OK, I don't know anybody who actually looks forward to visiting the dentist, however, that has all changed since I found Dr Chidester and his incredible staff. I hate to admit it, but it's been a very long time since I had seen a dentist, so after an extensive search looking for a new one my fellow Yelpers refused to fail me once again. There is a reason they have a 5-Star rating on Yelp! My initial reaction was with Kiki in the office. I was completely lost with how to handle my new insurance but she took my information and had me set up in no time. She even followed up with me a few hours later to let me know that everything had cleared and confirm my appointment. As I type this, I currently have a LOT of work to be done on my teeth, but my experiences thus far have been nothing short of, dare I say, almost enjoyable. Barb & Anna are wonderful dental hygienists. Being a naturally inquisitive creature, they walk me through every step, not only telling me what they're doing but also why. They're also gentle, yet very effective, in their handling which is really surprising. Dr Chidester is also an immensely likable, no-nonsense doctor with decades of experience under his belt. The office also offers payment plans if you're unable to pay for everything up front. I'm so glad that I found this office and can not recommend them enough! read more

I've been avoiding going to the dentist over the last year and a half because I know my wisdom teeth are coming in. Sure enough a few weeks ago my bottom one started showing so I gathered the courage and made an appointment. The staff here are so friendly and welcoming. I love Dr. Chidester's sense of humor and it's especially needed when you may be nervous! He's very welcoming also which is why I continue to come back. They provided me an awesome oral surgeon recommendation and some tips. I definitely recommend them if you are looking for a friendly, new dentist in this area! read more

Truth is the office bribes their patients into writing reviews for raffle prizes. They over book all the time. Canceling appointments scheduled 6 months prior. Very unprofessional and disrespectful. They overcharge and I would not be surprised if they have been investigated for wrongful charges to your insurance. read more

It's been a few years now that I went to Dr. Chidester but I still habe night mares about him. His staff members are great.However Dr. Chidester is not the one. I had bridgwork done and he did not match the color of my teeth and I told him they didn't match and he argued with me about it. I was stuck because he would not change and it's been a few years and now I have different color of whit caps on one side than the other. It was my money that paid for them cash and since then he taught me a lesson. When I'm spending my money for a product I get it my way or else no payment. I sbould have done that then and really regret it now. He is old and time to retire and stop messing up customers teeth. Remember you were warned. If he does fluff worm he is ok but nothing beyond cleaning because he doesn't do the actual work and he is NOT cheap. read more

I've been going to Dr. Chidester for about the past 5 years and I love their office! I've never had any of the staff be rude to me, I've been extremely pleased with their work, and they actually remember things you talked about with them the previous visit. At least 2 or 3 other girls in my office now see Dr. Chidester based on my recommendation, and they've been very pleased as well. He also does a great job making shots not hurt as bad and I've never thought he was heavy-handed. I will continue to recommend him when someone asks if I know a good dentist. read more

I hate to be the girl that's all like "I respectfully disagree," but I TOTALLY respectfully disagree with the last review for this business. I went last week for a dental check-up (my first one there) and the entire staff treated me with kindness and was incredibly efficient. The entire check-up appointment took about 45 minutes, including x-rays, cleaning time, and a lengthy lecture on flossing. Perhaps some of the angst from the last review was compounded because of the stress of the situation. The dentist's office is not my choice spot either, partly due to bad orthodontic experiences in my teen years. However, the entire experience was made right by the efficiency of the staff - before I had even taken my coat off or had the pleasure of sitting for a short eternity in a waiting room chair, I was back in the exam room having x-rays taken. While I was having x-rays taken, the dental hygenist was preparing to clean my teeth. After the hygenist cleaned my choppers and during a detailed explanation on all of the finest points of flossing. Dr. Chidester was there to check out my teeth, x-rays, and provide me with his expert opinions. No cavities! It's unfortunate that the last reviewer had such a bad time at Dr. Chidester's office, but that truly displays the subjectivity of Yelp. I had an almost enjoyable (because c'mon, it's still the dentist) time during my recent visit to Oak Brook Dental and am almost looking forward to going back in 6 months for another cleaning. read more

