We have stayed a the hotel several times in the past. Sadly this stay did not live up to previous standards. I always appreciated the flooring in the rooms (no nasty carpeting) but it's now warped. I fet like i was walking on bubble wrap. The furniture is not wearing well (rip in the chair) and there was an empty water bottle left on the floor obviously left by someone & not removed by housekeeping. Overall a disappointment. On the positive side, I think their breakfast was actually better. There was a good selection of hot choices along with the normal cold items. The rooms used to be above average but since under new management the rooms have declined severely. The floors, every board was bowed, it was like walking on a trampoline. There was an empty water bottle on the floor when we arrived and the furnature and top quilt had discusting stains. The place was not at full capacity but they put, real loud talking people with a child screaming almost all night, in the very next room. Absolute no reason to put them there. There should have been at least one room between guests. I promise will never stay there again. read more

My mom received a free stay at the hotel as a promotional prize and we were pleasantly surprised at how nice this place is! With 84 rooms and suites available, about half with a track view and a few with balconies. The room was very modern and spacious. The beds were very comfortable, glad they took the time for so many great upgrades. Definitely a fan of their green natural bath amenities. i went there with a group of friends. I had my chain and cross stolen and another friend had his wallet stolen. He stayed in a different room on a different floor. No one stayed in the room after i left and thy went up the day after i called about it and said thy triple checked the room and its not there. i know i left it on the bathroom counter totally my fault however their staff clearly stole that and my friends wallet. I would not recommend staying here or make sure you take everything bc if not it will disappear and noone from their house keeping staff ever saw it. read more

Whoever designed this hotel did not have prior experience. In order to get to the elevator you walk down a long hall, the first floor is the second floor, making it necessary to go up and down a lot. If you have a hard time walking this is not a good place to stay. It is not even possible to pull up to the front door. You must park across the street, including handicap. The room was not cleaned prior to checking in well. We even found medicine and reported all to the front desk. We did receive some "free play" in the casino yet it was disgusting and potentially dangerous. Unprofessional. Other oddities: There is only one elevator and the staff seems to use it for cleaning carts and other items. Guests needed to use it and the staff would not budge. We woke up around 8:30am and there were literally six "maids" waiting to clean rooms in our hallway. We were going to breakfast and they were visibly upset we were not checking out yet. One of them also had a radio blasting hard rock from their cart. Completely all unprofessional. We were there for a benefit .... Buffet dinner. Again odd..... the buffett has two sides yet there is no way to get to one side, in addition deserts were the first item in the buffett. the whole thing is designed backwards. Again, unprofessional. The food.... Bad. That's all our party could say. Breakfast: disgustingly bad. Again all unprofessional. Paper plates, powdered eggs, very few choices, no bacon, and more. Casino: some people would like slots that look and act like slots. Ones that are normal dominations; not something that says one cent yet 40 credits. How about a dollar/quarter slot. Etc. Way overcrowded with a less than optimal band playing. It's impossible to walk through in a straight line. Would we come back? The races were fun. For that yes and only that. Did we tell mgmt? We stayed here this week and booked their special where you get $75 free play for 2, 4 beers at their restaurant, and a $20 gas card. It was an awesome deal, so we booked the suite because it wasn't that much more. The room was huge. Check in is over by the casino, so we came in without our stuff. Once you get your key, you can get in and out closer to the hotel. Our room has a huge fridge, so you can bring drinks. It also has a wine fridge. There was absolutely no food available past 11pm, so also bring snacks. The free breakfast buffet is from 630am to 930am. I wish it was a little later. It's a pretty decent spread for free though. The only other "complaints" would be that the hotel hallways smell really bad. I'm not sure what it is. The room smelled fine. And the bed has those brown decorative pillows on top that then contaminate the clean pillows. I don't care what the bed looks like. I just want it to be clean! We played all night until they closed at 1am, and we left up. It was a great value, and we'd definitely do it again. read more

