He was not knowledgeable about the Forester I was test driving and was unable to answer questions. However, he was a young man, presuming without much experience, so he got a pass. When I returned to the dealership, I made an offer on the vehicle. Israel wrote the price down on a blank piece of paper and asked me to sign it. I declined, saying that if I ended up buying the vehicle, I would sign the actual paperwork. He took my offer back to the "finance guy." The "finance guy," turned out to be an aggressive middle-aged man with a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle tattooed on his arm. He came out and asked me where my offer came from. Super classy, right? I simply told him that was what I was willing to pay for the vehicle. He continued with his snarky comments. I stood up and walked out. Since my experience at Kendall Subaru, I have been treated to the blank piece of part signing tactic and the rude "where did your offer come from" question at another dealership. It seems that these thugs all receive the same lousy training. This is precisely why they will continue losing customers to outfits such as CarMax. There are far too many folks like me, who are neither interested, nor impressed by manipulation and aggression.
