The restaurant has a good atmosphere inside with the flow of the kitchen and bar. My wife and I visited after church on Sunday and it was not busy at all. Decent draft menu with a few select Irish brews and cider . We ordered the Rueben , wings , and Irish onion soup . Wings were crispy and juicy , the blue cheese was house made and chunky , the onion soup was flavorful and definitely house made . The Reuben was stacked well with good portion of tender corned beef. Good is it's cute and cozy. Has live music that I liked. I could go back for a beer or to maybe try their Rubin sandwich. Service was good but music was so loud that was hard to communicate. Bad is that the food in general was eh, and the price was way too much for what you get. Beer battered shrimp sounds good, but at $17 for an appetizer and only 5 shrimp were on the plate, that's $3 per shrimp when I can go down the street and buy 3 lbs of shrimp for $5.99/pound. Caesar salad, I'm not sure why people try to keep reinventing it but usually it's a very hard salad to screw up and this one was just not good.. Caesar salad dressing is an incredibly simple thing to make fresh and from scratch and yet nobody does it anymore. We walked out with one appetizers two meals and one drink and paid over $80 for it which wouldn't have been too bad if the food was much better. There's like 5 eat in nice restaurants in Delmar and 2 are Irish. Comparing them; it's very close depending on what you like. We went for lunch and parking and seating was very easy to get. The ambiance is nicer than Swifty's; cozily decorated for the holidays. The wait staff were friendly; especially considering my 2 rowdy kids. For the food: I really enjoyed my French onion soup! The calamari was also tasty, however I would've liked the banana peppers unfried. My youngest liked his chicken tenders and fries and it was A LOT for him. I did like the cottage pie but it felt mashed potato heavy. Like it was 75% mash. My oldest and husband got the fish and chips. My husband said the fish was amongst the best he's had! But thought the cole slaw tasted yucky and the tartar sauce tasted like a bunch of mayo; bland. We will probably go back. read more

We have dined at this restaurant 3 or 4 times. I am writing the review now because they have demonstrated consistency. The service is truly attentive and prompt. The food we have sampled has been terrific. I love a good Irish beef stew and this restaurant does not disappoint! Plentiful chunks of beef and lots of mashed potatoes with a few carrots slices sprinkled in as a garnish. The dish also comes with some slices of the equivalent of French bread and the bread is very fresh. My dining companion ordered the fish and chips. The fish was very fresh. The fish was nicely thick and lightly fried with a tasty coating. The French fries were plentiful and cooked perfectly. For dessert we split a chocolate chip cookie lava cake. Definitely a decadent choice. Of course when I step on the scale and instead of a number the display reads "one at a time" I may have to give serious consideration to skipping dessert next time :) Overall, we had another great experience. I only mention the two dishes above because they are what we always order. The food is so delightful that we always return for more of the same. Perhaps, next visit, we will try other dishes - but I wouldn't put money on that happening :). read more

This is a very pleasant place. Nice looking bar area surrounded by some tables. I passed a separate dining area away from the bar upon entry. There is also a patio area in back of the building. There appeared to be a large selection of draft beers, maybe 20, but I decided to have an Iced Tea ($2) with my lunch. It was basic and good. It was almost difficult making my choice among the sandwiches, tacos, burgers, mac and cheeses, and Irish fare, not to mention the sharables, chile and sides. But I finally decided upon the Dublin Gobbler ($12), described as oven roasted turkey breast, sharp cheddar cheese, granny smith apple slices, and house made cranberry mayo served on grilled multigrain bread. This sandwich looked as good as it sounded and met the taste challenge. The thick turkey slices were moist, the bacon crisp, and the cranberry mayo in just the right proportion. The crispness to the outside of the tasty multigrain bread added a nice texture contrast. The apple slices added a note of sweetness. Sandwiches come with fries and these were well above average with their crispy coating. My lunch companion ordered the Fully Loaded Firehouse Wrap ($12). Choosing crispy over grilled chicken, mild among the sauce choices, and ranch over blue cheese, the remaining ingredients of bacon, Monterey jack, romaine and tomato literally rounded out the stuffed warm, flour tortilla. She was really happy with how good it all tasted and made sure our bartender knew it. She also thought the fries were excellent. Service was very good and all COVID-19 restrictions were being adhered to. Definitely need to come back to try some of those other items calling out to me and check out the beer taps. read more

