My golf stay cation, playing the four corners of the state, concluded today in Norwalk at Oak Hills Park. The course is in great shape and the foliage was still beautiful. Unfortunately for me, I scheduled my vacation the week they aerated the greens, so they were still sandy. Fortunately for me, my partner and I agreed that ALL second putts were good! The staff was friendly and helpful. It was my honor to have been paired with Frank , who said he has played Oak Hills Park 300 times a year since he retired 20 years ago! Not only is he knowledgeable about the course and it's recent history, he is just a super nice man. Golf is a social sport, meant to share with friends. Frank and I shared some great conversation and he is living proof that you don't have to hit the ball a long way as long as you can consistently hit it down the middle! I am inspired! I hope to return to Oak Hills, perhaps this next Spring! read more

Food was not all that Fantastic to be Honest with you while the Service was good the Burger I didn't like all that much the Belly Appetizer was not that bad you need to work on your Menu though you need to Update the one that you have Posted Online it is very outdated there are Items on that menu that you dont even have anymore such as the Mushroom Ravioli very misleading and the Steak that was on the Online menu was not in the In person Menu I dont think I will be coming back to this place sorry read more

Really enjoyable place to play for all golfers. In our group (July 2019), we had two beginners, a lower handicap as well as myself (higher handicap) and we all had our own challenges & victories during the round. Aside from the well kept grounds, there's a lot of variety in the hole designs so you don't feel like you're playing the same one over & over. The first few holes are hidden away and mix up left or right dog legs in the woods. Later on you'll see more typical municipal layouts (parallel holes) but with more open, forgiving fairways. Keep your tee shots controlled early on and let loose as you hit the mid/later. Water does show up here & there. Mid-round there are 3 (three!) opportunities to grab a beverage and something to eat, which is so rare it's worth a star on its own. End of the round facilities look ample enough to handle a crew who needs food & drinks at either the indoor or outdoor seating areas. Staff was also super nice. Very walkable, too. This place is not friendly AT ALL! We are visiting from Orange County, southern CA. Found this place close to our lodging. We would have gone to a better course in Stamford but we are pressed for time and my son wanted to practice. I checked in my teenager and the old geezer who for some reason was very rude at the check in by first hole said I cant follow or be a spectator for my son unless I paid. I said okay. He radioed to the pro shop to check. The guy said I dont have to pay if I dont have clubs or not playing. I was initially going to get a cart and drive him bec he doesn't have his license yet but my son wanted to walk so he said I could walk with him get my exercise/steps in. This is never a big deal in other golf courses we've been to in other States or even in the UK. He has never played on this course. If something happens to him, it will be good for a parent to be close by. If they told me from the get go, no spectators, I would have understand but to treat me rudely by the first tee like Im a major inconvenience or like Im being banned from the course for just following my son?! Uncalled for! Your old fart checker there needs to be replaced by someone who knows customer service. No fucking etiquette whatsoever. White trashy. I thought this is Connecticut with classy people? It is a good thing we are just visiting this crappy course anyway and looking online my son said this is comparable to a crappy course in CA, he just need to get his practice in. So not recommended. I really enjoy coming to this course. It's very clean and well kept. Whoever the groundskeeper is really deserves a raise during the peak season because they keep this course looking amazing. Came to play golf on a nice relaxing Sunday. Went up to check in and cashier told me you had to be 18 to use a golf cart even when you have your license at 17 and have had your license for a year. This rule is ridiculous embarrassing and humiliating for this golf course. Makes zero sense as if they let anyone drive a golf cart they would make way more money which it looks like they need. I am perfectly capable of driving a golf cart and have been doing it for years. Oak hills should be ashamed of themselves because this is embarrassing. read more

The staff at this public golf course could not be nicer. They are so helpful and generous with their time if you need assistance or left an item in your cart. It is obvious that the employees enjoy working there and are usually in a great mood. The course is well-maintained and not too challenging for a beginner player like myself. The greens are fairly lush and many of the holes with water are quite bucolic. The club is very strict about finishing your golf round in time since they don't want other golfers to wait unnecessarily long. The one downside is that many of the golf cart paths need repaving so the ride is quite bumpy in places. Overall, a very nice public course for golfers and aspiring golfers to enjoy. It is too bad they don't offer a driving range. read more

Very nice golf course, well-maintained, very nice people work there in pro shop, rangers. There is Italian restaurant on the property, called Quattro Pazzi, which is a good place to go after the round. Usually on Mondays they have tournaments and on the weekend regular 4 hours round might became 5 or even 6, depends on the crowd. read more

If you are not a Norwalk resident don't play this course! We played on a Friday and were charged "weekend rates" which unbelievably were $60 each plus $19 (per person) for a cart. $79 to play a former cow pasture and public course!!! Plus, the course is so slow don't expect to finish until well after five hours. The cart system itself is completely absurd. You must pass an orange marker on each hole, otherwise you must stay on the paths. The reality is that the cart slows consistently to a crawl after the marker, often at awkward times and for no apparent reason. Trying to drive the cart on the course with its' constant starts and stops makes the cart almost worthless. When you are in the rough six feet from a small stream it slows to crawl and sends a signal on the GPS to watch our for alligators. We spent more time trying to crawl the cart across fairways and rough then we did driving it just to get to the ball. This course is completely overpriced and totally mismanaged. There is no restaurant due to this course being an ongoing political ping pong ball and a place where Norwalk politics consistently shows it's worst side. read more

