I am on a board of directors for an association in Kailua who absolutely got ripped off to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars by this company. DO NOT EVER HIRE THEM!!!!!! I am happy to share details, documents, anything you need to help you make an educated decision. We agreed to a set of plans and a proposal. Paid two of the three installments and soon realized they had no permits, had not installed the system we paid for and had installed it so horribly that it never actually worked. The devastation this company left behind is absolutely criminal. They are not capable of doing anything irrigation or sprinkler system related. I had used Oahu sprinkler on a prior occasion. I was very pleased with the employees and the work they completed. When my sprinkler system quit working I called Oahu sprinkler. Made appointment, worker shows up and fixes the sprinkler system, replaces a few sprinkler heads and tells it all good. After the system ran through its cycle it started over a again and again. Chris is the guy that comes to my house whenever we have issues. No complaints from me, he gets the job done and knows his stuff. I don't have anything to compare it to so no idea if they are more expensive or not. THIS COMPANY IS A RIP OFF!!! I called Oahu Sprinkler on Friday, July 15, 2022 and was fortunate to get service on my sprinkler system that afternoon. My issue was the gardener cut the line and I was only getting water to the backyard and alley. So, no longer had that gardener then I unfortunately done the same being new gardener cut the same line which meant not getting water to the front yard as well. I expressed the current situation to Mr. Nick from Oahu Sprinkler. He came to my home and saw the line was cut. A simple action of reconnecting the wires and checking the other was completed which I watched. He also checked my sprinkler system and changed the setting to accommodate watering the evening then left after paying receiving payment of $175.00. That evening no water in the backyard and alley just the front. I watered the grass over the weekend and doing the week. Today, Monday, July 25, 2022, Mr. Nick was able to come back to my home but I was not present just my daughter to assist with service. He explains to my daughter that the gardener must have cut the same line that was fixed just the previous week while she is video face timing me. I told my daughter to talk privately with me and to inform Mr. Nick that he was not going to get paid. Mr. Nick called me and was very upset regarding the matter stating, he drove from Kaneohe to provide service and that he should get paid for his time. I expressed to him that there has not been any gardening service and I have not cut any grass nor my neighbor for this line to be cut again. He became even more upset stating, I was wrong for not paying him another $165.00 and accused me of accusing him of cutting the line which I never said but let him know it was really weird that the same line was cut again. Mr. Nick did not fix the same line and hung up the phone on me. Now, this is my personal belief that since I told Mr. Nick I was not going to be home but my daughter HE did cut the line and wanted her to pay for the same service again. Also, just for argument sake, Mr. Nick had to come back to my home regardless to find out why there was no water in the back to complete the original service of ensuring the sprinkler system works correctly and he should had fixed the line without payment to say everything was done right. That is truly excellent customer service and I will never recommend this company to any one and hope all others beware!!!! read more

I called today (Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018) to schedule an appointment to have my sprinkler system repaired at my home. The receptionist confirmed my appointment for Friday, October 19, 2018 at 10am-12pm. Later in the day I received a call from the receptionist informing me they will have to cancel/reschedule my appointment due to an emergency repair for another customer. Chris was wonderful, He came on time, reviewed the prices to replace our sprinkler timer before starting the job, the installation was quick and neat, reviewed the functions of the newly installed timer and made certain we understood the functions and features, and event went as far as checking all of our sprinklers and replacing the broken sprinkler heads. I spoke to Toby at 518-0127, asking for information on the cost of installing something so we are not charged sewer, every time our sprinkler is running. His first response was, I am not sure that this will reduce your sewer charges, it depends on the size of your yard, the amount of water used, he offered to check on this and call me back. He did call me back after few hours he contacted the Board of Water Supply, and discovered that we have to go thru them and buy the type of equipment they mandate. He said it is not available here, but, the cost are on the high side, and I wonder if our water bill savings will be worth it for the short term. He said for the long term it may be beneficial, he offered to do more work analyzing our water bill, and visiting our home to help us make the right decision. Where do you find this type of honesty, service with no guaranty to him for any return?. I recommend him highly for his ethics, honesty, and hard work. I made an appointment and two men came to my home to evaluate my sprinkler requirements. After we walked around my yard and discussed it, they told me they would get me a quote in a day or two. After a few days I called and left a message asking when I could expect to receive the quote. I never heard back. This is poor service and rather puzzling. Why go to the trouble of coming to my house to see the job and then not give me a quote? Anyway, given this irresponsibility, I can not recommend this company. read more

Ryan gave me a quote 3 weeks ago over yelp messaging without visiting my home. I waited two and a half weeks for the appointment today, when Chris quoted me over double what Ryan quoted and Chris could not honor Ryan's quote. Ryan clarified that upon visiting the site, Chris noted additional site specific labor costs. I should have realized that the initial quote may not have been accurate without a site visit but it would have helped if Ryan was less confident and more tentative in his initial quote, or given some caveats in his initial quote. read more

