Went for anniversary and had heard about the elegant setting over looking a vineyard. That was so not true was seated by window over looking a routing stair case covered in half dead vines that weren't even grape vines. Service was excellent but food did not meet the hope. I had ribeye which was not flavored well at all. My wife had salmon which she said was fantastic. Upon arriving , our welcome was quickly dissolved to what can we help you with an unwelcome smile from a person behind a computer . We just had the most beautiful Anniversary experience we could have ever hoped for. We didn't start out too happy as there was a wedding going on so we were originally seated upstairs. It was a little more crowded and not as romantic as I imagined. Our sweet server Ashley must have seen the disappointment on my face. We are both full time workers and our 3 sons keep us pretty busy so a romantic night out is not so easy to come by. The woman in charge, Lori came to meet us and created the most beautiful and romantic dinner I could have ever wished for. It was right out of a movie!!! *Oak Valley Vineyards* Laurie, the manager, was more than cordial. Attentive and friendly. Maddie was the equally nice bartender who helped bring out drinks and such, always smiling and helpful. Chef Paul came out to meet us, which is always nice. Decor lovely. Small dining area, only 6 tables or so, but each had fresh flowers in them. Alstroemeria flowers tonight; apparently they are changed weekly! Truly a lovely setting for a nice time with friends and family or a romantic date. They have wine, of course. But, as always, I leave the alcohol to the connoisseurs I will stick with my specialty, the food! My Arnold Palmer was refreshing enough for me. *House Bread comes out hot, maybe even made to order on a slower weeknight. Fluffy inside, brushed with olive oil, great as a starter or side. But, alas, had to order actual appetizers anyway! *Mussels biggest disappointment tonight. Way too briny, even use of a sop could not overpower it. The *Bandera Quail was nothing short of amazing. Sure contender for best dish tonight. Delicious and so tender I might have thought it was chicken! Barely gamey tasting, I am convinced they need to make far larger servings of this for a main dish. Soup and salad. We knew we would have leftovers, but everything on the menu was so tempting! The *Lobster Bisque was rich, but that is definitely a good thing when it comes to bisque. Creamy and thick, there was not much meat as far as pieces goes, but you could certainly taste it. Loved it! *Salmon Salad was filling enough to be a main entree, on the lighter side. The salmon was close to rare, looked seared. And oh so good. Another "starter" that I could eat as a main course. Rarely is salmon this perfectly executed in my opinion; it is not usually my fish of choice, but it would be if it always this scrumptious! *Mushroom Risotto might have been the best thing of the night. Creamy, full of flavor, but not over rich. Spotted a few different mushrooms, bella, oyster, portabella. Laurie confirmed I was correct, but noted a total of four, adding crimini. *New York Steak (medium rare of course) did not taste like one- more fatty and tender, akin to a ribeye. We agreed that the quality was not up to par. Regardless, overpriced for an average steak. Came with *mashed potatoes which were lovingly made from scratch, which we could taste, and *vegetable medley (brussel sprouts today) which were a little bland. *Pork Chop was huge! Bone-in. Tender and savory, though some parts were slightly dry. Near the bone, the meat was extraordinary! Overall excellent. Sides were *red cabbage which was surprisingly sweet and good (made more sense when Laurie told us that Paul makes it with Dr. Pepper!) and I had requested to substitute with *polenta which was creatively whipped to the consistency of mashed potatoes; with some added seasoning was definitely my favorite side. Too full for dessert. Guess I have to come back for that. And to try the Crab Stuffed Red Snapper, which Chef Paul confessed was his favorite. Plus, it was too dark tonight to really savor the surrounding gardens, let alone the vineyards nearby! read more

We had my Mom's 80th birthday dinner here and it was great! They decorated the table beautifully and the food was great. We had a set menu and all of the items were a hit. Fried green tomatoes were really good as was the Brie. The lobster bisque was just right. We had steak, pecan crusted salmon and a chicken dish (can't recall the name). Everyone loved the steak. It was melt in your mouth good. The salmon was great. Pecan pie and chocolate truffle cake for dessert. Can't top it! Highly recommend for dinner or an event. Stopped in for Sunday brunch after we went to the Caverns. Staff was very polite and friendly. We were given suggestions that we really appreciated as we have not been there before. The restaurant is very quaint and the land it is on is breathtaking. We only saw a blonde lady and one waiter and they both suggested we split a dish. Thank goodness as it was a lot of food! We split the bison burger and it was presented so lovely. I imagined that I would just take some fries from my hubby's plate but no, they had some on my plate. The wine was reasonable and very good. Superb food and wonderful ambiance. We went with a large group, but it would also be romantic for date night.

We held my daughter's wedding here 2 April, 2017. It was beautiful and we were very pleased with the results. The food was good, the facilities clean, the gardens were spectacular. I'd definitely recommend it was a small wedding or event (under 100) We used the venue's recommended DJ and he was very good and helpful for audio for our minister and our musician for the ceremony. He played everything we asked for and then some. We also used the venue for part of our bridal session...beautiful! Only a few recommendations... There seemed to be some miscommunication, one was about the amount of alcohol needed, but that was easily remedied. Sometimes it was hard to get someone on the phone, emails were always answered but not always as promptly as I needed. A phone that could accept text messages might be helpful. We had made our own playlist for the day of preparations, but they were not able to turn off the piped in music, even the the music played was nice, we wanted some special songs. Lastly, I'd recommend your own "day of" wedding coordinator. The venue's coordinator wear many hats and wasn't always available for some of our questions and needs. read more

Bought a Groupon for the Vineyards to check it out since it is only a few miles from my home and we were all impressed how good the food tasted and how romantic the place was. You could see the fountain that was decorated with wine bottles as you drove into the gravel parking lot. I highly recommend this place for special occasions. I had the sea-bass and it tasted delicious. My husband had the steak and he enjoyed it and my friend had the chicken, which was also delicious. If you are a wine drinker this is the place to go. I am giving this place a few stars for a few reasons. Our waitress was great, the Vineyard was beautiful and the food was pretty good. But, I think the chef was having some issues the day we were there. We were literally the only ones in the restaurant and our food took an hour to be prepared. Our waitress told us the chef was having issues poaching the eggs. They say you can tell a true chef by their ability to cook an egg, well on this particular day, someone's chef skills were lacking. I had the chicken fried steak with Texas home fries and over easy eggs. It was pretty damn good and it was actually a steak, not ground beef. The gravy mixed with the egg yolk on top of the steak was a killer combination. They make a pretty good Bloody Mary as well (they did not have their own wines). I would go back to this place the setting was beautiful. That's my word and I'm sticking to it. read more

MARCH 2011. This was my wife and my third visit to The Vineyards, and the second time for our anniversary. This is a warm, romantic, and inviting place to eat. Off the beaten path, but well worth the drive north of town. We opted for the five-course food & wine pairing. It was delicious but entirely too much food. As usual, the food was fresh, tasty, and flavorful. Each wine complemented the food perfectly. Sitting in the cellar was very romantic. Our only complaint (minor) was that wine was brought out way too early or late, but never with the food. Server was pleasant, but a bit rushed and perhaps overextended. For $150, we expected just a bit better service. Regardless, the overall experience was great and we'll return again. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! She really took the stress of wedding planning off of us. We booked the venue for our October 29th wedding and had our ceremony outside under the gazebo and then had dinner in the wine cellar.
