On Saturday, August 15th, my family and I went bowling at Oak Hills. We've been going there consistently for the past four weeks. Two weeks ago, we went on Friday and Saturday night, two days in a row. We love the place; it's been amazing. The facility is a little outdated, lacking a game room, but overall, it's fun. They currently have a summer program: $10 per person, $3 for shoes, and it's from open to close--one flat price. So, for $13, you can bowl all day and night. My family loves bowling, and we've really gotten into it lately. My wife and I even bought our own balls, and we've been having a blast. This past Saturday night, August 15th, we arrived around 7:30 or 8 o'clock. I had one of my best games, scoring 178. It's not a huge score, but it was a really good game for me. Around 11:40p.m, I went to the bar to settle my tab since they close at midnight. I've been doing this for the past four weeks. When I went to settle my bill, the bartender, named "Maureeca," told me, "Oh, I already closed your tab. They called last call already," even though it was only 11:40 p.m. I was confused because there's a sign that says a 25% gratuity will be added to your tab at the close of business if it isn't settled beforehand. So, why was my tab closed? I was confused, so I went back to our table and told my wife. She saw I was a little upset, but we continued to bowl. We finished our last game around 11:45 or 11:50. Then, my wife went up and spoke to the lady. I can't tell you exactly what happened, but I can say she called my wife a bitch and threw $20 at her. My wife already left a review the same night, right under this current review, and will describe exactly what was said, verbatim. That woman was drunk as hell, started yelling, claiming we were harassing her--all because we were trying to find out why she was unprofessional and disrespectful. Maureeca, the bartender, threw $20 at my wife like she was a stripper from "Sugars," which was highly unprofessional. Because of this, my family had to deal with unnecessary, provocative drama. By the way, my daughter was hyperventilating and crying, saying she was scared--this all happened because the bartender was drunk. There has to be some accountability and professionalism. You're in the service industry. How can you treat someone like this when all we did was ask why Maureeca, the bartender, closed our tab before the end of business? Does that make sense? We are very unhappy. The problem is, my family loves going there, so now I'm caught between a rock and a hard place about whether we should keep going--all because one drunk, unprofessional bartender called my wife a bitch and threw $20 at her. If we hadn't had this experience, I would give this place a 5 out of 5. I'm not even lying. I don't understand entitlement--how someone can treat others however they want, even when I am spending money there. I'm not saying customers are always right, because they're not, but this is ridiculous. I hope the ownership and management see this and take action. read more

My friends and I went for cosmic bowling on a Saturday evening and we had an amazing time. They have a summer deal that gave unlimited bowling for $10, which we thought was an amazing deal considering we bowled for 3 hours. Every staff member we came across were nice and it made for a better experience. They have a bar that has reasonably priced drinks. The food from the cafe area was good. My friend said the wings were amazing. The popcorn was fresh and the brownie was delicious. The vibe with the lights and music made it such a fun night. Great bowling alley! It's no frills, not insanely expensive, but with good lanes. Think weekly bowling league, not Bowlero or the Bowl & Barrel at the Rim, which is super fancy and a nice environment but their pins are literally held up by strings and it's not real bowling. We've gone on a Sunday afternoon, it was $15 per hour per lane, and not too crowded. $2 shoe rentals. They have a little cafe with typical bowling alley food- pizza, fried foods, popcorn and have a bar too. Great, friendly service from their staff and when one of our lanes had a dysfunction with the bumpers, they addressed it quickly. Otherwise, no problems with the lane. read more

Which can take 40min to an hour. Also the food is pricey and rather bland. The ambiance was nice because most of these bowling alleys are modern now and don't have the same charm. This is a nice fun place to bowl! The lanes are nice and kept. Had an easy time with ball return and pin set up. They seem to have minimal error with returns of balls and pins. The service was very kind. It seemed that if they had an issue it was resolved relatively quickly. The place was pretty clean and well kept. They have a nice ambiance inside. It's also very nice because they have a bar and a karaoke space. As well as slot machines. Only complaint is it would've been nice to eat here but all the food is pretty pricey! 2nd time we've done a party for my girls here. The 1st time was awesome & had no issues. The 2nd was a somewhat hectic, for whatever reason they couldn't get the reservation date & times correct. So we showed up on the date reserved, they had bumped us because a league decided to show up at the last minute unannounced. Wow, my wife & I strategically approached the issue & they managed to resolve the issue & they made up for it at the end of the night. We probably spent over $200 in food there, the pizzas were great & hot, the kids loved them. We got wings & pitchers of soda with discounted refills. The food bar didn't disappoint they were ready & happy to help us. The front counter needs to work on their communication skills. But, we had so much fun we'd go back again! read more

