Overdue review. This was for January 2018 experience, I'm not sure if the staff is still the same. It was my first time snorkeling and one of the things that I was looking forward to the most on our Hawaii trip. My friends and I got a Groupon and we were lucky enough to have Captain Krash and his dog Sushi guide us. Although the waters were a bit choppy and murky we still got to see octopus and sea turtles! The photographer was an awesome guy, really trying to give everyone a picture in the water (you can purchase them afterwards). My friend and I were the last remaining in the water at the end and got super close to a sea turtle! I would have loved to see more fish but you just can't control the quality of the water and sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don't. But the main reason I'm giving them 5 stars is because of the staff! They're super friendly, funny and despite me throwing up at the end I still had a great experience! read more

I booked this tour for my friend as she was visiting Oahu for the first time and we both loved it! The staff was very friendly and we got to see some amazing views. There were many opportunities for photos and the staff made sure to ask everyone if they wanted photos. We went on the Snorkeling trip with Carlos, Brandon, and Captain Jeff. And the Sunset Cruise with Captain Krash and Carlos. Immediately, we knew we got our money's worth on the snorkeling trip when Carlos pointed out we saw a Hawksbill Turtle and proceeded to tell us all about it. I had never done something like this before. I usually avoid the ocean and animals, but I truly felt safe and enjoyed every minute of the trip. Krash and Carlos also created a great vibe on the cruise (sit on the back bench if you can:)). Bring drinks for extra fun! read more

Our Sunset Catamaran trip was such a treat. We live in Kaua'i so we are already spoiled but we went on this trip last August and repeated it again. Like all trips it had different favorite moments but each were equally great. We had a beautiful sunset, saw whales spouting and many dolphins who were running along side of the boat. The crew which is Krash, the excellent captain: Jordan, the crew who does everything else and Sushi the most lovable dog you will ever meet made it very special for everyone. To see Honolulu at sunset and the evening pastels with the lights reflecting on the water was enchanting. You will love this trip! It makes for a very special evening! read more

Hands down, this was the absolute best snorkeling adventure!!! Oahu catamarans is THE BEST!!! They don't overcrowd their boat like some of the other ones out there. They limit their boat to 25 passengers even though their boat holds 49!!! We felt comfortable with space to move around and didn't feel all crammed in like a can of sardines. I was originally going to go with their competitors but when I called they said they have 45 plus people on their small boat at one time.... I said "no thank you!" And canceled and called Oahu catamaran! The best best best ever! Probably the best water adventure we had our entire trip and I assure you we didn't everything this island had to offer that you can think of during our 11 day vacation to Hawaii!!! Don't bother going anywhere else! They had all their safety measures in place and the guide in the water as well as the captain of the boat were true professionals! Went into details about safety or not just you but the turtles and the ocean wildlife in general. You could see the love for the ocean and well as their job and the importance of ocean conservation!!! I can't believe I found an amazing deal on Groupon AND had an excellent experience. Buying Groupons often come with great risk for quality of service/product, but I feel like I lucked out with this one. Our guide, nicknamed Fabio, took us to great spots to get super close to the sea turtles and even offered to take people's cameras on deeper dives to take pictures for them. It was an awesome afternoon and I would highly recommend this trip to anyone who wants to get up close with sea turtles. The location was a bit hard to find at first among all of the other shacks on the pier, but they answer the phone right away when you call them and they are very friendly for providing directions. read more

They provide you with a snorkel and fins. This is the only place where my snorkel doesn't fog since they use the best mixture of Johnson's Baby Shampoo and Water for fog juice !! Talk about an amazing experience. We booked a "snorkeling with turtles" trip here, which consisted of getting out on the Kahala Kai with Captain Krash. It was a bit difficult to figure out which catamaran we needed to get on since the name wasn't clearly visible where it was parked, but it was all uphill from there. The tour itself lasts a couple of hours. The boat takes you about a mile off shore to an area where turtles gather because several fish that clean them happen to gather near the coral reef. The water was particularly choppy on the afternoon we went out, but they have good control over their boat. They load you up with equipment (vests, flippers, and snorkel masks) and set you out with a couple of guides. One guy has an underwater camera and looks for unique dwellers to bring back to the guests. On our trip, he located an octopus and let us take photos with it. You'll easily see a half dozen turtles and get to swim around and with them, not to mention dozens more as you ride to and from the spot. Depending on the time of day and season, there's a variety of fish that frequent the area as well. Some of the fish are more interesting than the turtles. After the snorkeling session, they have snacks (chips and cookies) and drinks (soda and water) available in the cabin of the boat as you make your way back to shore. It's a nice little touch, and comes in handy because most people probably don't even realize how much energy they expend when they get out there in the water. I definitely recommend this to anyone who makes their way out to Waikiki on a vacation. Ask for Captain Krash and the Kahala Kai. You won't be disappointed. read more

