Yesterday I went in for a root canal and was dreading it because any dental procedure scares me. However, Dr. Hamid and Stephany were amazing. First when I walked in the treatment area I noticed that they were listening to Reggae music which I love given that I was petrified inside. Stephany was so kind and patient while I nervously took my jewelry off to do X-rays. She set me up and made sure I was comfortable. When Dr. Hamid walked in he introduced himself and asked me what was going on and gave me the opportunity to voice my concerns and answer any questions. He numbed me up, cracked a joke that made me chuckle and then soon after they started on the procedure. Both of them were so kind and checked on me frequently. I appreciated the work they did and how painless it was. Thank you to all the staff I interacted with from the front desk staff to Stephany and Dr. Hamid. Hopefully I won't have to be back soon for more dental work but if I do I will definitely come back soon. Recently, I had a horrible experience with "EndoCare Group" in Alameda CA and I feel the need to let the people AKA the readers know what went down. On June 17th, 2026 at 9:30 A.M I had my first and last appointment with them, EVER! It is shameful that I have to write a review such as this, but I am done being silent and allowing these ableist businesses act however they want, discriminate against individuals with disabilities, and dehumanize our existence. I will not allow these people to continue to mistreat its patrons like they mistreated me. I will not! let them get away with this. I am physically disabled and because of that I was treated as if I did not have a mind of my own and I could not speak for myself. I was essentially treated as if I was an invalid. Little do they know I am a public speaker, motivational speaker, a writer, a poet, an actress and a disabled activist just to name a few and there's so much more to me. I am multi- faceted; but all they saw was my disability and minimized my existence to a wheelchair as if that's all I am. I don't take kindly to disrespect and I will not allow these people, the two individuals that were assigned to work with me think that the treatment and discrimination that was displayed is OK! Because it was NOT! The mistreatment started from the word go! From the lobby, I entered into the back office, before going into a room they wanted to take some X-Rays, they asked if I can stand, I quickly responded telling them that I could not. We eventually figured it out. There was no standing required and that's great! But what I didon my ownnot like during that exchange is when they would ask me a question they would look over to the individual that was there with me to get confirmation. As if I could not answer on my own. That was extremely dismissive and that treatment did not stop there. Once I went into the office where the procedure took place; I had a Root Canal, they actually job! I will not take that away from them, but the way I was talked to after it was all said and done was unnecessary, uncalled for and unprofessional. There was a young woman that remained in the room with me and referred to me as a CHILD. I brought up to her that I noticed how they would address the person that was with me instead of addressing me and that young woman had the audacity to tell me they would prefer to talk to the parents when it is involving a child and that would be ok if I were a child. I am a 40 year old WOMAN! In that moment, although I was belittled, I chose not to respond. She took my silence for weakness and that's where she messed up. This right here is my response and this is all the response I need In conclusion: If you are physically disabled and you are thinking about becoming a client of "EndoCare Group", I would advise you not to. Your disability automatically makes them think you do not have the CAPACITY to make decisions on your own. With this being my personal experience; I am certain that there are other disabled people that have been treated the same way. Lastly, should you ignore my warning and try them out anyway, please be aware, stay on your toes, stay informed and don't accept their disrespect. read more

I've had to have two root canals at the last minute and both times it was among my best experiences in a dental office. Everyone in this office is kind, helpful, and patient from the moment you walk in the door and are greeted by the front desk team. Dr. Hamid is an amazing endodontist and he takes a lot of pride in his work. I cry a lot once I get into any medical office out of extreme anxiety, and Dr. Hamid and Stephany gave me tissues and let me calm down for as long as I needed. If you have to ever get a root canal (hopefully you don't) I highly recommend coming here. read more

Had a very good experience at Endocare in Alameda with Dr. Shah. I had to get some help with an infected tooth, and they were able to take care of it right away. The facility is very modern and well equipped with everything needed including xray equipment in the room. Dr. Shah and staff were highly organized and efficient in their work, and my problem was solved in short order. High praise all around. Do be aware that there is no dedicated parking at the facility so you will need to plan ahead. read more

Let me preface my review by stating unequivocally... I hate going to the dentist. My dentist, Dr Kent, sent me to Dr. Sheila Patwardhan for a root canal. Dr Kent was fairly certain that I had a cracked tooth under a crown on one of my back teeth but felt Dr. Patwardhan was the best person to determine what was happening with the tooth and to save it if possible. Dr. Patwardhan tried her best to save the tooth but it was way beyond saving. Such is life, right? But, and there is always a but, the thing that really got me was Dr. Patwardhan's compassion. She, like Dr Kent, really cares about her patients. And, that was the best part of having the root canal done. While I hope I never have to see Dr. Patwardshan again, I highly recommend her to anyone who is having oral issues. She is great! read more