Stayed there over summer. Had bed bugs (confirmed by doctor) bite me up and down my arms and legs. When I complained they simply said they checked and found none. I would not trust them nor stay here. I've stayed here numerous times in the suites prior to this without any issue, and clearly staying in their non-suites comes with these issues. The actual facilities are really lovely, but I had a particular experience with my reservation that I felt was managed awkwardly by the staff. Checked in for a wedding, and was presented with an upgraded suite - fully equipped with a kitchenette, separate king bedroom, excellent bathroom facilities, and a prime view for the Molly Hatchett concert. WOOOOOOOO! Then, while I was out at the rehearsal, I got a call that the upgrade was a mistake, and that they had moved me a to another room while I was out and without my authorization. They asked that I stop back by reception on my return, which I did and was presented with a half-apology and the key to my new room - a standard room with two twins. The only restitution offered was $20 in casino vouchers... provided after they confiscated the initial $30 in credits I received when mistakenly checked in the the wrong room (apparently). It was poorly handled, and sullied an otherwise very enjoyable stay. read more

What a great surprise! Usually have found that most casino hotels outside Vegas are barely functional but Batavia Downs hotel was great! Our room had contemporary furnishings, ample lighting, great bathroom and even robes! The entire hotel was spotless, windows in the hallways overlook the race track and have hitches with seating . Every floor has a large area with tables, microwave,sink and refrigerator and a comfortable seating area with daily newspaper. All staff was friendly and helpful. Your night stay included $10 free play per person, fee internet and free breakfast! The breakfast area was large ,friendly staffed and clean. The buffet consisted of scrambled egg,hash browns, sausage, pancakes, assorted pastry,muffins,bagels etc, cereal,fruit,yogurt,coffee,juice- pretty decent for a free breakfast! Room was spacious. King size bed was extremely comfortable. Floors had a wood look, probably laminate or that new tile that looks like wood and not actual hardwood but regardless of material they looked great. Bath room was large with a large walk in shower. Complimentary breakfast as a simple but good tasting buffet. Scrambled eggs, sausage, home fries and hash brown patties, a pancake machine, variety of breads, and yogurt. I recommend paying extra for a track side room even if you're not going there for the races. It snowed overnight and our room faced the large parking lot. The snow removal crew got started early which made it hard to fall back asleep after waking up at 6am. Not holding it against the hotel or letting it effect my rating since it's good to know they take keeping the lot plowed seriously and due to it's size it makes sense for them to do it early in the morning. read more

