items, very unique! The only thing is--the people who are working here any given day are hit or miss. Fun store. They have a lot of beautiful clothing. Some really nice sweaters, hats, overalls, a section for baby and toddlers, Birkenstocks, leather jackets. Humorous kitchen towels too. It was a bit pricey so I didn't purchase anything and I would've given it 5 stars but I felt like I was being watched like an hawk. Very bizarre feeling. Not sure if she just wanted to make sure I didn't need anything, but after reading some of the other reviews, it appears the other patrons have had the same discomfort. read more

Kinda unfriendly. That's an understatement. Ignored upon entering. Owner, I presume, unfriendly with an obviously fake smile and an attitude of distain at purchase. Young white girl no smile at all and no encouragement to purchase. All she needed to do was give me a little push and voila a sale. I guess she had more important things to do like scrolling on her phone. I really enjoy this store but the vibe is negative. I've spent lots of money here but that doesn't seem to matter. Why so unfriendly? BTW I'm white but not blonde. I think with some effort this store could do a lot more business but hey maybe unfriendly is good for business. read more

Rude and unprofessional staff. If you want to be discriminated and followed check it out! First time visiting big bear with my husband and our new baby. My sister and I spotted some cute baby clothes on the window so we decided to check it out and find something for the baby. Was immediately greeted and followed around by a worker there, I found a big bear onesies at the front and went to show my husband, we both decided to get the baby a book instead so I walked to the front and placed the onesie back. We went to the back to pay for the book and had to ask one of the 4 workers basically staring at us if we could check out, the young woman following me around asked my husband about the onesie, he was confused and said "no just a book" she directly looked at me and rudely said "the onesie you had, where is it?" which I replied "I put it back where I found it at the front" my sister wanted to buy the baby some uggs and other clothes inside but I kept pushing not to after that interaction. Does anyone remember shopping at Sanrio Surprises in their youth and the ladies would follow you around the store? That's how I felt browsing O Koo Ran this morning. I've been shopping here since my teens and always walk out with a purchase. I even bought something online to support local business during the pandemic. But today, despite my ice blonde hair and cute boho winter ensemble, I felt like I was being profiled like the other reviewers. Like WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM?! I tested the staff and walked up the stairs behind the register to browse the shoes and then sale rack. And sure enough, someone followed me. I'd been eyeing a Lack of Color brand, baby blue, wide brimmed hat in there since the spring, but you lost a sale this morning. Half the time in the summer season, it's so busy you're lucky to get a "Hello". So this experience was so unnerving for me. Lastly, you never know who's shopping in your store (celebs, wardrobe stylists, flat landers with money to blow, etc), so I'd definitely fix your attitude before your store ends up doxxed on TikTok. read more

So sad, this place used to be my favorite place to buy things from every time I come to Big Bear and each time I come the staff gets worse. It's more noticeable that they profile people. I walked in excited to make a few purchases, which in all honesty they should be happy about since their items are so expensive I can't imagine they sell that much. Immediately we were greeted with snarky faces and were being followed around the store. My four year old walked in with her cup of ice cream and dropped the smallest dime size drop on the carpet. After being followed around I almost wanted to just ignore it but we are good people so my mom asked if they happen to have a tissue or napkin on hand. The "sweetest" pregnant blond behind the register showing her whole belly (super professional) was so snarky and said she didn't have a napkin but has a paper towel (idk what the need for that comment was besides trying to be rude). She then rolled her eyes and said you'll have to wait until I'm done ringing this person up. My mom decided to get a baby wipe we had and cleaned it up. Still being nice she told the lady so sorry my granddaughter dropped the smallest drop but we cleaned it up and she rolled her eyes, face all red and said "oh thats just great" sarcastically. No thank you or anything. She is so lucky I didn't want to start conflict and get upset on this trip so we walked out without purchasing the few things I was going to get. I hope she is nicer about these things with her baby. To top things off she sent the other employee to follow us all the way out and pretend she had to throw something out in the trash outside. I loooove to browse this store every time I visit Big Bear Lake! Every time I come here, I stock up on some perfumes that I've only been able to find there (ToykoMilk is the brand.. and yes, you can buy it online, too). They also have all of the scents out for sampling, too. Last time I was up, I picked up another new perfume. They also have some contemporary women's apparel and cute gifts for a housewarming (or something like that), too. I believe they are a little higher priced than another store might be... but I've always had good customer service. 2018: 86/100 read more

Went in dressed in Jean's and a cardigan and little boots..I looked fine...they stalked me while I shopped by just staring rudely...they were not helpful or kind eith the dirty looks. When I went to pay she made a money comment...I paid with cash 400.00. Wtf...rude and jealous high schooler attitude to a woman in her late fifties is just DISRESPECTFUL. The staff needs to get some customer service skills and some respect. I recommend Del Lagos in the Big Bear Village, sweet nice staff that have great skills..I spend like 500.00 when I go so...O koo Ran can suck eggs...never recommend them and their snooty bs..like on Pretty Woman, except i was not dressed inappropriately to be treated so wrong and bad..until they saw my cash..shameful behavior.. read more

