I will never go back. In their new location the service is worse than ever. They have self seating and shared sections so the wait staff doesn't know when you arrived or if you were served by someone else. We actually left after 20 minutes when we hadn't been acknowledged once. read more

Great service, great food, great drink specials. My only complaints were that we had a reservation and they didn't actually reserve a table. We had a group of 5 and the best they could do was a booth for 4 with a chair at the end. They had a hostess, why would it be seat yourself? A group of two were in a booth for 6! Went here 2nd day it was open and had great service and the food order was decent-salmon bowl. The happy hour drink specials are quite nice. It's a little loud but manageable. However came back tonight and the service was quite poor. Waited awhile before we were addressed by a server (problem with seat yourself restaurants) and she admitted to "spacing out". Then as we were ordering, she admitted to "having a brain fart" and we had to repeat ourselves. Our food came and we didn't have any napkins or cutlery. The toppings of the pizza I ordered, Primavera, fell right off the crust-no good. We were brought different drinks then we ordered and charged different things on our bill. The service here was HORRIBLE. I am East Indian, and so is my boyfriend. We went there for drinks and were dancing and minding our own business when a bouncer came up to us and asked my boyfriend to tuck his chain away. FOR WHAT? If this was something to do with gang-relation, okay BUT isn't that racially profiling that he's east Indian and wearing a chain? Then they can write that on their website... that no chains are allowed. Either train your bouncers with more respect or make your rules clear. We heard good things about this place so off we go for lunch. They have quite a good menu selection. I was definitely eyeing the pizza as they have a stone pizza oven. We decide to share the house salad and a stuffed burger. The house salad had a nice light dressing and was not drowning in it either. Bonus that they split it into 2 bowls for us without us asking. The burger was good. The cheese and bacon stuffing oozed out when I cut the burger. I liked that they didn't skimp on the red onions on the burger. Overall, it was good and there were lots of other items that I would like to try ... Especially the pizza. We saw another table get one and it looked pretty big. Great affordable food with great service. My family and i went there for brunch and we had an amazing breakfast for $4-6. However, waitresses, in my opinion were rather dressed inappropriately for that time of the day. The food is really good. The service okay but this place is really loud and not a good place to go to if you actually want to hear anyone including service people. I would give this a 3 but we were also told that you have to make reservations a month in advance which I think is a bit pretentious for this area. We thought we would try it based on a friend's recommendation so we certainly didn't know a month ago. I think my husband would come back for the sports but I will give it a pass except to order out. And even now as we finish dinner we can't figure out if this is a restaurant or a pub so maybe they need to decide and focus on that. read more

Wish I could give this place a zero. They served me a tequila lime salad and it tasted like Dijon mustard. When I complained that I couldn't eat a mustard salad they served me the Lettuce on the side not even trying the tequila lime salad dressing. Again it tasted like mustard lettuce. No apology. Been working on this pub for some time now. Moved into the neighbourhood couple years ago. Old haunt was the Town Hall! An older brother of the Oak, but the Oak has to grow up. Seems they can't get the food up to par with the 'Hall'. Same menu but it just seems that it needs a big Tweak to bring it up. Staff? LOVE THEM, all good there. Get those stuffed Wings STUFFED full! Walnut Grove has needed a place like this for a while. Nice to see a pub doing things right. Visited recently on a Monday night. Canucks were playing yet my friend and I were able to find a seat easily.Ordered a drink off their menu (some mixed cocktail) was not a fan, but was going to sip at it anyways... Waitress noticed I hadn't really touched my drink 1/2 way through dinner, she offered to get me something else as per their policy. Was very happy with this! Ordered a Salmon Curry bowl - wasn't expected the freshest salmon being a pub, but was very decent for what I paid. Friend had pesto chicken quesadillas and she said they were really good. For a decently sized place, the dance floor was tiny, and the area around the bar to get from one end of the place to the other was incredibly crowded. The music is what you'd expect for Langley; generally average hip hop and pop and Taylor swift a few times-not really great. But what annoyed me the most was the fact that there was no alcohol in the first few drinks my friends and I had-they made the drinks out of view and when we got them, we all noted they just tasted like coke or cranberry juice. I ordered another vodka crab later, she made it in front of me and I saw she added the vodka. It tasted far different. My friends and I will probably not return-a busy place for incredibly average time and no alcohol to make it tolerable. :( read more

Went here for lunch and the food and service were good. Don't expect the same after 6 pm. I was staying at the hotel next door and went over for some takeout. First I tried calling, no one answers the phone here so don't bother. When I walked over the hostess told me to order at the bar. I walked over to the bar and watched the two make bartenders ignore me for 10 minutes while they helped young ladies that came up after me over and over again. I see a lot of comments about racism, I've never experienced it or seen it come from anyone at the door or any of the bartenders. This is my go spot when I want to dance and drink, a place that's not so close to home but definitely worth the 30 min drive! Everyone here is really nice - on weekends the servers are super busy, but always provide the best service they can. The bartenders are awesome; they treat you like you're a friend and constantly check up on you to see if you're good. The music starts off with late 90s, early 2000s (my personal fave) at about 10pm-10:30pm and at about 11pm changes to top 40s and party music for the rest of the night, the dance floor is usually packed and backs on top a portion of the seating area but everyone looks like they're having a great time. The age range is pretty wide spread from 19 year olds to 30 year old even a couple weeks ago saw a little bit of an older crowd host a Christmas Party there! Will definitely continue going here all year round! read more

Wednesday two co-workers and myself went to the Oak and Thorn Public House for lunch. I have celiac disease so I requested a gluten free menu. I ordered Natchos off the gluten free menu and advised the waitress it is important they are gluten free. When they arrived at the table the chips looked like pita chips rather than natcho chips. I queried the waitress about this and she assured me the chips were in fact gluten free. After my lunch I went home and spent the afternoon in the washroom and vomited for many hours. My guess is that the meal was not gluten free and I advise everyone to steer clear of this establishment if you have any dietary restictions as it doesn't seem they take them very seriously. read more

this had been our second time there, the service was slow and it wasn't that busy, when it came to the food my friend had ordered a tequila chicken salad and it had a blonde hair which to me was unacceptable she did get a free salad and also a coupon which was nice of them. the issue that my boyfriend and I have is that we don't know if it's a restaurant or a pub since they serve drinks and allow children inside, the servers dress code were messy and unorganized, they had black skirts and black fish like stockings which didn't even match and once again they allow children. over all it could be a great place to hang out, but they need to get organized. read more