Came here for the February special, $79/night with $10 gaming credit per person and free hot breakfast. The long walk from the checkin desk to the rooms is a good opportunity to see the track. We stayed in a king bed room, and liked that it was a very modern and spacious room with high ceilings. The leather chair also converted to a pullout bed too! Affordable room service menu. When you book, you can upgrade to a trackside room. We didn't pay the extra to do so, but the next day I wish we had since the snow plows were very loud in the morning. I also really liked that they had an eco-friendly mission statement, until the next morning when we had the hotel breakfast and every utensil, bowl, cup, etc were disposable. I was also unimpressed by the free "hot breakfast", it was much lower quality than everything else we ate and drank at the casino, and didn't have great hot options. They also had a tip jar out for the breakfast staff which seemed unusual to me. I'd recommend it if your looking for a fun night's stay in the casino. Our suite over looks the track for great viewing of the races . You can bet on your phone and also watch the races on tv. Suite is clean and large enough for 6 of your friends to hang out and have some charcuterie while you bet the farm away! Good things bad things and can't decide if we will be back. Not sure if it was a holiday weekend or a wedding at the hotel. But there is a need for improvement. To start we got here about 20 to 3. 3:00 as check in. So we of course tried to check in. We were told room was not ready if you come back a little after 3 it will be. We checked our bag and went to gamble. 3:25 back to check in, thought that we weren't let in until check in time. But we were wrong...they said we will call you when room us ready...so we went to eat dinner...a little earlier than expected. 4:40 went back finally told that room is not ready but stated that they were short staffed on house keeping. We did see a few people waiting for their rooms. Finally by 5:20 we received a call that our room was ready. Did they offer anything for the delay no...but wondering if we were late checking out they would be not charge us extra. Ok lets move on. Room was different than most. Quite modern no rugs, very tall ceilings, nice bathroom. No rugs makes for noise from above comes through or could be echo from tall ceilings. Try to get a room on 4th floor. Elevators go to 2nd floor automatically and being on first floor did not work in our favor. They seem to go up instead of down so again don't stay on 1st floor unless you want to spend time in the elevator. After 2 long trips we took the stairs. Thank god we are in shape. Amenities were good keurig, fridge and great bathroom extras. With the price of our room we received 2 $10 play in the casino and free breakfast. Not in the fortunes restaurant but in hotel. It was good. Food was a little bland but instead of waffle maker they had pancake maker. That was a nice switch up. Wife and I recently stayed there and the king mattress in our room was hard and lumpy, a bad nights sleep. You could feel air pockets in the laminate flooring in the room when walking on it. My husband's employer weren't able to have a Christmas Party at Christmas time so they opted to have an employee appreciation dinner in March instead. They chose to have it at Fortune's Restaurant and then wanted to get all of the guys a hotel room so they wouldn't drive home after drinking. I wasn't able to make it to the dinner because I wasn't feeling well so my husband had to bring my dinner up to me. Dinner was a nightmare and even though it was a planned event, people got their food at all different times, he waited almost his whole meal for his one alcoholic beverage...which pretty much meant we didn't have to stay in the hotel. The food he brought back to me was incredibly bland, it reminded me of hospital food. I opted for the fish fry dinner. It wasn't gross, but I've had better almost anywhere. While he was at dinner, I took the opportunity to inspect the room. (I have very good attention to detail and I notice EVERYTHING.) The bed was comfortable, but the weird texture of the bedspread and the top 3 pillows has pilled over time. They should have went with a smoother material that won't pill up because it looked very used. There was also a small hole in the fitted sheet. There were a lot of blankets on the bed, and multiple flat sheets, very odd. I was glad to see that they have no carpets, but they do have some very ugly and cheap looking throw rugs in front of the TV and next to the one side of the bed. I think carpets are gross since they do not clean them between guests, but if you're going to do throw rugs in a more modern room, get something more stylish. The bathroom counter wasn't clean, you could see either dried water residue, or who knows what else, plus toothpaste splatter. So they don't wipe down the counters between guess. Gross. There is a large mirror in the bathroom that has a light going around it and a small makeup mirror with a light ring in that, that was a nice touch, but upon turning it on, the light was so dim it was pointless. Hairdryer is in a bag on the bottom shelf of the sink. There is a coat closet, the safe is in there on the top shelf, which is kind of annoying if you're short. I never use the safes because they have keys to open them anyhow so I don't see the point, I just try to keep them on me or hide them. I'm not positive that the hotel has a key, but I've always wondered if there was a way to get into the safe if you forget your passcode, or on this one you can even swipe a credit card. There is a rubber button right next to the door and I pulled it out to reveal a keyhole. So SOMEONE has a key, I'm not sure if just the hotel manager does or if all staff does, but doesn't give me any peace of mind using them so I just skip it. There are a couple satin hangers and a potpourri sachet that is probably over a year old as it didn't smell at all. A few more regular hangers and coat hangers. There are 2 bathrobes, a plastic laundry bag that you can use to get dry cleaning done there, I actually took it to use for our dirty clothes so I didn't have to put dirty clothes back in with my clean clothes. On the floor in a clear zippered bag is some type of bedding. I couldn't tell if it was a blanket or pillows. Our room was 72 degrees, way too warm for me, so we turned the heat off and actually ended up having to turn the air on because it wasn't cooling, the air conditioner had some black spots on the area where it blows out, hopefully it wasn't mold spots. There is an abundance of plugs and lamps in the room. There is a light in the ceiling by the front door, then there are lamps on each side of the bed, a lamp on the desk, and then another lamp behind the chair that is in the room. There are plugs on all of the table lamps, and there are plugs installed on each side of the tv stand and I noticed there were even usb style plugs on the tv stand. The remote looked dirty, their channels are incredibly limited, HBO is the only premium channel. No dresser, there is a weird rack drawer thing in the tv stand and a mini fridge. No microwave. There is a Keurig but it's gross inside and out, even the water area looks gross so it's obviously not cleaned often. There is an ice bucket and cups, there is a dusty tray on the bottom shelf of the tv stand that has 2 regular coffee k cups, 1 decaf, and one earl grey. Sign says if you want more they are $1 each. Pretty steep if you ask me. Not sure where you get water to fill the keurig, you'll have to go out and buy bottled water I guess. They have a drink machine out in the hall but it's expensive. Worst part of the entire trip, they wanted our credit card for a $35 incidental fee, promised it would be refunded when we checked out. We found the next day it wasn't refunded and they charged another $65. My husband called and they said they accidentally charged us for the room rather than his boss who was paying for them all. It's been 3 days and we still haven't been refunded. Pretty major screw up. read more

