The flowers, the trees, the grapevines, the cottages and houses add to the ambience. Our bride described it as her "Hallmark" movie in real life. Guests and family enjoyed onsite accommodations making time for everyone to be together for the occasion. The onsite cottages and houses were in large part the reason that this venue was chosen. The entire wedding party and families were able to stay together and enjoy the weekend. Guests enjoyed dining at Barrel & Vine, the onsite restaurant and bar. It made it easy for everyone to enjoy the evening. The night before reception was quaint and beautifully staged to welcome everyone. The food from the restaurant and reception was outstanding. From the stuffed pepper appetizer and ham and biscuit to the pasta and chicken dish was delicious. All of the food was fresh and plentiful. The staff managed the crowd well and were professional clearing used plates and utensils off guest tables and replenishing tables. The Vineyard at High Holly reserved the property for the wedding weekend without other guests being on the property. I would recommend this venue for a small wedding that you would like to remain quaint and allow for the bride and groom to be present with their guests.

The tomato basil bisque was absolute "must try" good. The smoked trout was much to salty, maybe just my taste buds. The roasted beet salad was also good with fresh greens and an interesting assortment of almonds. But the beets were not roasted. Fresh beets are full of sugar and when halved or quartered then roasted, the sugar caramelizes and gives a unique flavor to the beets. These beets had no special flavor, they were from a can and quartered. Now the really bad, especially as they are a winery. I like sangria, it's a refreshing cool summer drink, composed of fresh fruit (apples, pears, plums, grapes and a healthy portion of citrus) and wine that is left to marinate. I watched the bartender add some 1/4inch pieces of green apples to a glass, fill with ice cubes and add wine. That is not sangria, that is watered down wine with an apple garnish. I will say that the food at other tables really looked good.

The location is beautiful, and I think we'd have loved it more if the weather had been sunny/not rainy/warm, but with that said it was still a beautiful hillside (nice view of the mountain too). The setup is a little weird; it felt like the wine shop was set up in someone's garage and not really a legitimate wine shop. Their indoor seating was a little bit awkward and having a place for larger groups like ours to sit for a full tasting would've been appreciated. As it was, we had to crowd around a small bar table. The staff were friendly though, so overall it was quite a nice experience considering this is in somewhat rural Georgia. The bathroom setup is weird... again, didn't feel like I expected a winery to feel because the bathrooms are in a true 'outhouse' but they were clean. So that's just my personal preference. If the environment had been better suited to cold/rainy weather and had better seating options, we probably would've stayed longer. Not a bad place to stop though!
