We were picking up some little candies for treat bags and they also sell the treat bags/ties for a great deal. There is so much to choose from and really great deals. The customer service is top-notch, as well.

I'm also a candy editor for my job, so this was like being a kid in a candy shop, no pun intended. I was specifically looking for Fruit Stripe gum, since the company decided to discontinue it. They unfortunately did not have it but they had a plethora of other pretty cool candies and chocolates. I ended up buying a few peanut butter cups that I had never seen before, a Hot Tamales candy cane for my fiance, some coconut strip things for myself, and a few other goodies. If money was no object, I also would have bought the Ted Lasso branded candies and ALL of the Golden Girls stuff, as that's one of my favorite TV shows. They had a nice selection of freeze-dried candy as well, which is a new trend, but they were a little expensive, at $7.99 per bag. The saleslady was very friendly here as well and asked if I had any questions or needed help with anything, when I was in the store. I wish I had visited here earlier in my Clawson residency, but I will definitely be back.

I enjoy finding hidden gems on Yelp. An excellent small business like Mrs. Mason's deserves more attention. Mrs. Mason's specializes in handmade premium brittle and brittle bonbons. The owner was the only person when I visited on a Sunday morning. She gave me samples, and everything I tried in Mrs. Mason's brittle and bonbon collection was delicious, crunchy, and buttery. I bought an 8 oz. gift box of Heart & Soul Brittle ($26.95) for my college professor. I also purchased an 8 oz. bag of Bare-Naked Cashew Brittle ($22.95) for my mom. They both thought the brittle was delicious. A bit pricey, but it makes an excellent gift for anyone who likes brittle or bonbons.

It will make any enemy a best friend after a bite or two of this brittle. The brittle has a nice thicker layer of the toffee, two layers of the white chocolate as well as the semi-sweet chocolate. It's a nice balance of crunchy hard toffee and melt in your mouth chocolates. Makes for a fantastic holiday gift and treat for friends and family alike. The smaller 4 ounce is great to accompany a charcuterie gift set or a stocking stuffer too.

Issues: for whatever reason they record your drivers license number on your receipt and in their computer system when you use a credit card. Maybe due to fraud or something else. It is not clearly stated that they record your identification but just they need to see it. I gave the owner my card, he swiped it and the proceeded to scan my driver's license into the register and it saved on the receipt. I immediately asked him to cancel/void the transaction because I didn't want my license number stored anywhere. I paid cash for the purchase, which I should have in the first place. He said the charge didn't go through, but it showed pending on my credit card app. He said to call if it posted. Fast forward 2 weeks later and I'm looking at my account with the charge present. I call immediately and the owner brushed me off with call my credit card company because it's nothing he can do. He stated it wouldn't go through because the transaction wasn't completed and then said he did what he needs to on his end. Customer service is poor and he stays in business because of the vast selection and acceptance of EBT as a payment option. I'd never go back to patronize this business. The response was so nonchalant when I purchased and when I needed the credit card issue resolved. Now I'm disputing the charge with my credit card company. Taking credit cards if you have to maintain personal information in such a manner blows my mind. I don't believe in scamming and I also don't agree with my driver's license number being printed on my receipt and archived the manner that was attempted.

If you're going to have a store that just sells kitch or art you need to follow a few rules…read more 1) Be nice to your customers. They don't have to buy anything and so you better kiss their behinds. Even if they don't want anything they might feel bad for you because you were so nice. 2) The prices need to be low enough to justify buying something useless. 3) You have to gave good stuff that people want, though they don't need. Also, it helps to have things that one has never seen before and thus must purchase it because they may never see it again. Well, Scout is a nice enough store. The store sells kitch, curios and art. The inside is nice and bright. There are some interesting items, but nothing that I can't live without. Also, I've seen a lot of the same items around the area. The prices were probably comparable but were still pricey. I don't think there was anything for less than $10 or I didn't find it. I give Scout 3 stars because the lady behind the counter was not very friendly or helpful. When I walked into the store she didn't acknowledge me right away or ask if I needed anything. Instead she just talked to a friend for almost the whole 15 minutes we were in there. I was the first to say hello as I entered. Eventually, she engaged us in conversation a little, but it wasn't the friendliest of conversations. Scout had some unique gift ideas and art pieces. Over all the quality stuff was very expensive. The rest could probably be purchased at other stores of a similar nature. I don't really have a reason to go back here.
