Angel is my husband go-to guy for his monthly haircut and he is also really good with our son so we will always look for him. One thing I loved the most is how careful and precise she was, taking her time for even the smaller details just to make sure I got what I wanted. We didn't speak much but when we did, she was cool and very laid back while still holding herself friendly. And I did get what I wanted - a great mid fade with a scissor cut on top, and an amazing beard trim up and blend. It was my first time here and I'll DEFINITELY be back. I've got crystal's number so I'll be hitting her up soon. She made a guy like me look half decent. Other than that, the shop is modern and clean including the restroom. Last week my son came over for dinner and he told me about Barkers Barbershop in Pilsen. I immediately went online to fetch an appointment. He told me to go to Adrian (the boss). So I did. I explained to Adrian my dilemma and his quick response was "I got this". And oh man did he ever. He cut and snipped and shaped and cleaned up my shaggy mess. It came out perfect. I booked an appointment for Saturday at 8AM. The barber called/messaged saying they had woken up…read morelate and asked if I could adjust to 8:30. I could. The barber showed up at 8:30 without keys to the shop, so I waited another 45 minutes because "a coworker should be here soon to unlock the business." I ended up not getting a haircut that day because I could not continue to wait. The barber reached out to offer a free cut as an apology. I booked online for 10:00AM the following Monday and also texted the barber to confirm. Turns out - the barber did not have any openings at 10:00AM Monday because they were off. (Why was that time available on the app then?) The barber asked me to adjust to 10:30 which I did. Unfortunately the barber got into an accident, to which I assumed we'd cancel again, but also said "on my way" - so I texted back asking if 10:30 was still correct. I did not hear back until 10:22 that they were still 30 minutes away. I could not continue waiting because I had to go to work. Life throws surprises and I understand, but at this point the business does not have any credibility when it comes to following through on expectations. If I book again, I now anticipate no shows, cancellations, and availability that does not match what is shown on the app. I would like to support neighborhood businesses but will not be spending my money, time, or energy supporting this one.
