On the phone we explained we had our infant son with us, and they said they would give us the last room they had. We drove fifty miles through whiteout conditions to get here after closing, and the elderly owners not only waited for us, but had walked to the other end of the motel, through heavy snow, to turn the heat on in our room before we arrived. Truly decent people. The place isn't new, but it's clean, and more importantly to us, it was safe and warm. They gave us a room with three beds, because it was all they had left when we originally called. I know for sure they could have rented it out ten times over in the time it took us to drive there.

The coffee maker was clean, the bathroom was clean, the room was clean. They have Direct TV with HBO and Cinemax for viewing. What more do you want? Clean room, clean bed, clean sheets. They even gave us an inflatable mattress so we could fit better. The owners (or managers) went above and beyond to accommodate us. While pulling into the parking area, we got stuck in the snow and Heath immediately backed his truck up to it and pulled us out. The wife, Regina, was so so special and sweet. We could have stayed and chatted all day. The only reason this place doesn't get 5 stars is because the room wasn't very clean. We don't normally stay at motels, so I am only comparing this to hotels. We were extremely grateful to have a warm room to sleep in (instead of a small suv with 5 adults and a baby), so we were not being picky at that point of desperation. They also had a great array of complimentary coffees and teas in the main office, with Starbucks syrups and specialty creamers. All in all, loved the people and the water pressure LOL. From the moment we arrived, the kindness and care we received went far beyond anything we expected. Manager Amy runs an outstanding team and clearly sets the tone for genuine compassion and service. Ray at the front desk was especially wonderful--he went out of his way to help us, even connecting us with his sister Juana, who graciously stepped in to give us rides around town when we needed them. That level of personal care is something you just don't see anymore. Ray himself was also incredibly inspiring and helpful throughout our stay. Susan, who took care of hospitality and the kitchen, made sure we were comfortable and well cared for every day. Andrea kindly gave us a ride to the hospital, Jeremy made sure we got safely back, and Carlos helped with transportation to the mechanic so we could deal with the truck. Each person we encountered showed genuine kindness, generosity, and a willingness to go above and beyond. In a difficult moment, they treated us more like family than guests. They did warn when sending a reminder email about the reservation that the hotel is undergoing renovations and there might be some evidence of that while staying, we were concerned but stuck with the reservation. Besides the note on check in, I did not see any reno being done, but man does this location need it. It seems like it is 20 years outdated and worn out! The king room we staying in was tight except for the very old bathroom that was huge if not very in need of updates and fixes. We also thought the noise in the hotel was a bit more than anywhere else we stayed. We definitely heard a dog, motorcycles from the property outside we could see (private residence) and voices. If they are really doing a reno, this will all be fixed I am sure, but right now it isn't great. It is a hotel off Route 66, a road more dotted with motels than nicer hotels, so maybe it just is what it is for where it is. However, it was place to lay our heads for the night, nothing made me want to stay.
