my BFF from grade school found this winery for wine tasting In San AntoniO! Levi nailed our tastes. She and i totally have different tastes when it comes to wine! Levi asked a few questions and each suggestion was ahmazzing. He definitely knows his craft and the wine is ahmazzing. Family owned business - very low sulphates which is always a good thing! I loved the "Rattlesnake" red and I also purchased bottle of the French red - My BFF purchased a Cranberry red - she actually prefers white but went with this. I don't have the names exact here btw! If you are in San Antonio and enjoy wine you must visit this winery! You will not be disappointed! read more

I never knew this place existed until searched it up. My boyfriend & I each had 4 tastings which included 2 whites and 2 reds. Our server (forgot his name) was very educational, asked us what we wanted to taste and then started the tasting. Every wine is different so my favorite was the Cabernet, I even got to sample a sweet strawberry wine (not pictured). We will be back again to try more wine read more

We were looking for something to do and stumbled across this place. The yelp reviews were good so we decided to check it out. This is the only winery in the city of San Antonio which I thought was pretty cool. Stray Grape has an extensive selection of wines. I was very impressed by the selection and the taste of these wines. We went to Stray Grape on a Saturday. It was the day of the Kentucky Derby and it was packed. When me and my fiancé first walked in we thought we may have walked in on someone's private event. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by one of the employees and they were very friendly. We instantly felt welcomed by the employees and the regulars. I recommend others try some of their Port Wines, they are to die for. For being the only winery San Antonio and having the market cornered they still treat you like there's competition in the city. People are friendly, prices are reasonable and the wine well, it tastes fantastic. If you're looking for something to do and want some free wine tasting, this is the place to visit. Me and my fiancé will definitely be back. read more

Friendly people, wasn't familiar with the area and thought we were headed to a full scale winery. Disappointed really just a storefront in a strip mall so didn't do enough research obviously but tasting pours were generous and easy to drink. read more

I've been going there for years and this is one of the best kept secrets in San Antonio. Their wines are low sulfate, they have enough variety to satisfy everyone and they have a nice clientele and treat you like family. So you owe it to yourself to stop by and have a wonderful time. read more

This is an awesome winery. All the staff are very knowledgeable and understanding. One of the owners (Autumn) explained the tastings well especially to my friends and family that were not big wine drinkers. We had the delight flight tastings which was on the sweeter side and it was well paired together. For being in San Antonio and not having to drive far out of the way, I would definitely recommend this place! Will be back for sure. read more

In town for a half marathon and to check San Antonio out. We found this gem of a place through our yelp app of course. Upon entering we were immediately greeted with warm smiles by the staff/patrons and to the soothing sounds of a wonderful singer. There were a number of comfy tables/chairs, bar stools and couches available for seating. The place was warm and inviting with a rustic chic vibe. The ordering process was fantastic with lots of recommends. We were checked on frequently and just had a wonderful time interacting with the team of ladies that made sure to take care of us. The wine was great as well. I would definitely recommend stopping in to grab a drink. The live singer was a real bonus. There's not much sadder than a stray grape. So come be a good citizen and give them a home in your belly. You can adopt a stray grape in increments or take many home at once. You can even adopt while sitting in a comfy armchair w/ live music. Definitely worth checking out! read more

The environment was quiet and private, there was a crowd when we walked in at the bar but there was enough seats for us at the end. We were able to take some snacks and opted out for purchasing an entire bottle vs wine tasting ($10 for 7 tastings I believe). I found that I'd take my chances w/the sweet blueberry wine and it'll be cheaper and more rewarding ($15+ per bottle). The only thing I didn't like too much was that the wine wasn't cold. I know red wine is good room temperature but I like sweet wine cold. read more

This is the best kept secret. Had a wonderful time for 60th Birthday. Levi and Jason are the best. They made the group feel so welcome. The ambiance was great. This is a fun place! We did the wine making project for work and I highly recommend doing that. You make your wine and then come back to bottle it later, this includes a label tailor made to your business. It would also be fun for adult's planning a family reunion, where you can take your own family wine home! Or, just stop by for some tasting and check it out. read more

My wife, daughter and I stopped in here on our way to San Antonio to view an upcoming eclipse. We'd been here once before, but it had been a few years and we didn't quite know what to expect. We had a terrfic time to say the least. Wines were great...very nicely done, but the real treat was chatting with the staff. This is a cute little place on the northeast side of town. Our friends recommended it so we thought we'd try it out! We were definitely impressed with the service - everyone is super friendly and tries to learn your name. They will also help you with picking out your favorite wine to try. The wines are made there, although we think they are similar to any wine making kit you can buy online and do yourself at home. I didn't find a favorite wine this time, but I'd try it again. It's a great place for a group of friends to come and try some wines, and they're at decent prices. You can also bottle your own wine and create labels if you have an event or something - super cute! read more

