Worst people to deal with. I was charged for Xray's that the dentist took. Before appointment I told the office girls if insurance does not cover them, I do not want them. No sir you are covered. A month later I get a bill for x-rays. The office manger told me insurance kicked it back because it was to soon. They had my history and still did it anyway. Now I am sent to collections. Call 7 times. They business will not let me contact the owner or give me their name. Supper shady be aware!!!! read more

Terrible place to get your teeth done. I came in for a toothache. Apparently I had multiple cavities but yet took 45 mins to fill. To think about it I though that was wayyy too fast to fill them and make sure it was correct. Discussed my pain from my toothache said that it was just a cleaning I needed. After numbing wore off was still in pain. I paid what they said I would have to pay in person. Got a call saying I needed to pay 100+ more dollars due to insurance adjustments. Okay cool the said Dentist in house said my card was on file and charged my debit. I was told from him that I didn't need to pay any more. Then after I set another emergency apt to get a appointment in for still having pain I get another call the next day saying from Daisy that I needed to pay more from adjustments. I told Daisy to take out my card on file because I'm going to another file. She responds back I don't have a card on file for you I don't know how he authorized the payment before. What? Where is my card file stored and how was it processed before? Who has access to my card? And to remember I used the card in tap method and never saved my card to them. How did they actually get my card on file? This is 3 times I paid them for my 10+ cavities I had. Pay attention to the other reviews they are terrible and just want your money. Edited after talking to owner (Chris): We clarified protocol, which I understand and he pointed out the willingness to consider case by case situations. I made the mistake of bringing my youngest, which is why I also understood why I couldn't go back, but we went right after school. This was a mistake I'm willing to fix myself. My son is older so I was not given follow up advice on whether he should eat, take pain meds, etc... Chris stated he would remind staff to follow up with parent. I also do not know if he saw the same dentist as I met last time who was a little too short with him and I. Some good I wanted to cover more - front desk staff came out for children often to offer coloring pages and talked with them about their favorites (my youngest was in heaven) I've been to A LOT of Medicaid offices and as I stated, they are cringy, so I totally appreciate the office being so clean and welcoming in most ways. I'm also very happy to have had the opportunity to work through this issue with Chris, who clearly cares about his patients. We'll be back. Original review: The front desk staff is amazing. The dentist is meh. My biggest complaint is how they act like parents going back with the kids is the devil walking through the door. In fact, while sitting in the waiting room, I heard a parent try to see their child and were told only one parent in the room at a time. As a foster/adoptive parent I have a lot of kiddos with a lot of trauma and every one I've brought here I've had to beg the nurse for me to be with them. I came here a while ago, the reviews for this place were amazing. My usual dentist was booked for the day and I shopped around to see was open that day since I had a whole day off. I filled out their thing online on their site about wanting to get my wisdom tooth pulled and some other work. I got a call 30 minutes later and told them what I wanted done and explained my situation. They had an opening available since there was a recent cancellation. I came right in and filled out some paperwork. Waited about 45 minutes and got taken care of. They cleaned my teeth first which is usually normal and then the dentist came in and told me about my teeth and tell me they're not perfect.(I've known about that all my life.) The dentist tells me they are not going to remove my wisdom teeth and refers me to someone else and I was upset because I mentioned this to the staff before I booked and when I called about wanting my wisdom tooth . I went over my bill and they charged me a new client special and never charged me for the x-rays which was stated when I read the paperwork so I was less upset about that. Very unprofessional dental office. So recently I had an insurance change due to a new job and needed to find a dentist in my network, so I made a new patient consultation appointment with Dr. Handa. But before my appointment date I received voicemails to confirm--but they were for the wrong times. So I had to call back in order to confirm the accurate time but no one answered so I left a message. Needless to say I didn't receive a call back so I spent a few days playing phone tag. Then the day of my appointment finally arrives, and I'm given a bunch of forms to fill out which is typically standard, until you realize some of them basically make you sign your life away and include a lot of miscellaneous fees--some of them quite ridiculous. This should've been a red flag since it's clear this office wants to get money wherever and however it can from the patient...and I wasn't even a patient yet lol. Then I waited over a half an hour to get seen and when I finally got into the room I was informed by the staff that Dr. Handa can't take any more patients because she's leaving the practice. Umm, I'm sorry what? Why wasn't I told this weeks ago when I booked the appointment or I don't know how about maybe when I arrived? That would have been helpful. Why did I waste my time sitting there and filling out forms for nothing. They could tell I was annoyed and tried to pawn me off on another dentist whom I've never heard of but that wasn't going to work for me. I asked the receptionist (I think her name was Rachel) about the clear disorganization and was met with flippant disregard which I found disrespectful but yet seemed to sum up the whole visit. Maybe she doesn't like her job or doesn't have much regard for patients. Who knows. But if that's the case she should get into another profession because you have to have better customer service skills. Sorry but you're