When I asked how much time they said the diagnostic is about 2 hours. So I'm not entirely sure what they were doing for the 8+ hours it was there. They danced around the issues and I never even got updated about my vehicle. I had to call them during the day multiple times to figure out if anything was getting done before I picked it up. No communication and no real urgency and care towards the issue. The service wasn't friendly and they all act like they have better things to do. I can go to the dealership for the same free inspection and a $180 diagnostic fee that actually goes towards the price of repair, and they're guaranteed friendly! This was far from my favorite service at any mechanic and I will not be returning.

Well about a week later the transmission seized up and wouldn't work. AAMCO towed it back to their place and said their tech didn't do something right so they "fixed" it. We gave out 12k miles on the new transmission over a 2 1/2 year period. Now it is doing the same thing it did when they didn't do it right the first time. Kurt informed me we were past the date on the warranty. My question is how that can stay in place when it's doing what it did the first time you "fixed" it after your tech messed it up. Please tho k twice before going here. It's nice to feel like a national company is behind the scenes but they are not. The cooperate office told me today that they do not do quality checks on their franchises as long as they pay their fees. In short I would warn against using a company, especially if they cannot maintain mechanics that are qualified for the work.

For the most part, he was a fair and honest business owner, initially. One month ago, my truck had transmission issues. 4,450 miles were put on my truck in that year and the work he did failed. The parts he put in he swore by and even gave me a 2 year warranty on the work. So, back to Phil's Transmission my truck goes. One month later, I get a phone call from Phil saying the billet low stall converter failed and he ended up having to replace it. One month to replace a torque converter. Now, the time frame initially bothering me the most (and being vocal about it to him), he finally completes his job of replacing a torque converter. And what I mean by completing, is that he just so happened to have a torque converter laying around in his shop that would fit mine. Whether this is a low stall billet converter that I paid high dollar for or not, Only the next shop will know. Today, I went to pick up my truck and found something that pissed me off beyond comprehension. Not two days before my torque converter issues I gave my truck a bath. Not that it even needed it, it was nice out and I just wanted to get it clean. When I inquired Phil about the mud all over the side of my truck his response was "My guys weren't abusing your truck, but I'll give you 10 dollars for a car wash." This prompted me to do an even further inspection of my truck and noticed even more during the month that he had it. Almost half a tank (16+/- gallons had been burnt), Over 90 miles had been put on the truck, AND the OLD transmission fluid from a year ago, was recycled and put back into the truck. Now don't get me wrong, the evidence I've gathered is Phil really doesn't do the test driving or work on the truck, it's his lackeys. And the lackeys he has working on the vehicles his customers brings him are nothing but disrespectful, ignorant fools that have no sense of professionalism for other people's property. When they see a fancy toy they will never be able to afford, they want to go out and have fun in it. However, Phil defends his "employees" and takes no responsibility for what they do and how they do it. My warning to anyone reading this. Do Not Take Your Vehicle To Phil's Transmission.

He ended up just adding another valve body instead of just replacing the solenoids which would have been cheaper. Instead of calling me to confirm what his team would do they just decided to add another valve body charging me $1000. In the future I would have liked him to call me to let me know what would be done and yes you can add other OEM solenoids from another valve body or using the ones I had and getting the caps put on better so they don't fall off in the future. I would have felt that would have been more honest towards me.

I called and chatted with Dan who assured me it wouldn't need much based on Hyundai's published $60K service list. In the end, it was about $110. He checked her brakes and said they were in great shape and definitely didn't need his $450 per axle brake replacement service. She had previously been told her brakes were dangerously bad and needed urgent replacement. Dan could easily have told me her brakes needed replacing and made $450-900.