Sunday afternoon lunch with the family. We arrived around 1:45pm and they were just starting a party in the dining room so we were seated in the bar area. Plenty of football on the TVs with the NFL package. Place was packed by 2:15 but we were seated immediately. Menu has something for most tastes as well as a kids menu. My son had chicken fingers with fries and said they were great. Wife and I both got the Reuben as a friend recommended it to us. It was served with fries and pickles. The sandwich was packed with thick chunks of delicious corned beef. Only negative is the beef was cold. I prefer the meat on the warm side but still delicious. Fries were good as well. We ordered the shrimp as an appetizer and weren't thrilled with them. Nothing wrong, just no "wow" factor. Waitress was attentive but food was a bit slow but not bad considering the crowd they had. Just left oslattery's after dining there with my brother and girlfriend. I had garlic parm wings, calamari (hold the peppers) and a steak sandwich cooked to perfection. The appetizers both were properly cooked. Wings were crispy and white on the inside. Calamari was large white and lightly chewy. My steak sandwich with a side of mashed potatoes and side salad. Was smooth bites of tender meat with a complimenting and not over seasoned sauce. Thank you guys for the wonderful food. I have read the reviews that the owner is arrogant and rude, so both my parents came to the US from Ireland. I grew up with Irish parents. And I am a Delmar resident now. And I agree 100 percent this owner from Ireland has none of the charm of Ireland. He is rude and unwelcoming. Don't worry I will go elsewhere. read more

My wife and I are always looking for a new place to try delicious food. I drove by this establishment a few times and thought today I would give it a try. There is plenty of parking in the front and back of the building. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated with lovely Irish music playing in the background while I was there. They have a large selection of draft beer, And the seating areas felt a bit small. The waitress was very nice and sat us next to a window and handed us menu's. First thing I noticed was that everything on the menu was pricey so I hoped the food would be delicious. I got the traditional Irish onion soup and my lady got the Irish calamari for appetizers. And we both got the irishman 8oz steak burger for the main course. The calamari was pretty good and the marinara sauce was hearty and surprisingly tasty I thought the calamari had a bit of a pork rind taste to them but besides that it was very good. The onion soup however was horrible and tasted like plain boiled water and lots of herbs I was surprised when I scooped up a big spoon full of herbs while taking a sip and that was it for me. I sent it back and the waitress took it off the bill. Then the burgers came and I was surprised about how thick they were. It was a square shaped patty that looked a little over a 1/4 inch thick. I got mine medium well and after taking a bite I noticed it was a bit undercooked and warm not hot at all. The bottom bun was freezing cold when touched and the burger was a bit bland. Disappointing for a $15 burger before tax. The fries tasted better then the burger. My wife said her burger was OK nothing special. overall if your sitting at the bar and getting some appetizers it's not a bad place to stop at. But besides that it was nothing special and it wasn't terrible just average. But for the prices they charge for the quality of food I experienced brings it to below average for me. read more