I just left this store and will never return again, the service you get by the judgmental woman that work at this store ruined my experience from what I remembered to be a store I liked (notice past tense) to visit when my family comes up the mountain. I had two items that I had intentions on buying until an associate approached me & rudely profiled me which left a nasty taste in my mouth and I walked out immediately! I'm glad I left before things got ugly because they are lucky I was just coming off a beautiful breakfast with my family and chose peace. Probably one of the priciest stores in Big Bear. Good selection of designer clothing and jewelry. Had to ask for help despite several sales people behind the counter chatting amongst themselves. The gal came over, half heartedly, answered a few questions. I carried a few items into the dressing room. Rather than asking how they fit, she totally ignored me. Decided to leave the items in the dressing room and walk out. At these prices, customer service is as important as the item itself. read more

This is the best clothing shop in the village. Seriously, so many of the shops are cheesy souvenir shops or sell you a pair of ski gloves just in case you forgot yours. This place is totally different. If it were in a bigger city with lots of other choices, I would still shop there. O Koo Ran sells women's clothing, lingerie, shoes, and accessories. They have brands like Free People and Juicy Couture. Sure, it's a bit pricey, but last weekend there were lots of sales. The lingerie section is adorable with comfy or sexy PJs. There are lots of fun gifts. I was trying to think of which of my friends had a birthday coming up next. Finally, lots of the items look like they are made by local artists...though they clearly are not. For example, I brought back a clutch made with pop tops....reused martials...though by a large corporation. Anyway, this place is tons of fun! read more

This is such a cute place, the staff was Very friendly and helpful, and all were wearing masks....thank you for that. They had so many gift ideas that I started my Christmas shopping here. We have a vacation home in Big Bear and LOVE our shopping trips to O Koo Ran. The staff is always helpful and friendly. The owner and her daughter are also very kind and I appreciate their eye for picking out new trends in fashion. For those commenting about price...it is not a cheap boutique because they sell lots of name brand clothing like Free People, Daydreamer, Chaser, Wooden Ships, Johnny Was, etc and they are priced normally if you normally shop these brands. They also often have some limited styles that are hard to find or sold out in the stores. This is one of my favorite boutiques to shop and I ALWAYS find something when I go in. Their stuff is cute, but the employees seem put off when you ask them anything and interrupt their conversation. As an employee in the service industry myself I thought it was hilarious... acting annoyed that I actually wanted to buy something. I don't care if it's a $3 magnet or a $93 shirt, you don't have to act like that. Left a bad taste in my mouth for sure. It was my first time at the Village, and this happened to be the first shop I stepped into. I instantly saw their fun and creative socks and knew I was going to spend some money there. After looking around the store some more, I realized a very scowl-faced associate was following me around the shop. She glared and looked very unfriendly, which struck me as odd, as I was obviously going to buy something and my group was discussing what we were going to purchase. Instead of using APPROPRIATE shoplifter-deterring techniques such as engaging with us or asking if we need help with anything, she followed us around and scowled at us. I wish I could give 0 stars for this customer service! At that point... why would I spend my money here? You're rude, and unprofessional. I left immediately. I'm glad I did, because as I walked along the other Village shops, I met the more friendly demographic of Big Bear Lake and spent a little bit too much money! Oops! read more

Searched "thrift stores" on yelp and for some reason this store came up. My friends and I went in to look around and saw nothing but overpriced kitschy trinkets and clothing. There were a couple cool things, but still wildly overpriced. One of the employees hovered over us the entire time as if we were going to shoplift. Don't wast your time. I've always loved coming into this store while in Big Bear and I think they have cute stuff however this time didn't go very well. My cousin and I were not acknowledged or welcomed into the store. The sales associate welcomed all the white ladies into the store however. We went in looking for a nice gift for his girlfriend. The sales associate was watching us like hawks. It was super uncomfortable. It was obvious that they thought we were going to steal. Ive occasionally shopped at O Koo Ran for over 25 years. She carries wearable art! You don't need a fat income to shop there just be selective. I take exceptional care of my classics from this store and still wear old favorites. Then I store the rest, for the textures and colors will make for a beautiful quilt someday. So it's worth every dime to see the art you can create from your own collection of fasionwear. The composition of her mosaic art work is reason alone to go into the store although I highly suggest following her work online for inspiration, it's a clear reminder to do your best. read more

First I'd like to say I come here EVERY TIME (Twice n 20 yrs) I visit BB They carry Free People, Trunk LTD, and carry the cutest hand knitted undies EVER!! The Christmas ones are in now!! I always want to buy something and try so hard to, trying on shoes, stretchy pants (n/s is much to small for this 45 yr old lady) but sadly I never leave with anything. Someday.... The lady who works in this boutique isn't the nicest, greeted everyone coming through the door but me! That makes me confused!!!! The owner might be an unhappy person with some unfulfilled dreams. They seem to amuse themselves selling overpriced candles with cute little profanity slogans. This boutique is full of unique pieces. On the pricier side but worth it. They carry very nice accessories, plus novelty pieces. Vintage pieces. Very girly store. The service is great. This place has the vibe of a wannabe forever 21. The only difference is that forever 21 has cheaper prices for their equally cheap clothes. Also the employees try to at least pretend they want to help you. This place, has none of that. Cheaply made expensive clothes, employees that leer at you rather than try to sell their stuff.
