Looking for a spot near my hotel that was walking distance and found this one on Yelp. As I approached the spot and realized it was in the Holiday Inn, I almost kept walking. Glad I went inside and sat at the bar. I was quickly greeted and offered a menu. Asking about the beers on tap, the local lager was recommended and it's cold & refreshing. It was happy hour and there was a small menu with good prices, but I opted for the full menu and selected the O'Malley's Chopped Salad with Chicken. Great salad! It's been a minute since I had Green Goddess dressing. It was perfect with the salad. The interior has an old all wood feeling with the full large wood bar and tin ceiling panels. Interesting. Heyyyy, I like the convenience of going down stairs and having a restaurant to eat at! BUT, opens late, after 3pm... stays open late tho! Nice bar, nice customer service but $39 for a tough steak that was bland, needed lemon and salt and pepper and it was hard to cut, also, the side of veggies was BAR NONE.. could at the least put a side of mashed potatoes in there for that price!!! Damn near $40 for one plate! And we got a $10 soup the next day which we shared as well! French opinion w cheese! It was salty but it was so so! Came just for drinks. No one greeted us when we arrived so we took our own seats. The bartenders were nice and the drinks were really tasty. Tried the Mary Pickford (delicious and refreshing), Whisky Lemonade (summer drink), and Last Word (savory). All were very good and would have again. Prohibition-esque era feel to the bar. read more

I online ordered the black bean burger with fries to-go. I had a feeling there was a problem when the estimate that it would be available in 30 minutes was immediately followed by a "your order is ready for pickup" notice. It turned out to be a thin, frozen veggie patty they probably nuked for one minute, then tossed on a bun with some lettuce and one tomato slice. I had asked them to leave off the red onions, but they also left off the aioli...and any flavor. This plus a side of fries for $16?? To their credit, I asked them to add pickles. There was a side pickle cut in two pieces. Is this a regular garnish, or did they do this as a special courtesy? I don't know, but it was the only plus about this meal. read more

In the name of "research" and "building my list" of Irish bars (please visualize me making the Chandler from Friends hand quotes here) I checked this place out. It is right in Crystal City down the street from the Sheraton and not too far from Legal and Ruth Chris. If you having dinner at either of those places or one of the other tasty spots close by, I would recommend this place for drinks beforehand or after wards. O'Malley's is your typical Irish pub type place. They serve American food, not Irish. Bummer. Big cheese factor- on the menu the items are listed with corny names like "Leprechaun Wings" which are just chicken wings. This is a great spot to watch a sports game, especially if is NBA or NCAA hoops (which the crowd leans towards). They have high def televisions, dudes. read more

Inside the Holiday Inn. Staff is friendly but not very fast. Place was pretty slow even during opening game of the World Series. Limited selection of draft beer although they do have nice glassware. Interestingly, 1/3 of the people at the bar as customers were actually Irish but none of the staff were. Seven bucks for a 12 ounce Sam Adams. It is not bad but I wouldn't enthusiastically recommend this spot for people not staying in the hotel. read more

After a long day of travel we decided to just stay at the hotel and eat. Not the best decision! The menu sounded appetizing, but when the food came out, it was anything but. The food that came out was not as described on the menu. We ordered a burger that was supposed to have swiss cheese, crispy onions, truffle butter, and all the fixings. We got a plain ol' burger with cheddar, lettuce, onion, tomato. We also ordered nachos and paid six dollars extra for chicken-not much chicken. But on top of that, what little cheese there was, was not melted and they left off the aioli that was supposed to be on it. The cook came out and said the burger was how we ordered it. And we said we ordered what was on the menu with no subs/changes. She blamed it on the waitress. She was trying to push the issue and press us to order more/different food. The reason for the 2 stars was because the waitress was really sweet and accommodating-even after being blamed-by the cook-for the bad food. I would stay away from this place. read more