I had a great experience years ago here but not this time - male dr was rough and I was in more pain when I left then before and at least 6 days afterwards . He decided to do a permanent filling without consulting me - which didnt happen the last time . Even though my dentist asked for a temp. One They claim they nvr received instructions from my dentist - why not confirm with me or the dentist the day of ? Because your trying to get more money !!! That's why! They sent me a random invoice a month after my treatment- no call - no email - just due amount - after I paid all this money that they asked for at the appt. When I called turns out - my insurance didnt cover this permanent filling- the same one they chose to be on their own. When I explained- they just said you agreed - I did not !!! They nvr asked and went against what my dentist requested. Be careful what paperwork you fill out here- they are trying to get more money out of you by doing things unnecessary to your mouth. Also -now I need a retreat on the original work ?!? Why?? I've been taking top tier care of my teeth btw - I just don't trust them. They seem good and nice but you will have to go back and they may send you random bills months after your appt. read more

worst experience of my life. So painful and 3 hours later, I was in so much pain I had a panic attack and fled the office. These people thought they weren't going to get paid and he chased me to my car, pushed me, and stole my keys. They already had the delta dental payment ok'd, so how would they not get paid? And what professional screams at you to stop moving after three hours in the same position? There was no description of what he was doing--ever--he was totally unconcerned about how much discomfort I was in. I don't know where he went to dental school certainly not in the USA. read more

I've never had a root canal. I've only heard how unpleasant they can be. I was referred by my dentist to EndoCare in Alameda for a troublesome tooth, but I had been there years before for a review. I called and was able to get an appointment within a matter of days. The team, led by Dr. Hamid, had me in and out in the specified time. The team let me know it was like having a filling, that just lasted longer and they were correct. There was very little pain, and that was only from the shots as the start, so very, very minimal. The mouth guard in my mouth kept it open, saving me the strain of having to do it. All my concerns & fears about having a root canal were removed from this experience with Dr. Hamid and the team at EndoCare. Prior to my appointment, I was given the estimate for my portion, in the event a root canal was needed and that's what I paid on my way out the door. I can now chew on that side of my mouth, drink hot/cold liquids without sensitivity, and now just need to work with my Dentist to get the crown. read more

I went here for root canal surgery. From the front office, assistants and the doctor, they were professional, knowledgeable and polite.

They are really dishonest on the billing, when they told me the payment is a certain amount and will be cheaper if I chose another treatment but ended up with a higher price then they told me system had some issues. And then 2 months later I received a bill saying my insurance paid less than expected and they told me they couldn't check it earlier. They are liars and if u check on the comments, I'm not the only one had this kind of scam, horrible and ill never recommend this clinic read more

I had a root canal on Dec 27, 2024. The dentist, Dr Patwardhan, did the procedure. It was the most painful experience Ive ever had. She had zero chairside manner, instead choosing to chat with her assistant. The office also said they needed to charge me an additional $255, for the use of a laser. I have great insurance through Delta Dental, and they told me the laser should have been covered. Delta needed a procedure code. The office stated that they dont have a procedure code for the laser service. I filed a grievance with Delta, against EndoCare Group and WON. I am now getting my $255 back. They should never have charged me. Beware, folks. Not only was the procedure ridiculously painful, but they should NOT have charged me $255. I will never return there, and you should look elsewhere as well. read more

It's important to trust health care provider / office and I didn't have a good experience here and think others should beware. There was a billing/service issue, while it was small, it was dishonest and I imagine many of these situations add up. I can share details with whoever is considering patronizing this business. They may do good root canals (I didn't end up needed one) and I love local businesses thriving but I have to support those with ethics. I'm still hoping they send me a denial of the claim they submitted so I could have ease with following-up with my insurance but they refuse so it appears they are happy considering this case closed since they have money from me. I paid before seeing for procedure I thought I'd need since the dentist was running so late. Upon leaving, they shared they'd send confirmation of reimbursment through the mail but instead I got a bill for procedures not performed and charge for covered benefit. I know my insurance, this business even confirmed and sent what I could expect to pay out of pocket before coming but felt entitled to keep my overpayment. I know these are tough times for some and businesses included but these practices are just not okay. I don't know if it's worth the time to take actions to get money owed from this office but at least through this review other people can beware and choose wisely. I came trusting my dentist (but he also disclosed, they send his office chocolates each year). I will now be a bit more skeptical of referrals from professionals and consider more people with first hand experiences. read more

