"Dishonest", "unprofessional" and "unreliable" don't even begin to describe this guy. My wife and I had our wedding on the shores of Honolulu. Being naïve to professional photography, we chose Fernando, who works a side business as Oahu Hawaii Photographer. We made an appointment for our beachside reception. A deposit was also paid weeks in advance. Fernando negotiated pricing based on the fact that he'll bring an assistant, which means additional photos taken from a second perspective. Sounds cool. So far so good. T-minus one day. He texted us - in the early evening - and said he's not coming. He'll send a substitute, his coworker Piloni. They shared a common boss at their day jobs. Piloni was incompetent in his own right, but more on that later. What Fernando did was change a significant portion of the plans we made for the most important day of our lives. And when did he do that? The night before. Once our reception came around, guess what? No assistant. We rolled with that and paid the full original price, which included an assistant. Our assumption was that our photos would turn out okay. They didn't. They were bland and unvaried. Piloni seemed disinterested in his work. Appearing bored, he made some comment about our reception being too quiet and reserved. He failed to even take a photo of the main sign at the venue entrance that displayed the bride and groom's names and our wedding date. The saga continues. We voiced our concerns with Fernando and Piloni. They were both combative. I then took the matter up with their boss. He was an awesome guy, and helped us in whatever way he could. But Fernando, as part of some nonsensical "eye for an eye" rationale, bizarrely decided to research where I worked and call my company to randomly badmouth me, his paying client, in retaliation! What a laugh. No one took him seriously. This kind of imbalanced thinking is probably not what you're looking for in a photographer however. In an attempt to gain my personal information, he also called me and pretended to be someone else. Yes, you read that right. In the end, it was better that Fernando wasn't part of our reception. But that doesn't exactly make our experience with him pleasant. Thankfully we used PayPal to send him the deposit, and were able to recover it through our credit card company. "Nightmare"? After taking a few shots, he came to us during our main course and told us, "Nothing else to shoot". He assured us he got everything. Being busy as brides and grooms are, we trusted his confident demeanor. Toward the end of the day we paid the friend without thinking much or questioning him about the assistant issue. After two weeks, when we received our photos, they were a nightmare. They were totally incomplete, and of amateur quality. Fernando's friend even missed the main reception table that had all our decorations and photos. Shockingly he also didn't even get the main wedding sign displaying our names. In three hours, he had three photos of the reception venue, at the same spot and composition. In response to our complaints, the friend said "I did you a favor" despite pocketing our $750. We e-mailed Fernando to see what his response would be. Sadly I have never heard a word from him since. He has ignored more than a dozen e-mails. I was devastated for days and nights. I can't redo or repeat the moments that were missed and I will regret this my whole life. He has been trying to run away from the truth by closed the accounts on the trusted website that permanently displaying the review I wrote. When my wife and I began the process of looking for photographers for our wedding, we started with recommendations from friends and the wedding planner from the hotel we were married at, but ultimately weren't finding anyone we were pleased with. We turned to Google and from all the photographers we found on Yelp, Fernando definitely stood out among the crowd. From the first time we talked to Fernando, we knew we had found our guy. He was extremely accommodating, confident in himself and his work, and had amazing suggestions when it came to finding locations for both our engagement shoot and the pictures in between our ceremony and the reception. He was simply the best! On the day of the wedding, he was fantastic. He was there when we wanted him to be to take the specific pictures we wanted with our friends and family and he stayed out of everyone's way when it came to getting all of the action shots. He did an amazing job of truly capturing the excitement of our big day. After the wedding, Fernando has been amazing. He had the photos ready when promised and the quality was superb! He will ignore each and every of your e-mails and try to run away from truthful testimonials. Second, today Fernando who seems more and more like a con artist, had the guts to call my husband's employer to talk trash about my husband! I didn't know Fernando's lack of professionalism had something to do with my husband's software. A foolish action by someone trying to hide from legitimate testimonials - someone who's also confused about who's writing the testimonials and whose husband isn't! What a wonderful experience! We hired OHP to take family portraits during our vacation to the North Shore in March of 2015. Fernando is very professional and engaging! Communication with him before the shoot was excellent -- our questions and suggestions were met with quick, helpful answers. During the shoot, he made us feel at ease and was good at directing us to get the best shot.
