The property itself is beautiful with renovations made to accentuate and preserve the home's origins while providing guests with new features such as a gas fire pit on the front porch. The owners themselves are respectful and gracious hosts who ensured all of our needs were met and we enjoyed our stay. They are knowledgeable of the area as well as do not mind sharing any useful tips when exploring if needed, but ensure privacy is respected. I would definitely recommend a stay there for anyone wishing for a more authentic upstate NY experience.

I cannot emphasize how lousy our two night experience was at the B & B. The sleeping room was small, very dusty, full of cobwebs, and uncomfortably hot, 83 degrees, (the window AC unit did not work properly). The refrigerator was located in the closet and was unplugged upon arrival as was one of the only two lamps in the room. I had to crawl behind the bed (very dusty and dirty) to plug-in the lamp for marginal room illumination. How anyone could report that the place was clean leaves me wondering how some people live. The double size bed was situated up against the wall, making it necessary for the second bed occupant to crawl over the other bed occupant to exit the bed (very thoughtless design layout). This room should have been designated for single person use only. The parking area that was designated for the house guests only was extremely inadequate (tight and dotted with large stones that one had to navigate to exit the vehicle. The main driveway open area was restricted to the proprietors use only. This is slightly short sited and selfish. Speaking about the proprietor, she was missing in action, intentionally avoiding the obligatory social contact that is expected and necessary for a B & B hostess. The minimal breakfast was set out on a small serving table in the front living room and you were expected to share your meal with the numerous bees on the front porch while balancing a plate on your lap. The website pictured dining table was completely unavailable and behind closed doors. We never set eyes on the dining table. All I could think of was a bait and switch game during our entire stay. The swimming pool exhibited a closed sign for the entire period with no access on both 90 degree days. After thirty years of operating a B & B establishment (as is posted on the website), I would expect that the commonly written criticisms would have been improved and corrected by this time. Rarely am I impressed by accommodations, but I was duly impressed with the Acorn Inn. It was exactly the escape we needed after 16 months in isolation. Sheryl thinks of everything and could not be more hospitable. The grounds were impeccable and the bed in the Barn Suite was more comfortable than my own. And the breakfasts were excellent; a perfect start to each day. We will be back and I highly recommend.

It's a no frills hotel, clean and comfortable. The rooms are spacious. I was booked on the upper floor, spoke to the owner/ mgr and he transferred me to the ground floor in no time. I believe his name is Ron, very nice. I was lucky there was availability. The room provides WiFi, A/C, soap, towels, a mini fridge, TV,ironing board & iron, hair dryer, phone. They do not provide daily room service unless requested.
