Took my car to O-Reiley's for a new battery, which was $224, but needed to have it installed because of the car's computer. They recommended Courtesy Automotive and I ended up being charged $388. The person checking me out accidentally handed me their invoice for my battery- which was $197. So..... it was easy for me to figure out that they made $191 on a battery install. ($51 charge for the computer reset which seemed reasonable.) The worse part for me is that they didn't have my battery in stock, so I waited to make sure they could get it. If they weren't able to get one same day, I was going to drive over to O-Reileys and pick it up........ wish that would have happened! The service was great there- such a shame that they tried to make such a crazy profit. read more

They'll probably get the work done, but only after the old cranky dude behind the counter tells you he doesn't want to work on your car and that your warranty is a "pain in the ass". Definitely do not take these people a Mini or you'll hear all about it. What's in a name? Nothing at all, "Courtesy" Automotive. Two thumbs down, for sheer rudeness. If you don't want to work on a car, don't take the business. Obviously. Update!!! Took my car to Les Schwab and it doesn't need anywhere the amount of work stated by Courtesy. Schwab found the leak we told Courtesy about but that they couldn't find, and our total with repairs was less than a third of the quoted price from Courtesy. Do not bring them your Mini, they honestly hate them and will jack the price up to drive you off. If they say at any time that they don't like your model of car, just leave. My 2018 car broke down this morning and George and his coworkers took time to do diagnostics on it today, as the dealerships are booked out for months. I have been going to Courtesy Automotive in Monroe for about a year or two now. I am a women with limited knowledge about cars and I felt very comfortable after leaving this place. On my first visit, George and another technician took me back to my car, which was up on a lift, and described to me how tire wear works and what to look for in the tread. I came in asking if they needed to be rotated and he advised me that they didn't need it yet while showing me why. They showed me the air filter and how much gunk was in it but instead of charging me for one they showed me how to change it myself. They now do all my oil changes and regular upkeep. When I moved to Monroe, I went to this place for some car service because it was close by, and I think someone in a local shop may have mentioned them. I've never regretted it! They are great. George and Brad are good humored, down-to-earth, businesslike and professional. The mechanics are well trained and do good work, and as far as I can see, their prices are reasonable and fair. I used to go to several other mechanics in Monroe, and after feeling like I was getting ripped off constantly as well as being tired of pushy sales managers trying to sell me overpriced parts, I decided to try these folks out based on a recommendation from a friend. I've been their customer now for a few years. Honest, courteous, quick, and economical. They will not try to sell you needless repairs or parts, but they will give you an honest evaluation of your situation and tell you what your options are. I'm sticking with these folks. They were very friendly to me and my 7yr old daughter who waited with me. Never tried to up-sell or recommend any 'extras'. They were fast and efficient and did a great job at a very good price. I brought my car in to have it inspected for defects as I bought it used recently. They told me the cost of the inspection was 100$. They told me that the check engine light is on (DUH) and it would be another 100$ to figure out why the check engine light was on, this reminds me of the genie with the chrystal ball telling the fool that they want more money to tell them their fortune. 200$ for informational purposes is absurd. I had just made a multistate drive in my older vehicle, after having my local mechanic specifically do a thorough inspection. Here in Monroe, I went to a national brand place to get my oil changed. They told me that I needed nearly $700 of repairs!! I went to Courtesy because of their rating on Car Talk, to get an independent 2nd opinion. They got me in fast, looked at it while I waited, and told me that none of it was necessary. AND they even refused payment even though they did spend some time on the inspection. You can't beat that for honesty and service. I'll never go elsewhere no matter what oil change special is advertised on the back of my grocery receipt! read more

These are good folks to do business with. People often are pretty wary of auto repair shops and sometimes with good reason. Courtesy is the exception. I have done business with these people several times over the years and have always received excellent, expert service. They are attentive to my need, address it efficiently and charge very fairly for their work. Often they have gone above and beyond to take care of other issues they observe without even charging me. They do an excellent job of communicating exactly what the problem is and what needs to be done, and have never charged me more than what I was quoted without checking with me first for an okay before they proceed. If you live in the Monroe area, this is the place to take your vehicle. I noticed recently that they are the local U-Haul dealer as well, in case you need a trailer or whatever when you're moving. read more

All the guys here have been totally professional, helpful, honest, fair and accurate. they often help me make decisions on used cars I'm looking at, and whether repairs are worthwhile on existing cars. If you're the kind of person who just goes to the cheapest mechanic I don't know if Courtesy is for you. They may be, but I don't shop that way, so I don't know. If you are the type who likes to get to know and trust your mechanic, and are a loyal customer, they are great. I've done all my automotive work there for a few years now, and they have taken the extra time to ask what I want and explain what is going on. The quality of the work has been dependable.
