Lots of dog friendly people laces in Hood River

Super friendly folks and big patio. Very dog friendly too if you're looking. You can even bring your dog inside while you order but pups just stay on the patio for seating.

We just kind of ended up in the area and were really hungry so thought we'd stop here. The service is really lacking. So rude! They have handwritten menus up with no info about the items and no prices. Really? You don't think people might want to know the prices? Sorry you're so put out when we ask how much for the items we're considering ordering. At that it was quite overpriced. We just had to hope the food would be worth it. The outdoor seating was decent and the beer was fine. Pulled pork nachos were okay. Nothing special for sure. I've had much better at half the price. Same with the pulled pork sandwich. Not much going on there. We were glad just to be finished and get out. Would never stop here again.

Even in this Covid era you can find a winner. Great location food was good and so was the bloody Mary's. Company as always was the best part.

Great job turning the parking lot into a beer garden! This was a nice spot to come on a sunny day and enjoy the patio.

This is the second time I've been to this pub. The first time found it by accident - just walking around unable to find an eatery in downtown Hood River that wasn't overwhelmingly busy. Today the Mrs and I went to it directly on our excursion from Portland. I was greeted by a friendly, personable bartender who gave us ample time to order. She was knowledgeable and accommodating. Having been a regular at a local pub near my house I can assure you that pub dining is NOT fine dining - it's actually homegrown goodness, generally limited but oh so delicious. I had the bangers and mash and was more than happy with my choice. The wife had the fish tacos - they looked wonderful and exceeded her expectations. We were offered a free beverage 'cause of an overpour and it was very generous but declined 'cause the ale and food we ordered was just the right amount. I really liked that we were able to pay and tip before our meal was served. So many times places take FOREVER to bring you the check and then you have to wait FOREVER to get it back. Paying and tipping ahead of time makes sense. We loved the outdoor patio - roomy and comfortable; other patrons had brought their fuzzy friends whom we got to pet while waiting for our grub. Very eclectic ambiance, lots of seating options and friendly service. Honestly, if more eateries in Hood River were like the Oak Street Pub we'd have a harder time deciding where to eat. Until then - Oak Street Pub is for us. Cheers!

The food was good, ambience was good UNTIL... The staff allow a woman to change a baby in the middle of the pub on a table less than six feet from us while we were eating. Disgusting

    Patio seating.

Upon arrival we saw a few different beers we wanted to try. Luckily quite a few of them were in cans which we took home but we had a beer there at the taproom also to absorb and relax at the taproom location. An adorable cat that more than likely lived there or put in a hard working shift of charming customers was present and we made over the kitty and pet it when it came to see us. Such a lovely cat! But onto the beer now! For the beer that we had at the taproom we had the Rice and Shine Japanese Lager. This was a pretty solid lager and one of my favorite types of lagers. I do love a lager that involves rice. Perhaps not the best ever that I have come across but still quite good. The flavor profile of this beer has a clean, crisp and refreshing aspects to it along with a biscuity flavor. The rest of the beers we had went home with us in cans. One beer was the River Pillow. This was a Pale Ale and had a nice, soft feel to it. The hop presence wasn't too overwhelming. We had another Pale Ale also. This one was called the Shredipede. This beer has a clean, crisp and citrusy presence to it. It is bright in hue and is nice and crushable which means you can have more than one with ease. Moving on from that was another kind of lager. This one was a Mexican Lager. The name of this one was the Pinche Chela. Mexican Lagers are another favorite lager of mine if not my #1 favorite for this beer type. This beer has a nice corn taste which provides a natural sweetness and the beer is nice and crisp. Again... perhaps not my most favorite version that I have had but enjoyable all the same. After that we went to darker beer territory and had a dry Irish Stout. I love these kinds of stouts because of that dryness aspect at work. Other flavor features in this are roastiness, oatmeal and the feel of it is smooth, creamy and soft. An excellent stout. This was a good stop and I am glad this brewery finally got tried out.

Their beer flights come with 6 pours each and it's served in a tall sail (or sharkfin?) shaped tower, each choice is labeled so you know what you're drinking. Their burger with bacon tomato jam was a 10/10! So much flavor and the bun was fresh and lightly buttered and toasted (this really takes it up a notch!). The meat was very tender and lots of flavor (tasted high quality). It's served with a heaping order of fries (or you can upcharge it for $2 and do salad, soup or sweet potato fries). Their chicken wings were tender and came off the bones easily while still having crispy edges. Perfection. After a swim in the river across the street, this place is a chill spot for good food, beer and service. They have indoor seating with views and outdoor seating as well. My husband has been here before but it was my first time. I was craving a burger and this place does not disappoint. The burger patty was thick and juicy and cooked to perfection. We decided to sit inside, please be aware that it might be a bit cold depending where the air vent is located in conjunction to where you're sitting. The service was okay. My husband ordered his burger with bacon but it didn't come with bacon. However, we were charged for the bacon on his burger.

But the service is beyond slow. 20 minutes in another part our group asked if the food was ready and was told it would take 30 minutes. After the half hour long wait was up we inquired again and asked that the food be changed to go because we did not have the entree afternoon to wait. When we finally got the food it was not made to go. I asked for that again since we'd be waiting like 45 minutes to which the employee corrected me saying it had "only been 40 minutes"and the employee declined, gave us two cartons so that we could do that ourselves. With just a few minutes before our ride arrived we return to our table to eat. I soon learned why the food took so long. Well done doesn't describe the burger patties. Both we so over cooked and burnt the they were crunchy with the overwhelming taste of charcoal from being so burnt. The French fries that came with it were also awful. The taste was that of fries that were quite likely older than the order we placed. So the Ferment Brewing Company wins the trifecta. Slow service, Ruid employees, and awful food. I trust that the great community of Hood River has some good places to eat but regrettably FMC is absolutely not one of them.