a professional dental office and if this is how you're going to operate you can forget it. Patients deserve better and this whole experience was extremely unacceptable. After a few visits to other dentists that didn't go that well, I think I have finally found a good one. I knew I needed some work and the dentist went through everything with me and put me at ease. Waited 2months to get a dentist that was for my 6yr old. Had referral from my dentist that this is a pediatric dentist, I called & told them all he needed when I made appointment. Get there waited 2hrs & then they tell me we will do xrays & see what dentist says? Ok, he comes in and says yeah we see kids but pediatric isn't are specialty. WHAT? They give me a referral for UIC college of dentistry? I would've went there in the 1st place if you didn't lie on first call and say you can do it. I had to take off work, my son missed school & swim because of this nonsense! I would never refer anyone there- I rather pull my own tooth out. Everyone working was a crab too! read more

If I could leave a negative review I would. Please don't make the mistake of going here as my husband did. It is the most unprofessional place , I dont even know how they are still in business. The ladies in the front are so great but the Dentist along with the owner are nothing short of horrible. My husband had a tooth pulled and we ended up going else where for the implant because how poor of an experience we were having. After months and months of healing it was time to start the implant, after the initial mouth scan, his new Dentist who we love, let us know who ever removed this tooth left bone fragments in his jaw. We must start the process all over again. Isn't the point of following up after a tooth extraction to make sure everything looks good and you got the entire tooth?! I am baffled . Don't take your kids here. This place is so unprofessional! They wanted to take my 3 year old to the back without me saying due to COVID precautions. Okay whatever I told them I didn't feel comfortable so they let me back. The dentist said my kid had cavities all over and no one could tell me what to do about them. I receive a call hours after leaving saying I need to pay for the assessment that was done. I asked why wasn't I charged while I was there and they said they didn't know. They don't know anything. This is the best dentist office I've ever been too, I emailed them last night and today they made time for me. I felt so comfortable the minute I walked in the door, The receptionist is so nice ( sorry I didn't get her name) Then I was taken back by Olivia, she is such a sweetheart, she made me everything so easy, Dr Theresa came in and she explained everything to me in detail, she made me feel confident with my future treatments and believe it or not, I cannot wait. Liz came in and did the financials with me and I could not believe how affordable this is, I really wish I would of found them earlier, but I found them now and im gonna tell everyone !! Out here visiting from out of state and you could imagine my dismay when my crown falls out!! (No more Now and Laters for me!!) I had no idea what to do, but I was referred to Dr. Theresa and she was awesome! I was able to get in quickly and she took care of me. I was in and out of the chair in probably 15 min! This is the best dental experience that I have ever had! I broke a filling and they were able to get it fixed for me quickly. The front staff was really nice and accommodating. Took my 5 year old here for an emergency extraction the manager was nice so was one of the dental assistant who helped me, but one if the ladies "Stephanie " who works there busted in the room while the Dr. was talking to me and my son and stated are we going to be doing this all day because my son was afraid ! Worse service ever. I had to threaten to report them for them to see my son because I personally owe the dentist for my procedure. My son has been to this dentist and has insurance and is covered. When I threaten to file a complaint they agreed to see my son. When we got there one person stated they were going to fill my sons broken tooth. Then doctor came in and stated she didn't feel comfortable and referred us to a dentist outside of network. They only took him to cover them but didn't service him because of my balance. I understand the whole situation with Covid and everything, but as a mother, I will NEVER be okay with NOT accompanying my 8 year old child who IS A MINOR go into any room alone without me, her mother. On my child's last visit there, we left because we were told that social distance was needed and only my daughter could go back there and not me. I did not allow that to happen because even though those employees carry a professional title DOES NOT mean that they should be automatically trusted. Regardless they are still strangers to both my child and myself. I do not know them enough to trust my child alone with them in a closed room where I have no idea what is going on. You can accuse me of trust issues and judge or criticize me all you want, but these are my rules as parent and mother. Simple as that. MY CHILD GOES NO WHERE WITHOUT MY EYES BEING PRESENT! The fact that the women/employees at this facility are women and mothers themselves and judged me harshly for being a good parent and protecting my child is what blows me. Because you guys are asking for the public to take Covid into consideration because you guys are supposedly "doing the best you can," but yet lacked total and complete CONSIDERATION for me as a parent. Oak Lawn Smiles took it upon themselves to retaliate by discharging my child without my consent or anything. They didn't even give me a courtesy call to inform me that my child was no longer as patient of theirs any longer until I called today to set up an appointment now that we are all vaccinated and things have gotten better. I called today and was told that they supposedly gave me a referral to go to UIC. THAT IS A COMPLETR LIE!!!!!!!!! So do you see how even though someone carries a professional title does not mean that they automatically know the basics to being a RESPECTFUL HUMAN BEING. They quickly check in with one another while placing the patient on hold so they can all be on the same page and not get caught up in their own mess of lies and cover ups.
