We went for the first time today to see creed 111 We were in theatre 6 in the H aisle. Volume was not great and we couldn't hear some of the people talking and we're used to recliner seats so the seating felt like we were back in the 70/80,s. Not really comfortable but doable for 3/4 s of the movie. The staff was very personable and pleasant. Hopefully bigger theater will be somewhat better. read more

I walked into the theater excited to watch a movie with my friend as our girls night out. When walked in, nobody was helpful and acted as if I was a burden. The theatre REEKED of cigarettes and genuinely smelled horrific. It ruined the movie for me. My throat hurt and the smell was so strong. The seats were so uncomfortable and it felt like a cheap movie theatre. Definitely will be watching movies elsewhere even if it costs more than I'd like. I see why my ticket was so cheap. Came for a later movie so it was not as crowded when we were there. The theater is more rundown than other theaters I have recently been to. The seats were odd, while you have the ability to lean back I found the seat attempted to fold me into the seat while I was sitting on it. I had to prop my feet up on the railing in front of me to prevent myself from being folded in half. No issues with the movie. read more

Stop scamming people into a shitty movie going experience. Randomly decided to see a movie and lucky for me Jungle Cruise was just starting when I found O'Neil Cinemas. You can easily purchase tickets from a kiosk and 1:30 showings are considered matinee so the ticket was only $10. Good selection at the concession stand, overpriced like all theaters so I only got a small popcorn (which was pretty big and took the entire movie to eat) and a water. Seats are just so so. They aren't the nice reclining seats but are somewhat padded. For comparison, they are much better than Cinema Salem's seats but way less comfortable than a big chain like AMC. The theater and bathroom were both a bit dirty which was odd for this being the first showing of the day. Sound and picture quality was fine. No complaints about the movie watching experience. I'd go to this theater again. read more

Went to see Joker today. The experience was much improved from previous visits to the Epping Theatre. The staff were attentive. The popcorn was fresh and they had the cheesy popcorn topping that I enjoy. The smaller theatre 4 was clean and the seat were clean even though they squeaked when you moved. You could not hear any adjacent movies in theatre, which was a great improvement. The movie was great! Definitely worth seeing if you like the DC universe. This is not a good cinema to bring kids to simply because the seats fold up on kids they do not weigh enough to keep seats down! The booster seats they supply are useless! I was reminded yesterday why I don't go to this theater! Never mind it was so cold it was uncomfortable. I had to run back out to my car get the 1 Blanket and towel I had to ease the kids cold to get through the movie! It's a shame they went cheap on the seats, it would be worth it for them to change them in the future they made a huge mistake with their choice! I have overall been a faithful customer of going to O'Neil, even after moving to Portsmouth. Friendly staff, clean theater, D-Box seats are fun at times. I will say however yesterday was a let down. I got there right when movie was starting, but I ordered hamburger combo because I was starving. When it was ready, it came out on a paper plate (always served in a bowl type container)... the fries were about burnt. AND the burger, it was cold!! Inexcusable. read more

I drive over an hour from concord,NH to watch movies in IMAX. It's the best theater going experience in New England! State of the art sound and projection. The seats are very comfortable,the employees are always pleasant,the butter for the popcorn is tasty and they have Pepsi products! I also highly recommended the Backstage Lounge. I really enjoy this theater. Their prices aren't nearly as high as the neighboring movie theaters, plus free refills on a large popcorn! In the summer, they show older movies during the week days for kids, and it costs $2 per child, $3 per adult. It's perfect for a hot summer day hiding from the heat. Food service is insanely slow. If you are ordering anything make sure you arrive at the theatre with much advanced notice or you are bound to miss out on entering the theater with the lights on. This is a nice place to see a movie though as it is a cheaper theater, especially the matinee fees. The seats here are comfortable, their popcorn is good, and the tickets are affordable. I go slightly out of my way to come to the movies here instead of the theatre in Newington. They also don't play half an hour worth of previews and advertisements (hallelujah!). On that note, show up on time or you will miss the beginning of your film! Some of the staffers are your typical teenagers who clearly don't want to be there. Plenty of parking. Clean. No charge extra for buying your seats online. Finally- they have a sticker on the door that says "check in on yelp!" or something of the like. I did and got a coupon for a free small drink with purchase of a popcorn. It took (no joke) 4 staff members over five minutes to figure out how to redeem my coupon. At that point I offered to pay for the drink, because after all the runaround, they'd made me late for my movie. Don't have it LITERALLY on your door if you don't know what to do with it! read more