Hotel room is clean but valet if you use it after a certain time keeps your keys till 11am which is extremely inconvenient. We got back from a activity at about 1245 they were closing had the doors locked . What happens if your a little later? We had reservations there was no snack machines and we were basically locked in I felt like I was in prison. I contacted the hotel due to a snow and ice storm making roads undriveable so that I'd be missing an event hosted at their location for which I'd be a vendor paying to attend. Initially I was seeking credit for another stay so as not to take a dive with the hotel expenses. Initially the first night was omitted (the first, more expensive one that I realized in retrospect [and having known so may have then just stopped there with the reservation adjustment]). After the l bit of confusion was clarified with the young man on the phone I was led to believe that matters would be handled and I'd be contacted otherwise. Well, pending charge for full stay and no contact. I'll advise the event holder of their policy as she may want to avoid renting space from Batavia Downs in future. read more

We spent 2 nights here for a wedding. The hotel is new (less than 1 year). The rooms and public areas are spotlessly clean. The floors were wood which is much cleaner than carpet. Shower was nice and roomy. 3 issues that should be addressed; the beds are too high to be able to easily get in, the door peepholes are set too high to be useful for many people, and unless you are an NBA player forget about using the safe without climbing on a chair. There should have been more consideration on the part of the room designer. They offer complimentary breakfast which had a good variety of hot and cold (the make your own pancake machine was a treat), everything was fresh and tasty. Their biggest positive is there staff, very professional and friendly. Always did all possible to ensure we were well taken care of. Very clean, almost new hotel. Room floors are laminate instead of carpet so lots of noise from above. The people were friendly and fairly efficient. However, if you have any ambulatory issues this is not the place for you. First you load the luggage cart on the side of the street by the door. Some reviews reference bellmen but I would have loved to have seen one...ever...in 2 days stay. Then you go to an elevator that only takes you to the Hotel lobby one floor above. Then you push that luggage cart about a quarter of a mile to the next elevator. Then you push that cart another quarter of a mile to your room. Parking is a good distance from building entrance and actual hotel is a fair distance from the registration desk. But the biggest problem - paper thin walls. You could hear every conversation, movement, TV - anything from other rooms and they weren't even next two you. This was a bit problematic when people returned from casino at 2:30 AM and turned on TV and had conversations. read more

I have been to Batavia Downs several times but this was my first time in the hotel. Staff was very friendly, rooms were good size & super clean. We had a double queen room which included single serve coffee maker and a mini fridge for our drinks. They also offered turn down service with chocolates. Closet even had 2 robes (but not enough because room was booked for 3 people). As part of the booking we received $10 in free play per person which is a fun perk. Love how close the rooms are to the casino. Very convenient for a fun ladies night out & no one has to drive anywhere. We enjoyed the horse races for few hours, had an excellent dinner at Fortunes & played the slots. My only complaint about the hotel itself was that check in was at 3, but our room was not ready until 4:30. After a long drive there & being out in the heat & humidity we just wanted to rest & relax a bit before our night out. Since the room wasn't ready we waited on hotel couches in hallway area & were not offered anything for the inconvenience. Otherwise the hotel was great & plan to stay again. read more

I booked a room with the hotel two months prior to arriving. Upon arrival customer service was nice, asking what we were in town for we thought nothing to say why we were in town friendly enough we thought. We CHECKED into our room dropped our bags off and locked up and left. Now when you check into a room under no condition should anyone there after enter your room without approval or a key... we arrived back to our room late around 11pm to find someone had been in our room!! Absolutely unprofessional and no need what so ever to enter a room after a guest has checked in!!!!!! Our belongings were left to keep safe so we thought! This hotel is awful! Do not stay here!!!!! Unless you want to be robbed and your privacy invaded! Absolutely disgusted with the lack of care when we brought this to the attention of the supervisor. I do not care what hotel your at no one should enter your room at any point while a guest is checked in, unless it is a morning route of cleaning.
