Was still waiting for several other companies to even schedule the estimate. Decided to go with Oakes as they could schedule me within couple of days of the estimate and at better pricing than the couple of others I already had gotten. They did great work for us trimming our four trees in 2014 and 2018. In June 2022, the tree trimming work was very good but the customer experience was terrible. The owner ran the job and refused to honor the proposal that I had accepted and signed in May. He said the price given by the estimator was far too low for that much work. Ultimately, we agreed to a reduced scope of work, but he insisted on charging me 80% of the original proposal price to do only 50%-60% of the original scope of work. I came into this a happy repeat customer of Oakes and had twice gladly paid their high-end prices for great work, but this unpleasant experience made me extremely unhappy. Just had Oaks cut down 2 trees, take 3 limbs off another, trim/shape a Maple & ground down a stump. They did a fabulous job. They were well informed, courteous and cleaned up after themselves. Marshall was great explaining what could and couldn't be done. They didn't have all the equipment with them because of repairs but came back the next day and finished! Oakes did a great job removing a tree in your front yard. They said they probably couldn't get to us until after the holidays, yet were on site within a few days. They are loud and obnoxious while working. A lot of vulgar language. I witnessed Dan and Alex going to the work truck and using some kind of substance. I assume something illegal since they seemed to sneak off every couple of hours together. I am a drug abuse counselor of over 30 years. Very unsafe to operate under the influence. I don't recommend having these guys work at your home. I had my grand children at my home at the time of service and their language made me sick, I had to take my grand children and leave my own home. I asked multiple times that they please keep the bad language to themselves. I was scared for myself and my grand children. When I called to speak with their boss with my concerns, I spoke with Marshall, who was extremely dismissive of my concerns and yelled at me and called me a liar. I am 68 years old. You should all learn some work ethic and some respect, especially for your elders. Shame on you all. The owner seems pretty upset with my review and has been threatening me since I put it up that he will sue and call a lawyer etc. there has been no attempt to resolve the issue or even a simple apology- just threats. Makes me regret my decision of using them over any other company even more. read more

I needed a dead tree taken down, and another one on my property trimmed. The dead one was tricky as it was very close to power lines. Oakes responded promptly to my call and gave me an estimate that beat their competitor by hundreds of dollars, so I engaged them. The work was done expertly and the team did everything I asked and even cleaned up the yard nicer than it was and left us with some firewood, seeing that we had a fire pit. Cost was exactly as promised and I found the crew to be friendly and respectful. I would recommend them for fast, competent, tidy work. WARNING! ....ZERO STARS!!! This is the most disrespectful, unprofessional crew I've ever come across. I gave my neighbor permission to have Oaks crew come on my property to enable them to reach HIS tree that was leaning into my yard, with the understanding that no heavy equipment would be used, and that they were just going to be touching my neighbor's tree. Before I was able to get out there to stop them, they had cut limbs off my trees that they said were in the way, had heavy equipment on my property leaving ruts, and climbing one of my trees with spiked shoes, leaving sizable holes in my tree. THEY DID NOT HAVE PERMISSION TO DO ANY OF THAT!!! They also let the tree they were taking down swing into my tree and break more branches. They did not even get down when I told them to get off my property. I HAD TO CALL THE POLICE!!! They had all sorts of excuses, and disrespected me and totally disregarded my requests , even in front of the officer. I can never get those tree limbs back. Now the corner of my woods looks bare. Totally altered my yard. They had to be told by the officer to pick up the limbs from the neighbor's tree, which they said they shouldn't have to because they had fallen before they got there. Of course they left the mess of what they cut off of my trees.....so I do have proof! Their salesman or workers should have ASKED PERMISSION DIRECTLY WITH ME, and discussed with me what they wanted to do on my property BEFORE THEY ENTERED THE PROPERTY!!! SO UNPROFESSIONAL, INCONSIDERATE, AND ILLEGAL!!! I will be seeking legal action! read more