Purchased a Groupon for the snorkeling tour. Unfortunately it was cancelled due to weather conditions and we were unable to reschedule as we were leaving Hawaii before their next available date. However, I am writing this review to tell you how easy Carl was to work with booking the activity. He tried to help us reschedule as well but due to weather conditions it just wasn't working out. I'm a little late posting this, but me and my friend booked with Oahu Catamarans to do their snorkel tour last month. I've done similar tours with other businesses along this pier and overall they've all been great. Captain Krash was great, super fun to talk to and he did a great job making us all feel comfortable. Sushi was by far my favorite member of the crew. It was their adorable dog dressed like a shark haha. The only reason I'm docking a star is because the other gentleman on their crew (unfortunately didn't get his name) didn't seem the friendliest. When I asked questions, his responses were rather condescending and his tone of voice wasn't the most pleasant, kinda made me feel stupid in a way. Out in the water, he wasn't friendly either. A turtle came up to the surface of the water and I slowly approached it, but I was still well beyond 2 arms lengths away as instructed by their prior instructions. The guy kinda yelled at me and blamed me for it descending back down to the bottom of the reef, blaming me for scaring it off, which was rude and embarrassing like ? I would guess I was still about 10 feet away from it. There were only a couple of us looking at the turtle at the time, as our group was dispersed throughout the area and there were other sea turtles out swimming about us. Of course; that wasn't going to ruin my overall experience haha. I'd like to think he was just having an off day perhaps? Otherwise, for a mid-December day, we came across 5 sea turtles, a bunch of fish, and my friend and I were lucky to see a ray swimming at the bottom of the reef! I don't think anyone else saw it, but it was an impressive size. Water was a little choppy - not bad enough to cancel, but bad enough that we were all required to wear a life vest no matter our swimming skills. Overall a fun experience, but probably not my top choice company to book with. My friend bought our groupons and I'm not sure how much they cost, so I can't say anything about their prices. See for yourself though folks! It seems like people generally love this company so give it a try :-) read more

An extremely fun little surprise that ended with one of the greatest sights of my vacation: Turtles! I'll start with the one downside: there's no sign to direct you to the Oahu Catamarans. This seemed to be the issue with MANY other passengers on the boat, who kept calling the captain for insight. His response (a very kind response, no critique there) was to use Google Maps to find the exact spot of the boat. It works, but it's not a great response, and kind of a waste of time for customers. The rest of the experience was thoroughly a pleasure. The team was well informed and took the time to give a clear safety demonstration for everything being used in the Snorkel Tour. The captain was funny, informative, and thorough. The ride out into the ocean was very smooth. No complaints there. Once out in the ocean, we were equipped with our snorkels, flippers and life vests, and sent out into the beautiful warm water for an hour. Turtles were plentiful, and our guides were quick to point out areas of interest in and around the boat. Being just INCHES away from a breaching turtle was such a delight... almost inexplicable. Given that the company offers Groupon deals, the value for the Oahu Catamarans is absolutely there. I'd happily pay full price next time. PS, Sushi the dog is a very good girl. read more

Absolutely worth it! This was an incredible way to finish up our trip to Oahu. We booked a last-minute snorkel tour through Groupon (40/each instead of the usual 65). Directions were clear. Captain Krash, Glen, and Sushi welcomed us aboard on a Tuesday afternoon and we were two out of four people total on the boat. We headed out to Turtle Canyon, just off Ala Moana Beach Park. There were only one or two other boats in the area with us. The place we went to is where the sea turtles go for a cleaning (via cleaner fish). As soon as we arrived, we saw 4 turtles at once, then another 2 or so came by as well. It was absolutely magical. Fins, snorkels (+ baby shampoo to prevent fogging) and drinks/snacks on the way back provided. Snacks were nothing fancy but DEFINITELY appreciated after some time in the water. :) The crew even had fresh water to rinse off on the back of the boat. And I cannot end this review without mentioning Sushi, the awesome rescue dog that spots whales and turtles and loves dolphins. She even has her very own shark costume! Highly recommend and we will definitely be back for another snorkel tour when we are back in Oahu. read more

This boat was low key and super fun. We went for a sunset cruise and enjoyed it so much that we went back for their 3p snorkel tour. Sushi (the dog) was adorable and friendly. Captain Krash was funny and piloted well. Glenn & Rodolfo were really nice dealing with us noobs. The sunset cruise is BYOB, and they do a spread of cheese, fruit, & crackers. The snorkel tour goes to the turtle "cleaning station" and we saw many schools of fish. There's also an 11:30 "no experience necessary" light scuba excursion that we didn't have time for, but will make sure to do it next time. Basically, any boat that has a dog is gonna be a good time. read more

This was an awesome experience. Our niece took care of all the details for booking this trip. We did the 2 hour sunset tour on a Friday which included watching the firework shows from the Hilton. Captain Krash and Glen we're friendly and added to the experience. Can't forget to mention the cutest dog, Sushi! She was friendly and knew her way around the catamaran. She barked when she saw some fish and a sea turtle. It took me longer to see what she was seeing and then I saw the head of the turtle pop up out of the water. Have gone on a few catamaran tours in Honolulu & Maui---this one is my favorite. Captain Krash, Sushi, & crew Kal were so friendly, kind, & hospitable. They made sure to secure the life vests on us (some don't). Pupster Sushi kept an eye out and alerted us to marine life. In the water Kal gave a lot of information about the fish. I have been on several other turtle snorkeling tours and this is buy far the worst. Do not go with this group. They only had 2 people for 15 guests. That is simply not enough staff to properly run this. They did offer life jackets but basically shamed you if you took one. They did not ensure safety for all of the guests. One of the guests was yelling for help and other guests had to assist him to safety. Absolutely unacceptable!! The other tours I have been on where very thorough on safety protocols. They had someone in the water checking on guests. This tour....none. Go with another company, there are several to choose from read more