On a girls trip and decided to stop in for a sampling of the wines offered at this location. When pulling up to Stray Grape, you may wonder how a winery can be in a nondescript strip mall. Do not let the location stop you from visiting! We spent a lovely afternoon tasting a variety of wines from NZ to more local fare. I ended up with three of my favorite bottles of wine. First, I'll make it clear that I've never been to a wine tasting of any kind before. However, after trying this place, it's totally something I want to try more often! It doesn't look like much from the outside; it's part of a small shopping center. But you walk in, and it's comfy and nice. There weren't that many people there, we went pretty early during the day, so I'm sure it gets more crowded in the evenings. There are multiple TVs and plenty of tables. Our server was knowledgeable, fast, and friendly. For a mere $10 you get to taste 7 wines AND keep your glass! They give you little paper menus to keep. This was helpful as I underline each wine I tried so I could keep track, and even make a plan for the next time I go. My sister and I enjoyed tasting the wine, then writing how many stars we gave each out of 5. They have a pretty solid variety to choose from. Cabernet, Merlot, Moscato, all very different with varying depths of flavors. Ask your server for recommendations! They are super helpful. I definitely want to go back soon. read more

The service was very friendly and accommodating, however, all of the wines we tasted all had that "homemade" wine taste which doesn't sit well on the palate. We didn't finish our flights because the wine just didn't taste good. This place is good for inexperienced wine drinkers but if enjoy high end wine then this place isn't for you. read more

Love this place! I would be in trouble if this was in my neighborhood, because I would probably live here. Excellent service. Very knowledgeable about their wines. Reasonable prices. Wide selection. Established in 2008.

This winery began in 2008 when three wine loving sisters decided to take the plunge and make a business out of helping everyday wine lovers become wine makers. Wine snobs need not apply! Do we have a vineyard here at The Stray Grape? No, we don't, but we have access to grapes from over 70 different vineyards around the world and we think that is even better! Our grapes are sourced from 11 different countries and that means that our customers can travel the world of wine right here at our tasting bar. You don't need to wait for a "wine tasting" event to taste wine here at The Stray Grape because every day is a "wine tasting" event at The Stray Grape. A wine tasting here is just like if you were sitting at the vineyard, tasting from the barrel....without the travel expense! Trying to…read moreschedule the tour was really confusing, because the system they have on their main website is not the same system/website that you book with if you have a Living Social deal (it was a bookeo.com site). My first recommendation is to include, somewhere on your website, a link to your bookeo.com site for people who have Living Social/Groupon deals. I also submitted multiple emails from the website's "contact us" page without any response. When I did call Alicia to check if she received my emails, she claimed that she had not, but she had yet to even ask me my name....Weird. Anyway, this could have gone alot smoother. The actual tour was okay. My friend read reviews about Alicia showing up late, and she did. We were all on the bus for the most part and she showed up maybe 4-5 minutes late. I completely agree that she, as the business owner and tour guide, should be the first person there with the driver. Second recommendation - show up early and take care of checking people in as they arrive, not 10-15 minutes after the tour was supposed to start. Alicia talked to us the entire way telling us the history of wine making in the Texas Hill Country, and that was really nice. We were sitting in the very back, so it was hard to hear her. I would get a small microphone to help with that, because the stuff she was saying was very informative. We went to 3 different wineries. All were excellent, and we learned alot. My favorite was Singing Water. After the 2nd winery, Alicia put on this wine tasting dvd while we were on the bus, which was basically a "Master of Wine" talking about how much she knows about wine. It was insanely comical. We were all thinking "omg is this chic serious?" I do like that Alicia tried to give us a break from hearing her talk, and she probably needed it to, but there HAS to be some better material to show us. Please, get another dvd that is not so obnoxious. I did a quick youtube search on "Wine 101" and a handful of much better options popped up. All in all, we had a fun time. I feel bad for giving only two stars, but the truth is, there is alot of room for improvement. Had I paid the full $100+ dollars for this wine tour I would be outraged. It was fine for $30 bucks though.

As they are quick to point out, to the extreme of even having almost a "doorman" at the door to let you know before even entering: There's no grapes in this place, nor any wines made from grapes. It's all made from flowers and nectar. This company didn't invent this technique, but while they seem to do a good job at it, the wines, and I tried three different ones, just aren't my thing. The best one was a peach flavored one being served in a hot beverage on a chilly evening, which was nice, but had a lot of sugar in it, more of a hot toddy. Glasses of "straight up" wine on a subsequent visit just didn't do it for me. Bottom line, if you've got an open mind, definitely try this place. I'm glad I did, and again, it's a great place to meet up and relax, with a great atmosphere. Maybe the wines will appeal to you more than they did to me.
