Big rigs fly by on the road just outside all day and night - often engine breaking to add to the noise. I was in a corner 3rd floor room this last time, and despite white noise at full volume on one phone and earbuds in with soft music coming from the other, it was still loud to the point I called the front desk about 1: 00 asking for another room - but none were available. I'm not a light sleeper and colleagues have also said they slept poorly. Otherwise, the hotel is clean and comfortable - 5 stars. The breakfast is good (with higher protein options) and the location is convenient as well - easy to get in and out of. Can't decide if I'll go back. Perhaps I'll call first to see if I can be guaranteed an even-numbered room...

The good stuff: the parking lot was spacious, they offer a free breakfast and wifi and they have a decent gym and pool for those looking for those amenities. Now for the issues. The Elevator was out of order. The gentleman in line ahead of us asked about the location of the gym. He then was asked if he wanted a first floor room due to the inoperable elevator and he said yes. Hmmm. Then when my husband and I (in our 60s and me with an injured right knee) were being checked in, she told us we were on the 3rd floor and that she hoped we did not have alot of luggage. Not good. We inquired about the availability of a first floor room and were told that they were sold out. Serious demerit for giving the first floor room to the workout oriented buck ahead of us in line. The hotel is well appointed and the room was seemingly clean but smelled like cigarette smoke. The temperature was difficult to control. My oura ring said my overnight body temp was +.08 which is very unusual for me. The bed was hard. It was quiet overnight and that was a plus. The bathroom was clean and well stocked with lots of towels. However when the fan was turned on in the bathroom, it sounded like a jet engine was in there with you. A helpful feature for them is a text in the morning asking what your intended check out time was so they could plan. That is efficient. The lobby was spacious with late night snack and food offerings with a microwave available. In short, I would likely only come here again failing other known quantities in overnight accommodations in Batavia.

We found this place and they accommodated us despite being late. Plenty of parking for our pickup truck with car hauler. Place was clean and beds were most comfortable I've ever slept in. The charm of the building was preserved through years of careful restoration. We stayed here recently on a Friday night after hoping to see air balloons over Letchworth SP. The…read moreinn was easy enough to find since at least the GPS still worked to guide us to the inn. No phone service in most of Letchworth, and no internet access also. If not for the free wifi at the Inn, we'd be lost in space! After a quick tour of the inn in which they also mentioned the future work to be done on another floor of the inn, we turned in hoping to take a hot shower after standing and walking all day in the hot sun. 2-3 mins no hot water in the shower. More time and still NO hot water. Opened the faucet in the sink for over 10 minutes and NO hot water. Went down to ask about it, and nobody was at the desk. No hot shower so went to sleep in a grimy skin. At least the bed was comfortable. There was a ceiling fan and this was the first ceiling fan I've ever seen outside a personal residence, and the blades were clean! But looking around, yes, the place is old and needs a lot of loving attention to detail, as there are scrapes, cracks and peeling something all over. There is dust everywhere and I am allergic to that everything. The hot water is nonexistent tho water pressure was good. Then we wondered IF the plumbing was lead! My wife went down twice for tea and after she left twice, the door popped open all by itself, apparently needing a strong pull to be sure it closes with a click. There is free wifi which helped us greatly in planning for the next day, and as we drove off, in helping us get not lost! We also thought the very light grab and go breakfast was a bit too light, and a nicer sit-down breakfast would have been appropriate, considering the cost of the room. I am sure if they give a bit more attention to the many details of the structure, a decent breakfast and overall the business itself, and the many many rooms, they just may enjoy more occupancy!!

The hotel has been in his family close to 104 years and under Pat's management for 50 plus years! Pat is accommodating and a great bar tender! The waitress was right on top of providing excellent service and had a great sense of humor! Some folks I know have been under the impression that the American Hotel of Lima was permanently closed, but be assured they are not.
