I'm usually very anxious at the dentist but my experience was lowkey life changing. Going into my consultation I thought I was cooked. I get really anxious at the dentist. Both the office staff and doctor were really welcoming and friendly. I told the Doctor that I might get anxious on the day of treatment, he answered all my questions and sent a prescription to my pharmacy On the day of treatment, the staff were nice as always. To be honest, the whole team had so much aura I wasn't even that anxious going into the treatment. Chair and glasses were both comfortable, I even fell asleep for basically the whole time which is crazy work because I'm usually really anxious. Dr was kind, informative, educated, personable and did a great job. They also sent the paperwork over to my dentist without me having to facilitate anything. 10/10 would reccomend to anyone. I had a root canal fail and had to have it checked. I chose Alameda-Oakland Endodontics for my care. I happen to get Dr. Nabipour who as an Endodontis is top notch. His assistant got me in to start the CBCT scan and X-rays needed. Sat me down and Dr. Nabipour did the diagnostics and found the issue. Within an hour was able to get out the old post, clear the infection, repack the area and sealed it permanently. Excellent work. Getting a root canal is not supposed to be this enjoyable:-} The front of house team of Mattie and Angelica work together to set the tone, and immediately lower the anxiety level. Jessica provided excellent, responsive care during the procedure. The technical skills of Dr. Calvert are matched by an amazingly light touch. When he said a 'little pinch' he delivered, and his bed-side manner throughout the entire root canal process made the experience calming and reassuring. (This same review applies equally to Dr. Naibpour, who did a similar procedure last year.) I had an initial consultation with Unes and was extremely dismayed by our interaction. I have Delta dental and had to pay a co-pay of $120 for the initial consultation. I waited approximately 30-40 minutes and met with Unes for no more than 10 minutes. He said I had some bone loss but believed he could try to save the tooth. He asked if I had questions and I said no. He then began to walk out of the room. I was surprised and asked what the next steps were. He spoke from the door to the back of my head and said that I could decide what I wanted to do. I asked for his recommendation and he said it's my decision. It was very confusing and he didn't provide any information for this situation that is new to me. I still don't know if this is urgent for me or my options. The exchange was so unsettling that I mentioned it to the dentist that referred me. Later, I began getting calls from his office that I owe an additional $18 and that they sent me letters/invoices and if I didn't pay they would start collection services on me. I'm traveling and I am surprised to receive another bill from them. Wow! It's clear to me that they don't care about their patients. I will never go back there and please be careful with that doctor. No one wishes to need a root canal. If you do, best to wish that Dr Calvert is in your network. I have twice sat in his chair. He welcomes and answers all questions. I was a new patient here and had to get a root canal. I heard so many nightmares stories about the procedure and although they aren't pleasant, I had a a good experience here. Kat and Angelica were very helpful with getting my paperwork together and Monica was great in making me as comfortable as possible. I went in telling them I was paying out of pocket since my insurance did not cover the consultation. They charged me $350 just for the consultation in which the dentist UNES NABIPOUR, DDS did not do anything other than tell me I didn't need a root canal. My dentist sent over the X-rays from her office. A year later they sent me to a debt collection for $62 saying they did a root canal and my insurance did not over the cost of the procedure. I never had any root canal at that office! Very unprofessional, I will never go there again. They scammed me by saying I will pay for the consultation then adding services I never receive to have me pay for more. read more

Dr. Calvert is the best! Back in 2019 he put a "temporary" crown on a back molar after doing a root canal. Due to a variety of circumstances, I left the crown alone until it finally cracked off a couple of months ago. After a filling on the other side also cracked (and still lacking a regular dentist), I hightailed it to Dr. Calvert. He determined what will be needed to repair the new and old problems and helped me prioritize treatment. His staff was very helpful both in squeezing me into the schedule and in sending the x-rays over to my new dentist (Dr Maria Pham, Singleton Smile Dental). read more

