After waiting to ask staff a question, Megan, who was casually conversing with others, appeared annoyed by our presence. Boy it pains this Southside Irish Lass to give anything but a 5 to an Irish store. I love Irish stores! I collect Irish tea pots and cups and just about anything else they slap a shamrock on! My freaking wedding ring is from Ireland. I opened the door and I was greeted by a dog. Really? That's the very first thing you want your customers to see, a dog. I don't care how nice or well behaved he is this is a public place and people have allergies. That dog hair and dander are now everywhere. Everywhere. And even when that dog is put in the back room as you did for me, people with allergies can't stay in your store. Achoo! Your customers are not visiting your home, they are visiting your place of business. Please post a simple sign, "Dog often on premises" so that people know. It's your store, you are more than welcome to have it double as your dog house, but let people know. Fun, little shop devoted to all things Irish, which seems kind of out of place in an area so steeped in their Scandinavian heritage, but it works. We stayed upstairs in the cottage loft. Not only is Megan (owner), super friendly, but she was so helpful in her recommendations for local restaurants to visit. The loft is roomy, spacious, and cozy! We stayed there with our two large dogs, and it was amazing! There was plenty of space, updated features, and our dogs even got local treats as a gift! You would be within walking distance of the downtown shops, restaurants, and coffee shop. Even though it was winter, this was the perfect location for a weekend getaway. My boyfriend and I left, knowing that we will make this our annual place to stay!! read more

I have been shopping at O'Meara's for 16 years. I was on my honeymoon on my first visit! The beautiful items in this shop, as well as the incredible staff, have become a staple in my life as I add a piece or two a year to my collection. These pieces are heirlooms and will become part of the thread of your life story. The owner of this shop stocks it with pieces of her heritage and they will become part of your heritage, I assure you, Irish or not!! O'Meara's Irish House is a MUST stop every time I get up to Door County. It's well worth the pleasant walk from downtown Fish Creek. I have found innumerable gifts (for both myself and others) here and the staff are always quite helpful. The Irish sweaters are fantastic! Walking through almost makes me wish it was autumn all year long. I recently spoiled myself with some of the unique jewelry and get compliments every time I wear it. I also tried the Irish oatmeal and especially enjoyed it. Another reviewer was concerned about a dog in the store. I rather expect to see dogs in the shops in Fish Creek and look forward to it. The store was clean and inviting, certainly no dog hair. This store is so much more than just an Irish shop. I'm looking forward to heading back up later this summer and can't wait to see what new treasures she's found! read more

Love this place!! Our family has been stopping by for years. The owner is delightful--very knowledgeable about Door County and Ireland. I was saddened to hear that Seamus, the very loving dog, has retired. We always looked forward to seeing him. Not sure where another poster found dog hair because I've never seen it from this non-shedding breed. The merchandise is of very good quality. My girls especially appreciated the "Kilt Inspector" tee shirt they purchased as they attended a college where young men were often seen with kilts and bagpipes. O'Meara's has a lovely jewelry collection, and I'm always tempted by the gorgeous selection. I'm thrilled to see the shop open in fall and winter when many shops have limited hours. read more

My family and I have visited O'Meara's Irish House every year during our Door County vacations for the last 16 years. It is a required stop. Fabulous knits, jewelry, crystal, jerseys, music, T-shirts, glassware, etc. We always find something new and interesting. It's not just our Irish bias, as our new daughters-in-law equally look forward to the visit. Megan, the owner, is very helpful and a joy to talk with. It is unfortunate one customer had an allergic reaction to Seamus, the owner's dog. That's understandable. But, alas, Seamus has passed on. He is missed by the regular customers. But we still look forward to our visit this summer. read more
