I was so impressed with my experience there Saturday, however, I will be going here more often. I needed an air filter for my truck and went to Napa in Coventry, but they did not have the higher-grade filter for my truck. So, I went to the West Warwick Napa, and they had not one, but four choices of filters, including the one I wanted. The West Warwick Napa is more visually appealing than the Coventry Napa, with a larger area of tools, automotive fluids and other supplies in the front of the store. They had more brands of oil than Coventry. On my visit Saturday, they had the front door open and a large, industrial fan on a stand kept the store cool. Counter people at this store are very friendly and personable. This Napa is part of Wheelock's auto group, which owns and operates several Napa stores. Parking at this location is somewhat limited, but it hasn't been a problem for me. There is a small lot on Roberts Street, which is a one-way street, or else you can park in front of the store on Main Street. Later that day, after I had my truck torn apart, I realized I needed a gasket or seal between my throttle body and air cleaner housing, as the old one was a bit torn up from age. I used my wife's car to drive back to West Warwick Napa and brought the old part with me. Joe, the counter person who'd waited on me earlier, couldn't find the gasket on his computer, but he went the extra mile and walked in back to try to find one that matched up. I feel that many counter people at the big auto parts chains (AutoZone, Advance, etc.) would just shrug and say, "Go to the dealer." Joe, however, gave his best effort. He also offered a solution, selling me some silicone gasket maker in a tube, in case I couldn't get the gasket from the dealer. I called a Chevrolet dealer, and found that the gasket is not sold separately, but is part of an assembly, and that it is a discontinued part anyway (the vehicle is almost 20 years old), so I just applied some of the gasket maker on the old seal, to help it seal better.

I arrived at 8:55 AM only to find the doors still locked. At 9:00 they finally opened, and the employee at the front desk informed customers that the technicians were late, so no work could begin yet. The first technician didn't arrive until around 9:15, and nobody working there seemed remotely concerned that he was late for work while customers were already waiting. I left my car and returned later that day when the work was supposedly completed. In the parking lot, I immediately noticed one valve stem was missing a cap. When I went back inside, they handed me a random mismatched cap that barely fit the threads. Shortly after driving away, my tire pressure monitoring system began updating, and one sensor showed "unavailable." I also noticed one tire was losing air. Because I was rushing to an event at my daughter's school, I could not return immediately. The next day I brought the car back. To his credit, the employee at the front desk seemed overwhelmed and understaffed, but he genuinely tried to help. While assisting me outside with a diagnostic tool, another employee--presumably his manager--came outside and reprimanded him in front of me for leaving a customer waiting inside. They argued in front of me and even tried to pull me into the disagreement by asking for my opinion on how the situation should have been handled. Completely unprofessional. They eventually discovered they had forgotten to install a tire pressure sensor in one wheel, and the leaking tire had air escaping around the valve stem. While fixing it, another employee informed me that the leak I found (a separate tire from the one with the sensor issue) was caused by a barcode sticker had been left on the tire during installation, preventing a proper seal, so they had to remount the tire. He seemed amused by this mistake. After already making a second trip and spending hours there, I did not find it funny. When they finally finished what they could, they informed me that "Blake" had apparently taken the sensor programming tool home, so I would need to return again in two days when he was working. On my third visit, things somehow got worse. They informed me they had run out of the adhesive wheel weights needed to rebalance the tires and it would take hours for more to arrive. Sensing my frustration, one employee went into the garage and found some loose weights lying around to use instead. After waiting yet again, I was finally handed my keys and told that Blake still could not program the tire sensor and would call me back once he figured out a solution, but he did not know what the exact issue was because he was "out of the loop". It has now been well over a week, and nobody has called. This entire experience was so absurd that I honestly worry people reading this review won't believe it actually happened, but I assure you every word is true. Beyond the repeated mistakes, what stood out most was the complete lack of pride, professionalism, accountability, or quality control. Nothing was checked before returning the vehicle to me, and every visit uncovered another careless error. The condition of the store itself reflects the same lack of standards and pride. The front area was cluttered with trash, dirty rags, random boxes, and layers of dust and dirt that looked like they hadn't been cleaned in months. It genuinely appears that nobody from corporate Pep Boys has inspected or managed this location in years. This was easily one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had.

They are just now getting started 90 minutes after I arrived with my car with the cheapest tires they have in stock that fits - and I have zero info on which tires. 4.5+ hours to get tires. Only tires. And offered 10% discount for the wait. You know what would've been great? A phone charger to use. Some water while I am trapped here. A bathroom that isn't visibly filthy, a hook to hang my bag while I use it, and maybe paper towels to dry my hands. Not sure what happened to the car before me, but they paid and left, then the mechanic ran out alarmed and told the desk to call them on the phone and have them come back NOW. Another customer just returned with their vehicle. They got an oil change. It was overfilled and they had to have it towed. Everyone I've met in my half day of getting tires swear they will never come back here. I can't even tell you what I've heard coming out of the garage. Obnoxious and completely unprofessional.

In fact, I stopped here for a couple Red Bulls the other day after passing by the Cumberland Farms just up the road, because Cumby's parking lot was jam-packed. This location, at the corner of Cowesett and Coit avenues, is usually easy to get in and out of, and it is conveniently located for me. Given its small size, it's definitely not a full-service convenience store - just some basic snacks and drinks. It reminds me of an old-school gas station convenience store, like one I used to work in about 30 years ago when I was in college - not many of these left in an era of super-sized Cumbys. Although I have stopped at this location occasionally over the course of many years, I only just found out on my last visit that they have a public bathroom - I assumed the store was just too small to have a public bathroom, so I never bothered to look or ask for one. There is only one employee on duty here at any given time - that's all that is needed - and the employees who work there have always been polite. All in all, this is a good alternative if you are in a hurry and just want to grab some gas and/or basic snacks.

I've driven "boxes" for years from Jeep Wagoneers to Subaru Foresters and no matter what car wash I've taken them to the brushes have never done a good job cleaning the back of the car. It isn't a problem at the ones that have crews who dry your car afterwards because they hand wipe the back clean. This automatic one makes the back look clean as a whistle and at just $5.00 for the basic wash it is one quarter the price or less than a staffed car wash. (Plus you don't have to leave a tip. :) ) If you've had the same problem with getting your vehicle totally clean pull into this Shell at the corner of Cowesett and Coit Avenues. You won't be sorry. :-) PS - It takes bills but not cards and doesn't make change so if you don't have the right change you can go in the store first and they'll give you a receipt with a code to put into the payment machine at the wash.
