After purchasing a battery earlier in the year (less than 6 months of use) I started getting the "low battery charge" on my dash. I stopped by to ask about my warranty, bringing along my original receipt and the first thing they said was it was my starter. Without running any diagnostics. Like Dr House and his quick claims, it wasn't my starter. But now that I see they often claim that to people, makes sense, I guess. After taking my car to the Volvo dealership and having them run multiple tests, they printed out several time stamped diagnostics of the battery and turns out, it was failing. So, why not take back my battery to where i purchased it with its warranty. Well, I was met with hostility, I was asked why "I trust Volvo over them, because they've been in the battery business for 40+ yrs.", maybe it's because a real diagnosis was given! Not just looking at it. It's okay you know, batteries fail, all of them. That seems to be a new concept to people who have been in the "battery business for 42 years". Then they took of picture of my plate and said, "I never want to see you or this car again and you no longer have a warranty on your battery", which they wrote all over my battery replacement. Hysterical, nice business acumen. We'll see how the BBB likes their acumen.

Had an alternator rebuilt through Indian River Battery and it lasted 20k miles before I spent the extra money for an OE. That was once. Today was twice. Had to pull another alternator from Indian River Battery with only 40k miles on it. Was I annoyed when I walked into the store? Yes. Was I apprehensive to return to the store after the previous incident? Yes, but I did as a matter of convenience. Nope, waste of time. The late founder's widow couldn't handle my curtness and, rather than attempt to alleviate the situation, met my curtness with equal curtness. Now that would be fair if she were my wife, but as representative of a business? Yeah, I don't think so. I didn't curse. I didn't yell. I simply expressed my displeasure through the tone of my voice in having to tear apart half an engine because of a lemon alternator for a second time. If I have to pay a bit more for an alternator that will last at least 100k, I guess I'm off to Rock Auto or MoparPartsGiant to see who can get me on the road quickest. It is abundantly clear Indian River Battery does not need my business any longer.

What I…read moreencountered at Viking Automotive in Vero Beach was not just disappointing--it was dishonest and unprofessional. From the beginning, basic expectations weren't met. Communication was slow or nonexistent, and when I did get answers, they were dismissive rather than helpful. I took my 2007 BMW Z4 3.0i E85 in for a straightforward diagnostic: rough cold start, a tire sensor issue, and a few mechanical noises. I was told it would take a couple of hours, which I was more than willing to pay for--especially if it meant getting a thorough, accurate assessment by their only BMW Mechanic! Instead, after about an hour, I found my car already sitting back in the lot with no phone call it was ready or an update. I was then told that nothing had been done beyond checking the oil, and that the engine was essentially "breaking down" due to supposed metal shavings and large debris in the oil filter. No one showed me the filter at the time. No one explained the findings clearly. I never even spoke directly to the mechanic. The written report was filled with vague language, like "possibly this" and "possibly that," which is not a diagnosis--it's guesswork. Despite claiming photos were taken, none were provided so I had to call and request them. Once I received the photos, I see this in the Subject of the email: * INSPECTION RESULTS FOR YOUR 2007 BMW Z4 ROADSTER* "3.0si" I Told them my Bimmer was a 3.0i ... did I receive another 2007 BMW owners diagnostic report?! And it's THEIR oil filter and diagnostic I received?!?! Are they THAT Unorganized & Incompetent? What's worse is what came next. After spending days stressed, believing my engine was failing, I had the car inspected by an independent mechanic. He reviewed the same photos and immediately identified what Viking called "metal" as air bubbles. When he physically inspected the car, he confirmed there were zero metal shavings or plastic debris in the oil filter--just bubbles. He also explained why the filter had collapsed, which was supposed to have been changed by a previous mechanic in Fort Pierce (obviously didn't change the filter, did they even change the oil)? After a cold start, changed AND filter, put in an additive all of which has quieted the tapping to ticking (intrinsic of the N52 per BMW) and improving. He then took my car for a drive afterward and stated my Bimmer has a strong engine! So now I'm left with a simple conclusion: either the Viking BMW mechanic, Colton, lacks the basic competence to distinguish between metal debris and air bubbles, or they knowingly misrepresented the condition of my engine, plus exaggerated damage, or diagnosed another BMW and sent me photos of another owner's Oil Filter, or simply LIED! None of which is acceptable. Kathy refused to do any other diagnoses as requested, nor will she do any repairs, and couldn't explain in-depth the diagnoses I needed explained. (She's a mechanic too??). The only person that should be explaining the diagnoses is THE Mechanic him or herself and Show ME the Filter! If they didn't want to work on an older BMW, they should have said so. Instead, they chose to provide a rushed, incomplete, and ultimately misleading assessment that caused unnecessary stress, wasted my time and money. Time IS Money! I would have gladly paid for a full, proper diagnostic and on MY CAR, Not someone elses. Instead, I paid for an hour of speculation and left with a completely inaccurate conclusion about MY vehicle's condition. I cannot recommend Viking Automotive to anyone looking for honesty, reliability, or professional integrity. There are far better options out there that actually value their customers, appreciate drivers that love their vehicle, and not only Do the Work, but stand behind it!

On 8/28/26, I received a reply stating, I needed both batteries need replacement. I found that strange, you replaced the right side on 2/9/24 or 2 years and 6 months ago. I replaced the left in 9/22. The manager refused to replace the one they installed, Then you stated the front control arm bushings were torn; these were replaced by you in 1/03/24 on a bill of $8,816.67 with 24,619 miles. I now have 27,236 miles on the car in 8/31/26. The manager would not stand behind his work and would not repair, stating that's normal wear? I check the estimated cost to replace a steering pump, and a Bentley dealer is around $2,500 your charge was $4,600. Needless to say, I will not be using Don's anymore as they don't stand behind their work and the inflate prices, and try to take advantage of me Waring Justis, Jr.

At first, they seemed to have no idea what the part was or where it went. Then, after two weeks, they told me the labor would cost $1,500 because they claimed they had to open up the engine. But really, it just involves accessing the left-side crankcase cover, draining the oil, being careful not to mess up the timing, swapping the part, and installing the gasket. I'm not even an expert mechanic, yet I've done it twice myself--I only took it to the shop because I don't currently have the space to do the work. It took me 60 minutes to do it without professional tools or a bike lift; I imagine an expert mechanic with the right tools would take about 45 minutes. And they wanted to charge me $1,500 for that? On top of that, they left my bike sitting outside the shop, exposed to the sun and rain, for two weeks. What kind of rating do they deserve?