We love O'Neils and have been several times. We especially love the reserved seating!! We get a group of families together and either someone buys the group tickets or we talk and go on-line at the same time to buy our seats so we're seated together. It's really nice that we are able to plan on a movie DAYS ahead of time and know we have what we consider the best seats in the house. We don't have to arrive super early to get those seats. (really a waste of time in this day and age) Just arrive in time to buy our concessions and settle in. I have experienced both digital and 3D movies - great experience with both. Have not taken advantage of the D-Box seats yet. We've always found the bathrooms to be clean, the counter concession staff to be i8t fast, and the staff is general to be very friendly Extra stars for veteran's benefit! For this size theater the parking is terrible. Went today, matinee showing and not a spot to be had near the theater. First five rows in front of the stores (marshalls, ultra) were also full. Whoever designed this didn't think about the amount of traffic a theater brings. We ended up parking behind marshalls about a 5 min walk to the theater. Feels like a lifetime when you are trying to get to a movie on time. Give yourself a LOT of time before your movie if you go here. read more

Prices have been increased, they do not serve fresh popcorn (brought bags out from back room to fill popcorn vats in front counter). My friend and I are new to the area, and we used Yelp to find this place. We wanted to see 22 Jump Street (it was way funnier than the first one by the way). I'm glad we found it! Look at the front of that place; have you ever seen a more beautiful and classic American movie theater? The neon, the smell of popcorn, the friendly staff; this place had it all. It took me back to being a kid. The first movie I remember seeing in the theater was Gremlins. My pops took me. The sights and smells here took me back right away. You pay for the ticket, you get the nostalgia for free. Anyway, I remembered that this place had some negative reviews and that didn't jibe with my experience at all. So I wanted to share the great time I had with everyone in the area. Anybody else excited for Transformers 4?! I'm excited to hear it on the great sound system in this theater! read more

New theater, very clean and "pretty", how did they miss the boat on seating. AMC in Methuen has installed basically recliners in all but the Imax theater. Seating is tight, although I am a bigger, so maybe someone "normal" size fits fine. Picture quality was great as was the sound, popcorn was ehh. The other option in NH if you are "bigger" might be better. Also the reserved seating for an afternoon movie that was half full and the reserved seats were half empty. Stinks when you get there early to an empty room and they are "reserved". Everyone knows go early to get a good seat....Oh and it was deadpool. good movie. I don't typically use Yelp to write reviews, but after actually going to this theater and having a really great time, I felt an obligation to share my experience to quell some of the negative comments posted here. First of all, these guys are local and according to their website (O'neil Shares) they give back to the local community. I don't think the Regal or The Loop or the other corporate giants in this business even remotely care about the people that come to their theaters. Second, the Epping location was one of the cleanest theaters I've ever been in. At most theaters it's pretty typical to have your feet sticking to the floor, or to see garbage that the clean up crew missed (at least in my past experiences). At the O'neil theater it was pristine, very new looking, and very comfortable. My wife and I moved from NY to just outside the Portsmouth area 2 years ago. Before that we used to vacation with friends in the Hampton Beach resort area for a week every summer, which is how we ended up finding the O'neil Epping theater to begin with. Now that we aren't too far away this is our preferred theater and it's also the only theater my wife and I have ever been to that has the new interactive 'D-box- seating, which is basically sitting in a special seat equipped with surround sound speakers, and is motion activated to give you the feeling you're IN the movie. Pretty cool- I'd definitely recommend giving it a try as it's totally worth it! Anyways, I just thought I should defend my favorite local theater and put up a REAL review as opposed to the most likely 'fake' ones put up by the employees of The Regal or whoever. My advice: Experience things for yourself and don't always put your trust in the reviews you see as I've read that around 85% of online reviews are fake anyways! This is our local movie spot for family outings or even a rare date night. The theatre is hardly ever packed and is always super clean. They have gone to reserved seating, which is new to my old ways, but being a smaller venue, I can see the logic. Good popcorn too and close to decent eats and ice cream. read more

Great first experience at this local theater! Tickets for all matinees before 5:30 are $7.75. We were able to order tickets online, and reserve seats in a totally empty row with no problem. The seats are super comfy as movie seats go with a little bit of recline to them. Concessions were solid, including delicious popcorn with various topping options and the usual candy. They also carry Sal's pizza of North Shore, MA fame. Concession prices are indeed a bit steep, so be prepared to pay almost as much or more than tickets for your snacks. Sound and visuals were good, and the temperature in the theater was good. To the other reviewer who commented how dirty it was, that was not at ALL my experience. Everything, including the bathrooms was quite clean. The lobby perhaps could be called a bit dated, but that's my general experience with movie theaters. Overall, solid 4 stars. It's only not getting five, because I am partial to the SuperLux theaters that bring food to your seat! read more