Not worth your time to deal with these incompetent people and they will never get my money again. First off, I called and asked for a tee time for 9 holes around noon. After I drove all the way to the course and was ready for my round, they then decided to inform me that they do not have 9 hole rates until after 4 o'clock... that is something that they should have informed me of when they took my reservation on the phone. Second, I wanted to have my girlfriend ride along with me in the cart - she doesn't golf, but wanted to spend the afternoon outside with me enjoying the nice fall weather. The guys in the pro-shop made such a big deal about it and only saying that "they have their reasons" as an explanation. I just left and we went to another course. read more

The bad: Pro shop employees... spent 10 mins seemingly trying to charge the right rates for a gentleman in front of me, since apparently the rates posted on their home website are different than the rates on the booking app they use. Then begrudgingly one of the guys finally takes my buddy and I to pay. The starter/course staff.... the starter is a rather old gentlemen, couldn't hear us over the weed whacking going on right next to the cart path. We were right on time, yet he acted like we were ten mins late. After teeing off we were stopped by one of the course rangers, who seemed nice enough, to inform us of the no cart rules on certain holes. The starter proceeded to walking back out and yelling at us to get going even though there was no one behind us ready to tee off. Pace of play: We had three in our group, granted we are not professionals by any stretch of the imagination, yet everyone seemed to be in a rush. From the starter to the course rangers. Even though there is nowhere to go being that the average age of golfer out there had to be late 60s early 70s, every person we came in contact with seemed to be agitated. If we didn't get stuck behind a foursome that had two kids who couldn't get off the tee box and a foursome in front of them that had older gentlemen who could barely move, we would've been done in under 4 hours. Practice area: or lack thereof.... chipping and putting green hidden right before the first tee box, no driving range. It's a wonder people are playing slow when they have to waste shots on the course getting warmed up. The good: The greens were in good shape The weather was nice Rates for a round weren't too bad. All in all you can put lipstick on a pig but it's still a pig. Unless management does a serious overhaul of the staff, it's not worth your time or money. read more

The course was decent and the greens were very nice. The starter was a cranky old man. It was the first time I played the course. I went up to the starter to tell him my tee time and he barely looked at me and said "that's nice". He let me stand there for twenty minutes never telling me I had to pay inside. When my friend came he had to tell me to pay in the clubhouse. When I came back the starter was nasty and told me It was two minutes before my tee time.If the guy doesn't want to work he should quit. Pace of play can be terrible and staff does nothing. We reported a group with 2 open holes in front of them. They were teaching a player who was hitting multiple balls. Nothing was done. No ranger came out. We had to skip a hole. They don't seem to care. read more

Recently had my in-laws' 50 anniversary party here. Staff was VERY attentive and accommodating. Food was buffet style w/ passed hors d'oeuvres prior to the buffet. Food was wonderful. Prior to the event, staff addressed all our concerns and questions very promptly. Would recommend this to anyone planning a large party, wedding, office event. Nice venue!! read more

It was our first time playing here and were feeling good about this course....at first - then it seemed liked we walked into the movie "Get Out". Firstly, I made a tee time for *offpeak rates* which when I saw the course website was after 12 noon. When I arrived and went to pay the offpeak* time was changed to after 1pm. They would not honor the offpeak greens fees. Other golfers (except for the starter who didn't seem to talk) were very helpful with tips - which seemed nice at first - but the ulterior motive evidently was to keep up the pace of play. However - if you weren't in the narrow fairways and made the rough - you were screwed. The rough was so thick and deep AND if you were lucky to find your ball in the rough (even just slightly off the fairway) you could not hit out of it. Needless to say course conditions caused a SLIGHT slow down. At the 15th hole a previously nice golfer (I should have realized at the first tee when he joked they would hit up on us if we were slow) had an edge to him and asked us to pick up the pace - the rest of his 4some gave us the evil eye - even though there was a 2some ahead of us.He wasn't even a ranger. We still finished in under 4 hours - I don't see how anyone could have played faster. On to the carts- in this instance, technology has actually caused a potential hazardous situation whereby the carts would not move if in a "restricted area". I would hate to get stuck in a thunderstorm when my cart wont move. It's understood that cart path only signs should be obeyed. But there were holes where GPS or physical signs were not present. About 1/2 the holes were cart path only. Anyway its obvious the course has serious drainage issues. One positive note the greens were in excellent shape as were the fairways when they were dry. Suggestion ditch the local "golf police" - maintain the rough properly. Aside from that there are better courses nearby where you wont be hounded by old curmudgeons playing speed golf. Great course, horrible customer service. I called up to make a 9 hole reservation for a 7:30 AM tee time and the woman on the phone took the reservation no problem. I get to the golf course and get charged for a full 18. When I realized the mistake I questioned why I'm being charged for a full 18 when I made a 9 reservation on the phone and they told me they only do 9 in the first hour. Fine. But when I asked why the woman taking my reservation on the phone didn't tell me that upfront, they said "It's on the website". No where on their front pages or sub pages does it say 9 holes only in the first hour. In addition to that, I booked over the phone, so either they're not training the staff, or they're just really greedy. If the woman had been upfront about not being able to do 9, I would've appreciated the honesty and looked to book a different course or a different time at Oak Hills. As a long time Norwalk resident, I'm now regretting buying a membership earlier at the start of the season. Shame on me for not searching through every page of their website to find that 9 holes in the first hour only, but shame on Oak Hills for not being honest, and not doing anything about it. read more

I'd give Oak Hills Golf Course a thumbs up. I'm your average weekend golfer. If I break 100, it's a great day. I find it to be a very challenging course with a good mix of both challenging and forgiving holes. I used to like the restaurant, Quattro Pazzi, that overlooks the two practice putting greens but notice that the drink prices have gone up considerably. Had two rounds of Bloody Marys once, which were served in small glasses. With tax and tip, came to nearly $50. read more