Came to see Dr. Chidester from a family referral. I had a broken tooth and most likely needed a crown. He was not only nice and professional, but extremely good at what he does. I have been a patient here for about 2 years. All the practitioners I have seen have been very thorough and not pushy. The office is well organized and have always had nothing but a pleasant and efficient service. The different procedures I have had here from basic cleanings to getting crowns placed have always been painless and worry free. My kids loved going on our first visit. The hygienist decked them out in masks and gloves to be assistants for the child not in the seat! They keep asking to go back. The staff as a whole is very helpful and worked out plans with us for payment. The services are provided as necessary and they have a responsive network of specialists - my husband was able to get a same day dentist and specialist appointment. I am a doctor (with a bit of dentistry training) and I love Dr Chidester. I have been going here for years and taking my whole family as well. He has a very professional office staff, and they are very stable (almost no turnover - which is the sign of a good place to work), and they have always treated me and my family well. They do seem to have fun and enjoy working together and there is a bit of levity, but never anything I would consider unprofessional, so I am shocked by the other comments. Dr Chidester is from the old school of dentistry and that is a great thing. Unlike these young dentists, who recommend things be done that don't need to be for their pocketbook health not for your dental health, Dr C has never recommended I do things that did not need to be done. I believe that the teeth you were born with is as good as it gets, and doing things that don't need to be done can only lead to problems down the road. I like being able to trust my dentist's recommendations and not be second guessing - is he suggesting this because he needs the money or because I really need to get this done? Secondly, he knows when to send out to specialists and he does not keep work that is beyond his skill level in order to profit for doing it. I had a young dentist really screw me up before I cam here with a badly done root canal and an ill fitting crown that gave me TMJ syndrome and really messed me up. Dr C got it all straightened out. I love the care I get from Dr C and his staff. It is a friendly place to visit. read more

This place is great! They are very flexible with scheduling and efficient with your time; I've never waited more than 5 minutes beyond my appointment time. I feel that the entire staff is very friendly and it is a bit more laid back atmosphere than some other dentists I've had in the past. I don't interpret that as "unprofessional" like some of the other reviewers because I think having a dentist and staff being personable and jovial helps make the trip to the dentist more comfortable and relaxed. And the bottom line is... Dr. Chidester does great work and he tries to make it as painless as possible. What more can you ask for? read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Chidester for 7 yrs - after too many trials and tribulations at other dental offices in the area left me and my parents feeling like we were expected to fund the college educations (ourselves) through dental payments the doctor would receive to keep my teeth and mouth healthy. That's not the case at Oak Brook Dental. Prices are fair, work ethic - phenomenal. First and foremost, the entire office staff is friendly and personable. The greeting I receive when returning from college and now veterinary school is amazing. It's as though I was there a few days ago, even when it's been 6 months. The conversation is so light, so fun, I'm initially nervous at the thought of going to the dentist, yet I forget I'm at the dentist when I walk in the door...What I also notice is the cleanliness and tidyness of the office itself, the doctors, the staff, the instruments used. OBDA is precisely how I expect the office I work at as a vet to run when I'm out of school. The compliments I receiveof a beautiful smile and the fact that my mouth/teeth feel clean and healthy, is testament to my teeth are receiving both the medical and cosmetic attention they need, and at a very fair price. Let me start out by saying that I am fortunate as to have not had any major dental issues throughout my life, therefore I am limited in the depth of dental work I can speak of at Oak Brook Dental. However, I did use invisalign treatment through Oak Brook Dental, and couldn't be happier. I found Dr. Chidester about six years ago with change of employer (i.e. dental insurance). Honestly, I found the practice based on location and some limited online reviews. I am writing this as I was just in this week for my regularly scheduled cleaning, and it is fresh in my mind. I have always found the practice to be friendly and professional. The employees are respectful and appreciative of the patients and go out of their way to explain what they are doing, why it is important, and various ways to keep up that maintenance at home. Dr. Chiderster himself is a great dentist. I saw someone else mention his age in this review. Frankly, that is disappointing to see that someone's age is the basis of judgment and not the quality of their work. I have never found his age to be a hindrance to any of his work. In fact, I have found his experience to be a breath of fresh air in an industry that has been slowly creeping into a shady side of snake-oil salesman pushing unnecessary treatments. Dr. Chidester is there because he enjoys his work, and that is clear when speaking to him. He doesn't rush out of the office after examining your teeth, rather takes some time to ask about life, work and family. Oak Brook Dental is a quality practice, and I highly recommend it! read more