This restaurant sits right next to the Holiday Inn property and is their lunch / dinner venue opposite their Fresh Kitchen breakfast establishment. Despite the Irish name, none of the staff are that I could tell, but that's more of less what I expect around the DC area. The bar area was packed with visitors the night I arrived, so it was on the noisy side if you're looking to conduct a business meeting, but a welcome white noise when you're traveling solo for work. My waiter didn't speak very much but he seated me right away and was nothing but kind throughout my stay. The wait staff monitor the dining room from behind the bar, so you have to catch their eye and flag them down to get a re-fill, but I prefer that kind of service versus having someone hovering at my table. I hadn't eaten much that day so I ordered the Shepherd Pie, which is huge for only $10. It was still bubbling when it arrived at my table. It must be rich, as well, because I felt quite heavy the next couple of days but has a great sauce and tender meat with vegetables crowned with equally flavorful mashed potatoes. It's comfort food at its finest but lots of salt, which I felt in my hands long after my meal! Every aspect of this establishment is solid, but it's not one that I'd likely visit unless I stay at the Holiday Inn again. read more

This was your average restaurant in a hotel. Pricing was a little above average due to its location, but the service was spot on and it was relatively clean at least when we came in around 10pm. The staff was amazing and always came to refill our glasses and asked if we needed anything else. The spinach artichoke dip was great although it came skimpy on the chips. I got a Reuben sandwich was great mainly because it didnt have an overwhelming amount of sauerkraut and it melded well with the amount of meat and thousand island sauce. Maria and Josh derserve 5 stars! We have been staying at the hotel for a week. We have been in O'malley's every night. Maria was wonderful! Very friendly and perfessional. Josh was our server one night and was just as friendly and professional. Both worked very hard. I can not say too much about the other servers and bartender. They spent their time sitting around and talking instead of helping out and checking on the customers. The food was tasty but was inconsistent. read more

Ate hear while staying at the Holiday Inn. Late day at work, and didn't want to leave for dinner. Service was okay, it's mainly the hotel bar, so most of the crowd was there for that. Every booth has it's own TV, which is nice if you have a specific game you want to watch. Typical pub fare. Had the fish and chips. Nothing to write home about. Shares the kitchen with the National Diner, so you would hope for better food, but was not the case. Wouldn't recommend it, other than it's convenience if you are staying at the hotel, and don't/can't leave the premises. read more

And I had the chicken pot pie, which was amazing. It was surprising, but it was very good. And then I made the mistake of ordering the brownie sundae. We ate here, because we were staying at the hotel it's located in while we were laid over for the night. When we walked in no one greeted us for about 5 minutes so we thought maybe it was a seat yourself establishment, but by the confused look on our waitresses face it probably wasn't. There's not to many people that work here which made the service incredibly slow, but we didn't blame our waitress for that as she was practically running the whole place along with the bartender. As an appetizer we got the parmesan garlic chicken tenders which came with ranch as a dipping sauce. They were very good, but unfortunately they were the only thing that was good. I originally ordered the Shepard's pie, but was informed that they ran out (this was at 730 pm) so I settled for the steakhouse burger with sweet potato fries. My fried were cold and although the burger looked amazing it tasted like they didn't season the meat and was very bland. But I doused it in bbq sauce making it edible. I had high hopes for the chicken pot pie my fiancé ordered but we agreed that again it was lacking in the seasoning department. Feeling unsatisfied we ordered the brownie sundae to go to bring back to our room. Those were actually very good so there's that. Our server was friendly, so we still left 20%, but the establishment itself definitely needs some work. This place is good if you get appetizers or desserts but the dinner just tastes bland and is too expensive to be so "boring". If I'm ever laid over at DCA again I'd probably go to a different spot based on the fact that the quality of the food is not matching up for the prices being charged. read more

I was in a bad mood...5 flights in 2 days and my flight home cancelled to bad weather .So i asked the hotel i was staying at where i could get some good food and a drink and she advised me about O'Malleys located in the front of the building. So naturally i accepted her advise an walked over the the Pub. I was greeted instantly by warm and friendly staff. Immediately was seated and served an ice cold beer and presented a menu. After eating an amazing burger cooked to perfection i decided to stay and have a few drinks thanks to the friendly staff. Chris and Yvonne where exceptional and O'Malleys is lucky to have actual personable Bartenders and staff. I will be staying at the Holiday Inn International from now on so i can visit this pub again. read more

Went there for 1 happy hour drink with a friend. Was in there maybe, 15 min. Charged my card $1,000!!!! I didn't realize until a week later when I checked my account. They never returned the money in my account for over a week! Spoke to multiple people, and all of them had different stories about how it happen or why it took so long.
