The coolest little store to stumble upon. Depending on what time of day you stop by, you may have better luck finding parking in other lots nearby. Walking inside transports you to another time, all of the items meticulously placed. They have a wide variety of items & if I was balling I would've absolutely left with a truck full of things. I wanted to support the business regardless so I searched the books and the cd collection. I was pleased to find a journeys greatest hit cd & it was an extremely reasonable price. This place is incredible! Honestly I think it's the best curated vintage store I have ever been in. The vibe is so cool. You feel like you've been transported back to someone's vibed out basement or living room in the 70's. They even have a little jewelry making station. And all the accessories, clothes and items they carry are one of a kind and in great condition. Every corner is its own masterpiece. ALSO! The store owner is a gem and literally opened the store back up for us when it was closed. Not only are the pieces beautiful and rad, but it's also reasonably priced. Definitely something for everyone. I got a cropped jean jacket with metal circles with beads on it, that looked like it was straight out of an 80's film, in incredible condition. Mountain Mod is a jewel going through BBL. We were impressed at the vintage pieces and often finding items reminiscent of growing up through the 70s and 80s - remembering glassware from grandmas house, mom's fondue pot and my older sister's roller skates... the store has a wide variety even through it's on the smaller side. From our time there, we can attest to quality pieces and in great condition of fixtures, kitchen wear, furniture. It's not a 'thrift store' with bargain basement pricing but worth the stop for special pieces, unique gifting and finding something fun (checkout games/clothing in the backroom). The service was friendly and answered our questions. Great family run business in for a stop (probably not if you have littles with you). We were waiting for a table at the Grizzly Manor Cafe next door so decided to walk in here. It felt like walking into a time capsule! This vintage shop had such an eclectic mix of items from back in the day. Loved looking through it all and going down memory lane. The staff behind the counter was very friendly and knowledgeable. My kids spotted a bowl of old vintage keys and enjoyed picking out their own for $1 each and wondering what secret ancient treasure box it unlocked!!! read more

My favorite vintage stores curate based on their surroundings: Modern Mod offers unique vintage for the ski in the morning, surf in the afternoon crowd, plus all kinds of collectibles and furniture. I was impressed with their winter apparel, travel books, mint condition magazines, and lighting fixtures. They also had an incredible collection of vintage surf and skateboard stickers. It reminds me of a meticulously curated vintage shop in Tokyo or Osaka. Definitely worth a visit! read more

Went to Big Bear on a girls adventure for a couple days this week. What a blast we had. After visiting a couple of boutiques I suggested we find some thrift shops. I looked on Yelp to help and found Mountain Mod. It didn't list the time so on our way out of town we stopped by not realizing they are closed on Wednesdays. I called the phone number and the owner answered and sent this amazing gentleman to open the store for us. They have fabulous finds and some groovy treasures. I wanted everything. I scored some great turquoise canisters my best friend bought for my bday, my friend got this gorgeous ring for her daughter and the other friend some cool book ends. Be sure to check them out while your visiting you won't go wrong from vintage books, to the best clothes ever Jordache Jeans, Sergio Valente and Gloria Vanderbilt! A blast from the past.