My parents really enjoy this place but beyond the ambiance, I didn't experience the same. I ordered the shepherd's pie and it was A LOT. If you enjoy leftovers this might be the entree for you. It was very salty though. It's expected to be to an extent since cheese is typically a little salty but this went well beyond that. The wings were also I little soft. Very hot but not crispy. The customer service though, this is a great highlight. I do not recall his name but he was perfect attentive and pleasant. Food was great. Calamari was perfectly cooked. Espresso martini (with freshly brewed espresso) was to die for. IPA was very good. Cheese quesadilla was FULL of cheese with a nice salsa and sour cream. 4 LARGE pieces. Fish and chips was exceptional, better than any in the area. Lightly breaded and a BIG portion. Only sort of disappointment was the ruben. Tasty and LOTS of corned beef (made in house I think) but little cheese and I couldn't taste the thousand island. First visit last night for my wife and I. Had a very good experience. Decor is what you would expect for a pub/restaurant. Establishment seemed very clean and tidy. We started with a pretzel log appetizer. The beer cheese was excellent . I had the Reuben and my wife had a steak sandwich. The Reuben was piled high with corned beef and definitely will fill you up. Both sandwiches came with pub fries which were very good. Overall the food was what you want for pub fare, nothing fancy but flavorful and good. The service was excellent. We were seated right away and the wait staff was very attentive, stopping often to see if we needed anything and that everything was good. Tonight's dinner was absolutely fantastic! The service was great! Made us feel like family. We are from out of town, and are used to city type food and service. Let me tell you, the Friday special Lobster roll is to die for. Get one while you can before they sell out! The Cottage Pue was so good, it rivals any homemade one I've had! And the finale was an Oreo mousse cake. It was so light and not over answer. Our waiter, Sam was so very personable. We had a nice discussion about various things even though it was busy. How do you screw up a hamburger? By not cooking it. Hamburger was not warm or cooked all the way through- when it was returned , owner /cook reluctantly cooked it and then put it on an ice cold bun. When we complained, owner was not apologetic at all and was downright arrogant. Waitress was very good and seemed embarrassed by the owner's attitude. When the owner doesn't care about the customer, food is mediocre at best (when cooked) and the acoustics are so bad and you can't hear people talk- it is not a place I would recommend. There are plenty of restaurants that I would patron with my hard earned money- this is not one of them. Owner needs to learn about customer service. We had been looking for something different and found O'Slattery's. The food was superb. Our sons had the Fish & Chips. My husband had the Guinness Stew and I had the Reuben. Very large partions. I haven't had good luck with local takeout. Our order tonight followed the same pattern. My fish and chips did have fish, which was delicious, but no chips, nor was there the tartar sauce I ordered. Instead, I discovered a pile of asparagus. I hate asparagus. My husband's salad and baguette was also missing, although the salad dressing was included. When I called they told me if I came back I could pick up the missing food. At 7:30, we were hungry. We had company and could not return. Very solid and consistent food here. Atmosphere is comfortable and very friendly, including waitstaff and bar staff. There is always a decent crowd, but you don't usually have to fight for a seat. The family that runs the place is super pleasant. Prices are reasonable. If you go once, you are very likely to come back. But have no fear; Michelle B. is here... without any bias toward this establishment or the competition. Anyhow, the truth (and you deserve the truth) is that the Husband and I came for dinner this week and had a great experience. The few minor flaws were outweighed by good service, a nice atmosphere, and tasty beer and food. We were greeted very warmly and were offered to choose seats in either the bar area -- a larger space with hightop tables and pub decor [pics] -- or the dining room -- a smaller space with standard tables. We chose the bar area because it seemed more... special. I was immediately struck by the number of customers here at 8pm on a weeknight; every seat at the bar was taken (about 15), and multiple tables were full. With roughly 20 beers on tap and a list that includes descriptive flavor profiles (awesome), we took a few minutes to choose from the long list of draft beers [pic]. The food options here include a nice blend of traditional Irish flavors with a modern twist. We had the Snack Fish & Chips appetizer [pic], which was a perfect portion for two. The batter was light, it tasted very fresh, and was complemented nicely by the homemade tartar sauce. For dinner, I chose the grilled Dublin Gobbler sandwich [pic]. I loved the bread, and the flavors were a nice combination, but I would suggest adding more apple and maybe slicing it thicker to maintain a bit of crunch. I initially wondered if the apple had been forgotten, but found it in there when I opened up the sandwich. I was intrigued by the pretzel bun that came with the Husband's burger [pic], but he doesn't like to share, so I didn't sample his dinner until he was done with it. The burger was delicious. Juicy, tender, and perfectly cooked. I didn't get much of a taste of the bun, though, so I'll have to order my own next time... or create a distraction to steal a bite of his. Last but not least: the sweet potato fries here are REALLY GOOD. And I don't type in all caps unless I mean it. Never before have I met a thick-cut sweet potato fry that I liked, but these are AMAZING. They were even better than most thin-cut sweet potao fries I've had... if you can believe that. I need to know O'Slattery's secret to achieving such firm texture and crispy edges on a thick sweet potato fry. No mush to speak of. Wow. My one minor complaint about the service was that the entrees arrived almost immediately after the appetizer. But the food was piping hot, so aside from crowding the table with extra dishes, it turned out to be a non-issue. Each of the staff members we encountered during our visit were very friendly and seemed genuinely happy to be here. So, I'm looking forward to another visit to try more beer and food, and obviously to order extra sweet potato fries. read more

