At my most recent visit to Ridgewood RHY, they went against their own policy and gave my spot away to someone else less than 5 minutes after class started. I was late due to lack of parking. I've been on the other end of this policy at multiple locations, waiting on standby in the event that someone was a no-show, and had to wait the full five minutes. Ive been turned away before because the person running late arrived at the last second. I totally get it! However, the same courtesy was not extended to me. I'm really disappointed, and probably won't visit this location again soon because of this.

I should have said no. Not like this I haven't. People have suggested that I take a class before and I really had no idea that it would be so beneficial. I definitely didn't want to take a full hour class or hot yoga! I live right down the street and I had no idea Fire shaper was even there. I really should have realized by the name that it was gonna be hot, but I suppose than I probably wouldn't have tried it. They have certain rules in place to maintain social distancing. You're only allowed to take your mask off at your spot. They're not renting things. It was a great experience for my mind, my body and my soul. Holding the various positions build your strength, endurance and flexibility. Focusing on your body is a great way to clear your mind of whatever stress you are feeling in your life. The heat definitely helps you warm up your muscles to maximize your stretch and burn more calories. Ariel was the instructor of the flow class and she was great. She took us through a lot of different poses that flowed together. She seemed to give everybody in the class the attention that they needed. I didn't bring any water, my towel was small and it really was pretty pretty brutal. But when it was over I felt great and I slept like a baby. The next day I was surprised that my legs were as sore as they were. Did I get a full body workout? Fire shaper did everything right. You can buy classes and sign up for class online. The studio was kept clean. They sold anything you would need. It seemed like some of the people there knew each other and had a family environment.

So I believe that today was my fourth class and I have to be honest the first few I wasn't so sure if I was going to keep going because I was a little intimidated and uncomfortable. I am very self concise and felt "out of place" the first few times , that changed today . First off the instructor Amanda is wonderful. I was feeling like I was getting a lot out of her class and I felt like she was really paying attention to the students and when they needed some guidance. Unfortunately I got very dizzy and the middle class and had to walk out because I really wasn't feeling well at all she came out to check on me and suggested I go in and just at least lay down on the mat I try to do so for a few minutes but I knew I was going to be sick so I walked out again. When I came out of the bathroom another instructor I think her name is Karen P was waiting to see if I was OK. She is the main reason that I'm going to be coming back to the classes she was a complete stranger to me but she sat me down and spoke to me and pull things out of me like she had known me for years and made me realize a lot of things and the reasons why I'm having such a hard time in the classes. Both she and Amanda are huge asset to the studio and I am grateful for the fact that I actually got sick today because if it wasn't for that I probably wouldn't of gone back because I would've just given up if no one spoke to me and pushed me through it. I really do hope that the owners see this post and let their instructors know what a difference they made for me this evening I feel positive and I'm going to keep coming back it may take me a long time before I could do a lot of the moves but I'm not giving up

The studio has a great atmosphere, from the bamboo floors to the chiming fountain that greets you as you walk in the door. Ananta has created a real yoga community, where the teachers know your name and the students know each other. Beginners and seasoned yogis will both find themselves at new places in their practice after a few classes at Ananta. They also hold specialty workshops for beginners, lower back problems, knitters, and golfers. They asked for a credit card number to book the session and as I was driving when they called me, I wasn't able to provide it to them. We agreed I would call them back to provide it, but life happens and I forgot. No one contacted me in between I went out of my way to drive to the location (not local) and upon arrival, they did not have my appointment and told me that they canceled my session because I never provided my credit card. BUT no one ever called me and followed up and no one called me and notified me that they were canceling me so I drove out of my way for absolutely nothing.

I recently took a class here and was deeply shaken by what happened afterward. From my personal…read moreexperience, I learned that my Pilates instructor was wrongfully terminated following an incident with another member named Ed Pacelli. During a class, Ed made an extremely inappropriate, racially charged "joke" about hanging African American people directed toward our African American instructor. His own wife tried to stop him, left the room embarrassed, and he still went ahead with it. What disturbed me even more was how the situation was handled. Instead of supporting the instructor who simply asked for him to be removed from her class because of how unsafe and uncomfortable the comment made her feel management chose to side with Ed, reportedly because he's been a member for six years. From my point of view, that choice spoke volumes. As a minority woman, I cannot support a place where staff and clients of color can be exposed to racist comments and then left unprotected. In today's political climate, where safety and respect should be the bare minimum, it's heartbreaking to see an establishment so willing to turn a blind eye. I refuse to spend my time or money somewhere that tolerates behavior like this.
