As written for an article I wrote for the Bakersfield Voice in 27 November 2008:…read more --- "I went into my new dietitian with fear and doubt in my heart. I came out with hope. She was totally young and friendly, and was definitely healthy (at least by all outward appearances). Although she has never had an eating disorder, she took me seriously, and told me she has worked with eating disordered patients for 8 years. After getting her BS in dietetics, she attempted to start her internship, but they had none available. So she decided to get involved in a research project where she surveyed youths about eating disorder behaviours. From that, she started a healthy body image and eating disorder seminar that she would give in health classes. To me, this is so awesome because this is exactly what I want to do some day- I want to work with adolescents with eating disorders as a dietitian, as I began to exhibit eating disordered behaviours when I was ~ 8 years old myself. Of course, her past experience touched my heart. Then she said that doing all the research really interested her in helping those with eating disorders, but she didn't know where to go in Bakersfield to do so. Well, she found a therapist (Katherine Smith- the woman I was supposed to be seeing now, but she had to refer me to another therapist as she is resigning from her practise) and they began working together 8 years ago. She was completely open and honest and we even went over a small meal plan (not too overwhelming) to start me back on the road to recovery. She honestly listened to everything I had to talk about. Hilariously enough, she doesn't like my previous dietitian either, and even cracked a joke about her. Heheheh. So that totally put me at ease that we were on the same page. And get this (and this REALLY had me reeling): SHE was the one who brought up the tube, after she had heard that I had an NG at Remuda Ranch. She said she really recommended me for the PEG this time as it would be more long-term and wouldn't be so obvious (like the NG, for example). I was shocked that she would bring it up without me asking that I started tearing up. So she wanted me to work on the meal plan, call the surgeon tomorrow ("he's a young, hip Indian doctor- I think you'll like him"), and then call her about when the appointment is. I'm just...shocked and a little scared. But happy that I've found someone who just listens, who isn't talking about their past, who wants to move forward, and who is on the same page. Thanks, Diane Campbell, for restoring my faith." --- Edit, as of 3 March 2009: Just wanted to update this article, as it was written nearly 5 months ago. Diane is still my dietitian, and I credit her greatly for my continuing motivation (though, of course, fighting the behaviours has not been all sunshine and rainbows, you know?). What's more is that, unlike any other professionals I've seen, she is constantly in contact with me- by phone calls, e-mail, and even text message (on my cell phone). However, I'd like to point out that she does NOT cross professional boundaries, and makes sure not to just become an "expensive friend with some good advice." I also really appreciate that she doesn't just throw some random "healthy meal plan" at me, and expect me to just do it. Right now, for example, even though the amount I am eating is, by any "normal" standards, much too low, she realises that any more would not be "safe" for me, and just wants me to slowly challenge myself to build up to something healthier. Diane Campbell has given me a chance that others did not. Sami G came to my rescue when I was at my wits end both emotionally and physically. I was sick with…read moreno light at the end of the tunnel. It had been 6 months of agony and meetings with a nurse practitioner, two ER doctors and finally an obgyn before I was diagnosed correctly with endometriosis. The diagnosis however, did not help me find a cure, it only added more questions. I took to searching the internet, talking to specialists and browsing medical journals only to find out that most "cures" required heavy doses of hormones and surgery. These "cures" also ended with most women having a hysterectomy a few years after diagnosis depending on severity. While surgery to remove endometriomas was a must for me, I was weighing my options against taking the hormones (much to the dismay of my western medicine physicians). It was then that Sami G saved me- one week before surgery and the decision to send my 33 year old body into menopause. Her knowledge in the areas of health, specifically nutrition, was my life saver. She more than encouraged me to listen to my body and stay strong in my decision to take a natural path. Her history with women and hormones gave me the hope I needed to stay on course. Sami G spent time going over the nutritional changes I needed to make in order to heal optimally from the surgery and to help cure my disease. We went over recipes for bone broths and juicing, and we talked about meditation and exercise. She really gave me a PLAN, something I was seeking for so long! She checked in on me after surgery and continues to be a great guiding light. I will be forever grateful for her service and will keep her at the top of my list for 'go to professionals' when it comes to anything related to my health. THANK YOU SAMI G!!!

I have requested numerous times access to my lab results (weeks ago) and been completely ignored. This is incredibly unprofessional and, I believe, warrants a lowering of my rating. Further, I received correspondence requesting that I remove this review for a partial refund. I declined this offer. I have checked my spam folder as well as my inbox. None of my lab results have been sent as requested not do I see any response at all to my multiple inquiries, the last of which was March 14th. I have attached the confirmation from the practice that shows the email was received. I have also attached the email from April in question that merely stated my results will be in the portal (Which my access to has been revoked.)

I've been going here…read morefor about a month and I absolutely love the atmosphere, the staff, the vitamins, and all the knowledge! I feel so informed about my body and how it functions. Like the name states they are a weight loss clinic/ office. When you first make an appointment with them they do blood work and a complete evaluation of your body, eating habits, sleeping habits, stress, exercise, and life style. From there they offer specialized weight loss programs related to your goal and life style. I only have about 35lbs to lose and have chosen a more natural route but they do offer prescription appetite suppressants. They explain EVERYTHING thoroughly so you walk away knowing what you are taking and how if affects your body. I love knowing the difference between all the veggies and how they help to break down proteins. Their whole goal is to get you off any medications and onto all natural supplements.. i.e. if you are on high blood pressure what can you feed your body to help. Same with diabetes and other health issues. For the first couple months, you have to check in weekly to check your progress and adjust the supplements as needed. They offer B12 shots for $6 and sell all the vitamins they give you at a reasonable rate. Your first visit is $125 because it includes lab work and so far I have spent about $20 a week in vitamin adjustments and B12 shots. Next month should only be $50-$70 for the monthly supply. If you get the prescription appetite suppressant you may be paying more. I have lost 10lbs in 1 month without drastically changing my lifestyle! Office is super clean and sterilized. The staff is extremely professional and kind. They definitely make you feel like they care and are going through this with you. The wait times are ridiculously fast! Today I waited a whole 2 minutes. Never more than 5 minutes AND they are open during lunch time!

Portion control and balanced meals keeps me satisfied so, I no longer snack on high caloric intake. I've learned that my sugar cravings are directly correlated with my hunger and need for a meal instead of a sugary snack. Increased proteins keeps me satisfied. Coupled with increased vegetables, I eat more seeds and fruits consist of berries, which doesn't cause my glucose level to spike. My AIC decreased from 7.4 to 5.4. Although I'm no longer using the diabetic medication, with regular exercise and better eating, I'm maintaining the decreased weight goals. I recommend seeing a dietician on a healthy lifestyle journey. The difference between dieting--regaining weight and maintaining is simply the LIFESTYLE changes, which means permanent change.