I had been a patient of Dr. Chidester for many years but recently had a few experiences that have made me begin searching for a new dentist. I received the Invisalign treatment through Dr. Molis at the Oakbrook Dental Affiliates office. Towards the end of my Invisalign treatment, I had a checkup and cleaning with Dr. Chidester. He was not pleased with the result of the Invisalign (I wasn't unhappy but I'm not the expert) and insisted that I see Dr. Molis to have it fixed. When I came in for my appointment with Dr. Molis, he asked why I was there and made me feel like an idiot. I explained that Dr. Chidester insisted that I come in and Dr. Molis proceeds to bad mouth Dr. Chidester and tell me that he has no idea what he's doing and he recommended that I think twice about using him as my dentist. Are you kidding me? I thought these 2 were in business together and now as a patient, I'm having to listen to the 2 of them bad mouth each other. Very unprofessional. The icing on the cake was my experience with the front office staff. When I began Invisalign, they contacted my insurance and figured out how much I would have to pay out of pocket. Before they would begin treatment, I had to pay this amount (over $2,400!) which I did. I had treatment for 2 years and they billed my insurance quarterly for their portion. For a year after my treatment, I received statements from Oakbrook Dental & every time I called, they said not to worry, that my insurance just takes their time paying. The last statement I received was noted that insurance has paid all they will and I owe $700. I called to find out how that could be and I was rudely told that insurance was my problem and I needed to deal with it. Really? insurance is my problem? Yet they handled all of it in the first place. So, I call my insurance and explain what they told me and the agent disagreed and explained that since they contract with my insurance that IT IS actually their problem to resolve this. After weeks of back and forth and hours on the phone with my insurance, it was found that Oakbrook Dental hadn't submitted some bills and had submitted others wrong. So, had I not followed through with my insurance, I would have been paying $700 for their mistake yet they wouldn't even assist me in getting to the bottom of it. Bottom line, front office staff and both dentists are completely unprofessional and I will be taking my business elsewhere!! Also, I would agree with the other reviewer...Dr. Chidester does talk down to the front office staff! read more

The receptionist and dentist are INCREDIBLY RUDE!!!!! I called because we never recieved our daughters records in the mail (we need them so she can start kindergarten) the receptionist said she mailed them and refused to re-mail them, I told her id like to speak with the dentist and the detist was WORSE he told me I didnt know how to open my mail, we had absolutly no manners and talked to me like it was my fault that his receptionist didnt mail them to us. I would rather my teeth rot then go back! NEVER have I been treated so rudely. read more

Do not go here if you have DMO, they make you sign a paper that basically says that they have the right to balance bill you what should be the contractual disccount. They charge $300, your insurance pays $150, they balance bill you the other $150. They will also do "therapeutic drug" cleansing, basically a mouth rinse...and they know that is not covered by your insurance! Don't go here! read more

I have gone to this office twice and will never return. I have never been treated so rudely by who I assume was the office manager, because she was dressed professionally and not in scrubs. I had to bring my 1 year old and 4 year old to my cleaning with me. The baby was asleep in his stroller for the entire hour and my 4 year old was very quite and read his book the whole time. However on my way into the back office to get my cleaning, she very rudely look at me with my two children and quote said to me "This is not a child friendly office" even though they offer a pediatric dentist on Wednesdays that my 4 year old went to once. Mind you we were the only people in the office there were no other patients for my children to bother. She then proceeded to say to me to my back as I walked by "It called a babysitter!" I told her I had no other choice but to bring them with me it was either this or I didn't get my teeth clean to which she responded "Husband?" I should have walked out right then but I didn't, I had already invested this time to get my teeth cleaned. I would have understood if my children were climbing the walls, and I would have been the first one to walk out and take them home if they had be misbehaving or bothering anyone, but they weren't and her comments were completely uncalled for, extremely unprofessional, and my entire family is currently looking for a new dentist! read more