Three years ago, I had Oahu Sprinkler put in a complete irrigation system and professional landscape lighting. They did a terrific job. But the landscape lights they installed use a weird bulb that can't be found anywhere online. I found a similar bulb for 66 cents on the mainland online, but with the $85 shipping charge "to the territories!," was afraid to order it for fear that it wouldn't be the right one. Every year since, I've had to have them out for something. The usual things that go wrong with irrigation and lighting systems. Blown sprinkler head, valve stopped working, light out, etc., etc. It's these follow-up visits that make me dock stars from the rating. These visits are always close to $500 a pop. $160 just to show up. Rayna in the office is always wonderful, and Jordan and Chris know what they are doing and show up when they say they will. This last time, they fixed everything well except replacing one of the landscape light bulbs. I took pictures of the bulb and fixture and texted them. We went round and round. Finally, after I convinced them I wasn't going to pay the $450 invoice until the light got fixed, I was able to send a friend to their office to pick up the bulb and some spares for $25 each. They wanted to charge another $160 to come out with the $25 bulb and replace it. Sheee! I can't believe little, low voltage bulbs cost that much. Other than being expensive, these guys are great. read more

I reached out to Oahu Sprinkler for a quote through Yelp and within an hour Carlyn called me to setup an appointment to get an estimate. Chris came to my house right on time and quickly assessed the problem. He gave me a few solutions to address the problem. He was very professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. Good price for their work. After he fixed my sprinkler system he tested them to make sure they were in great working order and showed me how to adjust the sprinkler heads as well. I used Oahu Sprinkler Twice in 2016 and was very happy with their service. I called in July 2017 because my huge yard was getting brown in spots and my gardener was out of town. The company was great and they sent my tech right out. I explained that my water bill was very high and I needed to find out if I had a leak or broken sprinkler head somewhere, something that would explain the big increase in my water bill. After checking all the valves (12 in all) the tech said my old ones were so old and all were leaking. He said he could replace them and Fix some broken sprinkler heads and that would get me back to normal. He worked most of the day. When he was done he came and presented me a bill for $2202.88. I was stunned!!!! He explained that the valves were over $100 a piece and the number of sprinkler heads he replaced was huge. I guess so. He insisted he had checked everything and my yard would be good to go now. (I was going out of town and didn't want my yard to brown out before I left.) I paid the bill and beat my self up for being stupid. I could have bought the valves from Home Depot and had my gardener change them when he returned. Live and learn! I left on my vacation and two weeks later my neighbor called to tell me my yard was brown in the same spot as before (right in the middle of my front yard. I told him to call Oahu Sprinkler. He did and they came out and adjusted the run time longer on that sprinkler head. He left a bill for an hour at $85 dollars plus the $45 service charge. I couldn't believe it. I just paid $2208.88 to fix that problem and now it's another 136.13. The brown spot continued and my water bill went from $400 a month to $600 a month for the next 3 months. A friend I complained to came over and checked every sprinkler head in my yard and found a sprinkler head broken and acting like a fountain. It was in the zone the tech had increased the time to 12 minutes everyday. If he had actually checked the sprinkler heads on his first or second visit he would have discovered the problem and the reason my yard was turning brown and my water bill was up so high. In total I feel ripped off. I have called and left messages for the owner, Ryan, who is never in but haven't received a call back. They took advantage of this old lady. read more

Just about as unprofessional and unresponsive a business you can find! A lot of Hawaii businesses have the reputation of not being very responsive (i.e., don't return phone calls) and not being punctual. Oahu Sprinkler takes that to a whole new level--they don't return phone calls, respond to voicemails and aren't just late in showing up for a scheduled appointment, they don't show up at all--and without even the common courtesy of calling you to let you know they aren't showing up! When you call the "office", you usually get voicemail and when you leave a message they usually don't call you back. The "office" sounds like it's in someone's home with kids in the background. Take my advice and save yourself some frustration: DO BUSINESS ELSEWHERE. read more

The recommendation to bypass the pressure regulator was the right one since the sprinklers have a lot of pressure and provide good coverage. EXPENSIVE! I had called Oahu Sprinkler for a quote to fix part of a broken sprinkler system that a home inspector had identified during a home inspection on a sale property. I met with Tony at the site and he tested the sprinklers and found that everything was working properly and the home inspector made a mistake. Since there was no repair quotes needed, we concluded and left the property. I received a call from Oahu Sprinkler asking me where to send the bill. I didn't realize that I would be charged for 1 HOUR when the actual call only took about 15-20 mins. The total charge was over $100! I disputed with the person who called me and her manager told me that they would charge only a $45 service fee. I am much happier that the charge was significantly reduced, however I still don't feel like I should pay $47.12 for what should have been a free repair estimate. Bottom line, I will NEVER use Oahu Sprinkler AGAIN! TOTAL RIP OFF! read more

I had a problem with a very high water bill. I checked my meter and found no leaks so the sprinkler system was the likely problem. I called Oahu sprinkler to come and take a look. They sent out one of their people who looked over my 6 zone system. He told me a number of valves were leaking which caused the high water usage. To prove the point , he ran the system then turned it off, showed me the valves with water coming out of their bases when shut down. He told me that replacing three valve would fix the problem. I agreed , but didn't ask the cost. When finished, I was presented with a bill over $800. I though it was high, but if it would stop wasting water, would be worth it. As it turns out, the fix did not reduce my water bill. I then found out that valves when working properly drain the water in the sprinkler lines when shut off. Ripped off. I would not have written this but after viewing other reviews, found Oahu Sprinkler has used this method to milk other clients as well. Also , It appears that their "service" people are free to charge what they think will be paid , and keep the difference from the actual charges. Explained to me by another company who now monitors my system. Very dishonest. read more

He really knows what he's doing and he's willing to take the time to research and make suggestions if he thinks there is a more efficient way to do something and he's willing to explain things and doesn't mind that I ask 20 questions, I like to know what's going on as much as possible just for future reference.
