One of the HOA members called Doctor Rooter because his sewage was backing up in his home on July…read more4th weekend. I am the president of the HOA. I approved for the HOA to pay for the fix since was on the main line and a holiday. Guy, the owner of Doctor Rooter then became my friend all of a sudden since I was paying the bills. He claimed to me he had 44 years experience. I heard this a dozen times. I thought the problem was fixed after I paid him $12,000 dollars as he said it was. The problem was still was not fixed. The pipes backed up again. He wanted another $8600 to continue on to fix the problem. At that time I figured out he was full of it and trying to take advantage of us. I had a real plumber come out and he videoed the pipes, I had them dig up what Doctor Rooter already dug up and we found all his repairs were done incorrectly and was the root of the problem. And we found the clog right next to where he dug up. Guy is a lier and does not know what he is doing and will charge you a ton and lie to you about the fix. He will take advantage of you also. He also took advantage of elder people as all of them are older than 70 years old. I would highly recommend to not use Doctor Rooter!!!!!! We now have a special assessment to pay now. WHat should have cost around $5000.00 to fix cost us $16000.00 to fix and he was going to charge us $21000.00. Stay away for Guy and Doctor Rooter.

We are new to the area so I went to the Yellow Pages for info, since there were hardly any reviewed plumbers. I started on the first page and started calling for estimates. See all those BIG fancy ads on the plumbers page? I called four of the biggest and not one came out. The first one said "Call me back and leave your info, I'll be by this afternoon." Nothing, he never came, he never called. I had one of the biggest shops give me advice on how to unclog the toilet MYSELF!! Oh Lordy!! Finally, I took a chance and called one of the plumbers with the small ad on the second page of shops. Bingo!!! I talked to Dave the owner who said his coworker Mark, would be out shortly. AND HE WAS THERE WITHIN THE HOUR. Eventually, Dave had to come out and work on the access pipe outside the house and within 3hrs of my phone call, my problem had been solved!! Turns out the installer from another company didn't do the wiring right. He had our heat back on and was very helpful and honest. He got a new part ordered for our heat pump and answered all our questions. The price for the late night service call was reasonable and so worth it to keep our kids warm on such a cold night. The team promptly showed the first thing the following morning. That's why they received the two stars. Their recommendation was a complete new system. Depending on my desires this would run me between $13K and $20K. I chose to get a second opinion. A wise decision indeed. Hence, why no more than two-stars. The installation of new communicating thermostat fixed the problem for less than $800.00. Yes, the thermostat was expensive, but I saved over $12000. GET A SECOND OPINION! I will not recommend Honest Abe's again. Call Scott's in Camdenton instead.