Who likes going to the dentist, let alone endodontist? I have the absolute biggest debilitating fear of the dentist. I hadn't gone in a couple years and unfortunately had to pay the price very late one evening when I woke up with tooth pain. Turned out I needed a root canal re-treatment due to decay under an old crown which caused a pretty decent sized infection. I was referred here by my dentist Dr.Amy Lee. I reached out and was able to be seen the following day. Not only was the staff super sweet and helpful but they went above and beyond helping me out with scheduling as I have two babies and was very limited on when I could come in for an appointment. Dr.Monzavi is absolutely amazing! Very gentle, kind and helpful. He was very thorough in explaining every step of the process from beginning to end. The dental assistant (I'm so sorry I forgot her name) is a god send. She held my hand and comforted me through my appointment. The whole appointment took about an hour and a half at most. I brought headphones to help drown out the noise. The only pain / discomfort was the numbing shot. And they did a great job distracting me so it wasn't too bad. Recovery was pretty quick after the numbness went away. Around the same time I developed horrible TMJ as a side effect from a medication. I mistook this for tooth pain and again Dr.Monzavi and his team walked me through the entire process explaining exactly what's going on, how to address and correct the problems I was facing. I am waiting for my second session in a couple weeks to get this re-treatment completed. So we'll see how that goes. The building is on a Main Street, easy to locate and bonus off street parking. After some extensive testing Dr. Calvert isolated one tooth that was causing the problem and suggested a root canal would be the best solution. I was referred Oakland-Alameda Endodontics for a root canal. I was pleased by the staff when I called to schedule. During my visit Camille Dr. Nabipour's assistant was amazing. She was very kind and gentle with me. She made sure I was comfortable at all times. Dr. Nabipour seemed nice to me. He explained everything to me and made sure my pain was under control. I did not like the way he spoke to his assistant. He was condescending. It made me extremely uncomfortable. I felt so bad for Camille. I would never let anyone I work with or for speak to me the way he spoke to her. I'd be livid if one of my young adult children had a boss speak to them that way. He definitely abuses his power. Guess who enjoyed their trip to the dentist? I did, guys. I had to have retreatment done on a crowned tooth--basically I had an infection so the tooth had to be cleaned out--and I was referred to Dr. Calvert by my regular dentist at Park Family Dental. Dr. Calvert and his assistant, Diane, were so great. For realsies! Diane was kind and thorough prior to each appointment as well as after. She explained everything, made sure I was comfortable and was respectful of my white-coat anxiety. Dr. Calvert was also very professional, ensured I didn't feel even the slightest bit of anything even close to pain and was very encouraging during the entire process. Hell, even the ladies at the front desk were on top of their customer service game--explaining my insurance limits, scheduling, and keeping the front office clean and sanitary, because, you know, COVID-19. Everyone wore a mask at all times (even me until it was procedure time). This office and its staff earned ALL the stars! Every. Single. One. I had a very unusual tooth problem. I had a lot of pain in my upper and lower jaw which was confusing to me because I couldn't tell what was causing the problem. I went to see my dentist and she did some testing and isolated one tooth in particular which was very painful. She referred me to Oakland Alameda Endodontics. I saw Dr. Jason Calvert in Alameda. I was very nervous at first because I've had a lot of dental procedures, some of them quite painful. Sonia, Dr. Calvert's dental assistant did X-rays and prepared me for the doctor. Everyone in the office was really nice and I felt comfortable. I immediately felt at ease with Dr. Calvert. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. He explained everything he was going to do and what it would feel like. He first tested the teeth on the upper left side of my mouth. He told me if he didn't have a clear indication of what the problem was he would not do the procedure. After much testing and a 3D X-ray he narrowed the problem down to1 tooth. He was pretty sure that a root canal would take care of the problem and the pain I was experiencing. After being numbed for the procedure, which Dr. Calvert explained completely, he began the work. I basically felt nothing, other than a little discomfort from having my mouth open for about 45min. When Dr. Calvert was done with the procedure he told me what to expect when I went home. I had some pain that evening, but I was able to take some Tylenol and use a warm compress. I had no trouble sleeping that evening and the next day I did not need any pain medication and no compress. It's been 3 days now and my tooth feels great. I also have to thank Sonia, Dr. Calvert's dental assistant for being very supportive and reassuring during the procedure. This was the best outcome for a root canal that I have ever experienced. read more

