a plate of doughnuts

We celebrated our son's graduation here. Everything was good from the food, the ambience to all our servers. The place was awesome too. We loves everything and also their mini donuts was soo yummy too. Lastly, the cost was not bad too. We will definitely be back!

I genuinely loved this place! I'm surprised it only has 2 1/2 stars. The service was great and during happy hour the beer was 3$!!! THREE DOLLARS!! The food was tasty too, although I suppose it's true that it was nothing special - the burger I got did remind me somewhat of a fast food burger instead of a sit down restaurant burger, so I feel like if I came here all of the time I would eventually tire of it. But the arcade section was fun and there is also live music which is great. I would absolutely consider this a fun place to come and hang out and grab some food. Everyone was wearing plaid and cowboy hats which also made it better. Although I suppose that's the thing - it's better as a place to hang out as opposed to strictly a place to get really delicious food.

Maple Pork Belly

I was a bit surprised to see the yelp rating for The Henry. Its in a cute area of old downtown Cloverdale. Loved the decor and ambience inside. We had a great server last night! Very attentive! A few of us tried the dine out menu which was a Maple pork belly with spicy mustard, a calamari burger and a smores peanut butter brownie. The pork belly was delicious and had the right amount of sweet. The mustard it came with was not spicy and seemed like good old French's mustard! The calamari burger was different but very tasty. Just the right amount dill and the bun was so soft and fresh. Calamari was crunchy and perfectly cooked. The dessert was ok, not overly sweet but I was not a fan. Brownie too dry so perhaps overcooked? Either way I enjoyed my visit and will come back for happy hour!

The Hank's (a.k.a. The Henry) long bar with great beers in Cloverdale.

In Cloverdale near the Surrey Museum which is a great visit, is The Hank an honest and unpretentious pub. There are more varieties of beer than you can shake a stick at. We went for brunch: poached eggs on a mound of corn beef hash with salsa on the side for me. Chicken quesadillas for her. Both were delicious, served wit a smile and with a brewski came up to $40 tax and tip included.

Free fathers day breaky!!!

When it comes to Saturday breaky, I admit, I am about as hard to please as the monarchy. I may smile and say I enjoyed it, but I know inside that I have had better. Well, I can tell you for a fact, this is the best $4.00 or for that matter better than any $15.00 breakfast I have "ever" had!!!!! The chef totally nailed it! The eggs were nice large omega 3 with beautiful dark yellow yolks and were cooked perfect - sunny side up (not easy to do) and still hot when they came to the table, the spicey spuds are a work of art and the sausages I had were perfect. Even the portions ans presentation are better than anywhere I have been, and trust me, I get around.. This place is a total gem for breakfast... I wish I could give it 2 more stars. I am holding up a score card with 10.0 on it. \0/ \0/ \0/ \0/ \0/ \0/ \0/ \0/ Yay!

The total came out to be $43.50 plus tip. Fries were plentiful. The restaurant is nice and clean (although I did send my water back due to some dirt or dust in it). The wine list on "copier paper" was wrinkled with food stain on it. That was ghetto considering this calibre of restaurant One cool feature is that you can adjust the lighting at the table by pushing a button on the lamp. Parking is free. Google Maps takes you to parking lot. You may think it's wrong but it's right. Just park and go to east side of building. You'll find door there. Opposite side of building has resto called Camp Beer The service was good, and the atmosphere was lively with a nice crowd. Besides the food, I think it might be a great spot to hang out at the bar for drinks. There was a crowd starting to form at bar. I do encourage others to support this buisness vs the chain resto's of a similar calibre

We got a reservation a day before and there were plenty of spots available. They had a big drinks menu and quiet a few food options as well. Best part was that they had lots of veggie options! Here's what we got: Drinks - :: Zero-proof pineapple fizz - it def looked as good as it tasted. Very refreshing and fruity! Really enjoyed it. :: Guava aperol margarita - delicious! I could taste the guava and the spice on the rim of the glass was perfectly paired with the drink Food - :: Parmesan plenta fries - was so excited to try it, I wasn't sure what to expect. The presentation was amazing, just wish they were a big more crispy but the dipping sauce it came with was really good :: Burrata Bucatini - calabrian chili vodka cream sauce, pancetta, burrata, ricotta, thai basil, grano padano 3/5 :: Brick half chicken - pretty good! I would give it a 4/5 it was really creamy and the chicken was cooked well but I don't think it was seasoned that well. I would say for the portion size and the food, it was a bit overpriced but definitely 5/5 for the ambiance!