Came in a group of 4 and bowled for two hours. It was around 80 and came with shoes for up to five people. Split it's not a bad deal. It's a smaller bowling alley but mostly bc there is no arcade. There are about 20 lanes a snack bar and bar. This is our go to Sunday bowling alley...they have a solid deal in the mornings which lets us bowl for an hour with shoe rentals for $20 so we love it. The alley is well maintained with the typical hiccups and the service at the concession area is always top notch. The food isn't great but is pretty good and what you'd expect from a bowling alley. Must must call ahead to order off the "catering" menu, no matter what any employee tells you. They worked it out for us, but there was a miscommunication somewhere. Looking for a new place for our bowling team to call home we decided to try the Lanes at Oak Hills. Going in for the first time I noticed the place was clean and recently updated and had an overall nice appearance. On the inside there is a small restaurant and a separate bar area where you can get food and drinks for yourself or the group. There is also a bowling pro shop where you can buy any gear that you need whether you're a beginner or a league bowler. All the Lanes seem to be in good condition and well maintained. There is also a section of the bowling alley you can reserve for private parties. It's very nice and has its own bar area so I may have to book a party there sometime soon. Overall, I like Oak Hills except for the odd table/chair configurations and the lack of waitresses to serve you food or drinks. other than that, I look forward to spending the rest of the season here and getting to know the league/staff better. read more

I don't know what is wrong with everyone giving this place one and three star reviews... it's GREAT! I mean you are coming to a bowling alley for crying out loud... it's not supposed to be the ritz. Are you coming for a good time bowling and can hope for concession stand food. Thankfully their food exceeds that of a normal concession stand (the shoe string fries were awesome) AND they have a bar. Perfect. They also have an entirely separate private room with a few lanes for parties- awesome! The computers and tv screens and keyboard setup for starting a game is easy to use and in great condition - they even look new! I highly recommend this bowling alley! It's perfect for date night or a small get together. I have visited this location several times and am never disappointed. Keep in mind this place is smaller and a OG bowling alley. In other words, no huge flat screens or anything fancy. It's simply a good old fashion bowling alley. The times I've gone I have always seen the same staff. They are friendly and welcoming and truly care about your experience there. The prices are very low compared to bandera bowl. The shoe rentals as well. They also sometimes have deals on Groupon. They have a website where you can sign up for email alerts on discounts. This place is always clean and there are always open lanes. They do have a bar which I haven't yet ordered from but it's always busy. The concession stand is pretty good. The bowling alley is a dump. The bumpers on our lane were all bent; the balls got stuck spinning waiting for the ball return after nearly every single turn; and our monitor had lines running through it so you couldn't even read the scores. They have clearly done nothing to keep up with other bowling alleys in the city. Cost of games and shoes is right up there with the others though! We went to this location because of the Kids Bowl Free summer program. Kids get 2 free games per day in the summer, shoe rental not included, but they are supposed to be discounted from $3.50 down to $2.75/pair. For a nominal fee, I upgraded to add 2 adults to make it a family pass. Summer is basically over, but we finally went for the first (and last) time last week. The staff member at the front desk was rude, unknowledgeable, and incompetent. Rude and unknowledgeable because on the website is says 99 cent games after 9 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. I asked about it because we arrived after 7 PM on a Tuesday and planned to maybe stay later if the kids were having fun and if the additional games would be 99 cents. He argued with me about it - saying that I was wrong and that I must have looked at the wrong information or website. He said Tuesdays are ladies' night and they always have been. I don't appreciate the implication that I'm some sort of illiterate idiot. We exchanged condescending remarks about it (I said I'd seen the info on their site 5 minutes before walking in the door) and then I just got on their website because the internet was literally there in my hand! I showed it to him (photo is attached); confirmed with him that it was their website. It says: NEW! 99 games on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 9 PM - Close. He still made no apologies or any indication that he would honor the rate listed on the website. Apparently, it's so new that the owner hasn't even told his employees about it. Now to his incompetence - it shows on my app that the discounted rate for shoes through the program is $2.75 (photo is attached). $2.75 x 4 pairs + tax = $11.90. He charged over $15. Unfortunately, I wasn't the one paying, so I didn't notice that we'd been charged the regular rate of $3.50/pair + tax. So, steer clear of this dump, where the employee attitudes match the equipment. Stick to Bowlero or University and look for the bargain days - bowling is kind of a ripoff no matter what. Lol! read more