I recently had a root canal operation performed by Dr. Unes Nabipour. I can honestly say that, if there were such a thing as a "perfect root canal" operation, I had an exceptional session in which I did not feel much discomfort throughout the entire process. In fact, no pain at all. Ironically, the only time I experienced any pain was during the taking of X-rays where the corners of the plastic "film" piece hurt my lower pallet. I'll keep it short. Dr. Nabipour performed a root canal just a few hours ago as I write this. No pain at all and I was sweating that as I had one decades ago that was brutal. Tech has improved immensely since then anc he uses a machine that cost $80,000 that insures the canal are perfectly clean before getting sealed. I just completed my Root Canal treatment with Dr. Nabipour and I can honestly say this has been the BEST procedure I have EVER experienced. This was my 3rd (yes, you read that correctly) root canal procedure on the same tooth. The 1st one was okay, but I needed a follow up procedure about 2 years later because of some lingering pain. The 2nd procedure was EXTREMELY painful, and the recovery was even worse. All around terrible AND the lingering pain was never resolved. But after a few years and still experiencing that lingering pain, I finally found this wonderful office. The front office staff (Christina) is absolutely kind and friendly, and Dr. Nabipour was extremely detailed with explaining the Root Canal procedure for me. Not to mention the assistants during the procedure were extremely accommodating and helpful. It was a two part procedure, and after my 1st visit I literally did not experience any pain other than soreness for maybe the first day or two. The recovery was painless for me, especially after having such a painful experience with my previous endodontist. Are there any words more dreaded at the dentist then "you need a root canal"? Not only that I needed one, but that I needed a specialist to do it! How messed up is that tooth? Apparently a lot. My general dentist recommended Oakland-Alameda Endodontics. I immediately checked out their reviews and was reassured. Like most people, I hate going to the dentist, especially for something like this. Called and made my appointment and it was a pleasant enough experience. When I went in for my appointment, the front desk and dental assistant were very nice and professional. Into the chair. Dr. Nabipour came in, took a look around, then some x-rays. Because of a complex medical condition, he couldn't do the procedure that day and needed to consult with my physicians. He contacted them, worked everything out and a couple of days later I went back. Dr. Nabipour got right to work. You know that feeling you get when someone knows exactly what they're doing? Like a great auto mechanic or plumber? That's Dr. Nabipour in my mouth. Fast, efficient and painless (except for the first shot). A bonus is that have great toys. Like the microscope to look at his work, the digital x-rays, and the headphones and glasses for the patient. Just get the feeling that they want everything to be first class. A couple of days after the root canal, Dr. Nabipour called personally to make sure everything was OK. No front office person or assistant here. Really first class dental care all the way, If you need endodontic care, these guys are the way to go. read more

Dr. Panella is great. I came in for a consult and they just went ahead and were able to do my root canal right then and there, no fuss, no muss. It took 45 minutes. It seems that he has done this 100 gazillion times and his calm precise manner made this root canal a walk in the park. They will give you a little radio and headphones and eye shades to let you pretend all this isn't happening to you. It was fine. I had a 7:45 appointment and was at work by 9:15. Easy peasy. Dr Nabipour was wonderful - kind, confident, and experienced. I have a tricky mouth, as I've been through oral cancer, and I'm a nervous patient, probably because of what my mouth and I have endured! The other day I had to get my first root canal in over two years. I was referred to Dr. Nabipour from my husbands dentist. I was taken in late in the day. I was in serious pain but they could only work on me for an hour since it was already around 5p.m, but they took me in anyways. I came back to get everything finished a day later and after enduring an hour or so in hell even after pain numbing medication was used. I was in much less pain after everything was finished. That was yesterday and today my right side is still just a little sore, but I'm almost back to normal. He is good and fast. They accept most dental insurance. I'm so glad that he was able to get me in at the last minute! Although they did a great job, I hope I won't have to see him anytime soon! My tooth is still in good shape - but an amazing thing happened - I got a refund! As with all MD offices they estimate what your insurance will pay and I wrote them a check for the difference. I guess insurance paid for more than they thought, and they refunded the difference before my insurance company sent a statement to me! Not having to deal with asking for a refund - bumps these people up to 5 stars - good doctor - ethical office practices! YAY read more

Dr. Nabipour is super professional and doesn't try to talk to you about your day while knuckle deep in your mouth. The other staff there is also nice and very professional.