O' Slattery's is about 2 weeks open now. New restaurants often take months to have all "systems ship shape". My first experience also required a very long wait for the food but that was the second night. So patience and a sense of humor is advised. Liam, Michael, Jackie and their other partner have labored very hard to get the place opened by Christmas and they succeeded! So far I've been there 3 times; tonight will be my forth. I have faith enough to go for NewYears Eve with a party of ten. Each time my experience was better. It has all the makings of what will be one of the best places in the Capital District. The owners have the charm you would come to expect in an Irish pub. It's not an "Irish Pub Inc.". It's an original in our own back yard. Give it a chance. I brought another party of 30 in and all; I say All; thoroughly enjoyed "The Craic" ( ask an Irishman for a translation); the food and the ambience. What's needed now is perhaps routine Irish entertainment , lower lighting and better acoustics to hear your conversation. After all the pub is about friends, good food, storytelling and humor. On March 17, 2023 St Patricks Day, we decided to go here at4:30 PM; it was packed, extremely noisy, long line with waiting time of more than one hour. So, we decided to place a pick-up order and enjoy the day at home. Being an Irish day, was surprised the waitress taking the order insisted they did not have the Shepherds Pie nor the Cottage Pie which we had a previous occasion. Not wanting to spend time on finding another similar place, we settled for the Beefstew and Reuben sandwich instead. Was told order would be ready to pick up in 2 hours. Right on time showed up to pick up order and when we got home: all was ice cold !! meaning the order had been ready way before the 2 hours. When ready to eat... unimpressed with the Reuben sandwich, the Beefsteak was only chunks of chopped meat and maybe a scoop of mashed potatoes on the bottom. Really a beefstew? Awful. Understand they were busy, however, that is when the true value, the quality and the management of a place is measured. Totally disappointed. read more

I tried this place when they first opened and the service was awful and the food was no better. Plus, I found myself straddling the barrel that was used as a table stand. Strike one. Gave it another chance and ordered a Reuben, my favorite sandwich. Seeing as I was at an Irish Pub, I was figuring this one would be a home run. Ugh, no, more like a foul ball that ended up in someone's beer. The corned beef was fatty, and the bread soggy. Strike two. Ok, call me a masochist, but I ended up here again recently. I will admit, the drink (Charlie's pink lemonade) was delicious. Good thing It was cold, because the AC wasn't on and it was 80 degrees out. Asking for the AC to be turned on twice to no avail, we ended up using the sturdy menus as fans. Despite the heat, we decided to order Irish nachos and wings for appetizers. Both were good, but nothing to write home about. Next up, the main course....a chicken Caesar salad. It was served in a bowl that was too small so mixing it up was difficult and cutting the chicken a challenge. Everything kept toppling out onto the table. My friend got a salad that was supposed to come with toast "points". Not only were they not included, when she asked for them, she ended up with slices of bread.