This place a has a bar and snack bar where you can order pizza, popcorn, etc.. they have plastics cups and water on the side for anyone. The girl that took the reservation was friendly & informative. The guy that was working the counter was admittedly salty but everyone has bad days. Dropped in here today and this place is great. 32 Lane synthetic house, place was popping with families and leaguers alike. I shot 7 games and averaged 195 which is right on the mark with my league house. Oil / Shot was great and beer was cold. Overall would recommend to anyone. read more

This bowling center had a major renovation done about a year ago. It seemed like it took forever but the end result is fabulous . The facility added more restrooms, a new snack bar area, new fullbar, large game room and private adult party room with full bar service, tvs and private lanes. The kids absolutely love this place. I'm here weekly with them. They get to bowl, snack and play games for about $10. A deal they have negotiated with northside isd. The arcade area is up to date with the latest games and prizes to win. Everything is automated from the ticket counter to prize center. The staff are pretty good about watching the kids and attending to everyone's needs. The center offers several bowling leagues and fun nights. Free bowling for the kids in the summer too. The snack bar has all your usual fun foods- grilled cheese, hotdogs, etc. The private room(oak room)- is exclusive to adults only which is pretty awesome. I definitely want to book a party in the future and try some adult concoctions. Overall, if your looking for a fun and family friendly activity this place is great. read more

This place gives "Sunday Funday" a whole new meaning. It's a terrible place to take your children. I would assume anytime because we went on a Sunday at 6 pm-9 pm and it was awful. First off, No employees smile at you or make you feel like your business is wanted by their short, unenthusiastic responses to your questions such as "Do you offer military discount?". When we started bowling a group next to us had the nerve to tell my kids (9&11) to "stay back because they could get hurt" even though they were already behind the walkway where the bowling balls are released. I work with children all the time. I know safety standards. They wanted us to wait every time it was our turn on our own line just so they could "focus" on their roll. My paid 2 hour time clock doesn't pause for them to focus on their game. We ordered pizza and pitchers of soda for the kids and when my daughter wanted to help Mom a woman quickly approached me and corrected our team work making my kid feel useless instead of assisting which by the way she wasn't even on the clock-well at least I hope not. She minutes later was see with a group of guys vaping in the walkway right by the restaurant area. My kids had to walk by them because our lane was at the other end of the building and no alternative routes. Then this lady was drinking a beer while bowling and then she'd go behind the cash register and be on her phone, literally after drinking a Dos X still bottled. Our bowling ball got stuck once and when I went up to get help they didn't look or talk to me just walked to the lane and got the ball. They didn't even let me finish my sentence before walking away from me. The game room is so dirty and needs maintenance. I ordered a cocktail to help me take the edge off, nothing drastic. It was a shot portion with very little alcohol. If any. Disappointed with that. Music Soundtrack again, not kid friendly. I'm typically a pretty humble person so the old equipment and broken games don't bother me much if people make us feel wanted with great customer service. Never again. We wanted a change of pace for our Saturday night and going to the bars so we chose bowling instead. We assessed prices at various locations before choosing Oak Hills Lanes. They had a deal for 2 hours you pay only $59.95 for up to 6 people including shoes. Since there was only 3 of us, it was pretty reasonable at $20 a person. $10 a person is a great price if there were six of us. It was cosmic bowling so we were dreading a ton of aggravating teenagers. We lucked out because it was mostly adults. The bar had incredibly cheap drinks. My vodka drink only cost $3.75. A pitcher of Blue Moon was about $13. In the two hours we were there, the three of us played 4.5 games and had a great time with no issues. Kept going back and forth about my Groupon that I couldn't use it because it had to be used after a certain hour (which wasn't true). I read the reviews in about service and blah blah blah and well bowling alleys are like that you're not going to get the best quality people behind the counter.