The ambience is old pub style with odd things on the wall big mirrors and plenty of happy customers. The food arrived within 15-20 min of our orders being taken giving us just long enough to complete our usual entree of calamari. My food was so good can't remember what my wife ordered....the portion was great I could not finish it all and it tasted just as good warmed up 2 days later it made me want to eat there that night. We were in and out just like we like it, we're not bugged every two minutes in hope of a good tip. She showed up with the food, after a few bites returned to ask if we were ok and only spoke again when it was time to leave. No problem throwing a 20.00 tip for an 80.00 meal. We found out half the restaurant was sectioned off to host a 50+ person company holiday party, and staff were dealing with the remnants of the local parade that had just concluded. One waitress was dealing with the party, while two other ladies were dashing around trying to handle the rest of the restaurant. The kitchen was backed up because of the party and the parade goers so it ended up being close to a 45 minute wait for our food (the waitress repeatedly apologized for the wait). Gave me plenty of time to watch the football game on the many TVs, and admire the decor. Clean, medium to dark wood, leaning towards minimal decor. It was certainly the type of place backed up the name: clean neighbourhood pub and even kids were welcome inside. Food finally arrived! Husband had the Black & Blue burger. From my vantage point, it looked pretty good with french fries deep fried to a nice light golden hue. It looked smaller compared to my monstrosity Turkey & Brie, and he wished there was a stronger blue cheese taste. I was pleased with the size of the Turkey & Brie sandwich, it was HUGE as far as sandwiches go. A pile of Turkey meat, thick slices of Brie (which I barely tasted, but I attribute that to Brie having a naturally subtle taste) and a nice balance of cranberry sauce and mayo in the sandwich. Points there. I was a little less impressed with the fries, it was darker and crispier. The kitchen staff were probably rushing around trying to fill the orders; I imagined my fries sat in the fryer for a little too long. Given how busy it was that night, I could understand. My husband and I also had to try the mini donuts. They came out sprinkled a heavy dose of cinnamon and chocolate dipping sauce on the side. However the donuts didn't satisfy the feelings of nostalgia... after our first donut, we realized they were like my fries; tasted a bit burnt underneath all of the cinnamon sprinkle. The waitress kept apologizing for the long wait for our food, and ended up making the donuts complimentary, and hoped we would give their place another chance. I think I may pass on the mini donuts on future visits, but in all honest I don't see why I wouldn't try their place again.

Oak is part of the JRG fam, which i find hit or miss. I'm a big fan of Livelyhood in port moody (i think they have a great chef cuz the food is usually pretty good). I went to celebrate my nephews 8th birthday there (he said his reasoning was cuz they had good breakfast, and he could watch the hockey game). It was during happy hour so there are some cheaper options. I decided to get 1 corn dog ($4), and the pretzel ($6). When they server came with the food she was like "they accidentally made you 3 corn dog". well hey i'm not complaining! The pretzel arrived and looked ROUGH. i could tell it was going to be awful, i had a few bites and was not having it, it was dry, no salt or seasoning and the dip only worked for the corn dogs. I really enjoyed the corn dogs, they were fresh and tasty! I ended up letting the server know i was not happy with the pretzel and that it was dry and very bland. I usually have decent experiences here, the service is good, nice layout and the food is decent, but this pretzel was rough. She was really nice about my feedback and when my bill came, it was only $4. Thankfully she had taken the pretzel off my bill and was super super nice about it. Shoutout to Breanne! Maybe it's time to switch up the pretzel recipe but all in all, oak is a decent place if you're looking for pub food in langley. I prefer it over townhall for some reason.