I received excellent care from Rocio and Dr. Patwardhan during my root canal procedure. I thought the process would be long and painful, but I was pleasantly surprised at how smoothly it went. It was no worse than getting a cavity filled (actually better). The only complaint is that my neck is still sore some days later because the chair didn't offer good neck support and I was inadvertently straining it during the procedure. Referred by my "MAGICAL" dentist, EndoCare Alameda handled an emergency root canal (is there any other kind?) with no notice and accommodated my commute from the North Bay. From the time I arrived (in pain) until 4 hours later when my procedure was done, the staff and dentists were amazing. We joked and laughed as much as we could. Ok. Pros: - They got me in quick. I self-referred and explained the pain I was experiencing so they got me in right at opening the next day. - It was a mostly painless procedure besides the local anesthetic shot at the beginning. - Quick procedure for 3 root canals ~1 hr total - They were responsive to my pain during the procedure - Post-op when the pain was so unbearable, they saw me without an appointment to inspect my teeth and pain for free. They ended up prescribing me antibiotics which I appreciated. It would've been more ideal to get the antibiotics before the procedure to lessen the pain I suffered during it... but again, it was short-notice. Cons: - Expensive. Surely it depends on your coverage, but with my insurance covering 1500 I still had to pay ~2k for 3 root canals. Many of my friends with similar insurance only had to pay 200-300 for their root canals at different offices where mine came out to ~650 each. - They have you sign consent forms etc. AFTER your gums have been anesthetized which I found questionable. It's local anesthesia, but your mouth is so numb that it is mentally distracting and you can't respond properly. - Felt a little rushed before and after the procedure. I don't feel like I got a good, thorough explanation for things. When the endodontist was explaining different options I could get (after anesthesia) such as whitening or gentle wave and I asked about the additional costs, he kept stating he didn't deal with the costs. So why did they just hand me the bill initially and not explain any of these add-ons and costs. My bad for not asking at reception I guess? Could be my fault due to being such a short-notice appointment. - I had a "hot tooth" aka one that was so inflamed that it hurt throughout the rest of the procedure. It radiated through my whole body and I could feel some of the drilling and tools. They were initially responsive to my pain and gave me more anesthetic shots/some cooling, numbing gel? but it didn't make a difference so they changed their tone to saying that pain was normal. I sort of wish they spent more time explaining what was going on and reassuring me. I ended up sobbing in my car afterwards from the pain and being in EPIC pain for 3 days despite norco around the clock. - I had contacted them on several different occasions for my report and itemized billing but had to go back in person to receive it. They delayed so much on emailing me which confounded me when they were so fast to get me in for my appointment... Overall, I think the experience was ok. I'm sure it would've been MUCH better if things were scheduled in advance instead of next day procedure and same day consultation/procedure. They have nice technology (at a price), a clean office, seem mostly caring and professional. Some things I found sketchy that I'm seeing in other reviews but I can't compare since I've never had a root canal before. Almost a week out and I'm feeling painless and my teeth look good, so they got the job done successfully. read more

I got scheduled over a month and a half elsewhere after being referred for a root canal by my dentist. I was tired of the pain, so decided to call these folks just to see if they could get me in sooner (plus they are in my insurance network). They got me an appointment that same day! A few hours later I was at the office getting my root canal done by Dr. Patwardhan and her awesome assistant. It was quick and easy, and they even came in under the estimated cost. I went through a referral and my dentist had already taken x-rays however the doctor discarded them and retook the x-ray as well as CT scan. They performed root canal on the wrong teeth!! This is my first visit here. I was impressed by their professionalism, particularly, the staff called me ahead of time to inform me the potential out of pocket cost as well as I was notified when I could come in slightly earlier than my appointment. I met Dr. Patwardhan, who answered all of my questions, including what she can and cannot treat for my teeth. She was even explain the potential treatment I have to get at another office, elaborated on the different treatment outcomes after a teeth extraction. While numbing my gum, the assistant was asking me whether I would like to listen any music while we were waiting, which I was quite surprised that this clinic was even offer such suggestion. During my re-treatment, she asked me about whether I was comfortable. I like how this clinic provides Rubber Dam that reduces irritation and discomfort from getting small particles in my mouth. In the end, the front desk staff also explained the most appropriate timing for my follow-up visit, providing Ibuprofen in case I need it. Root canal. Horror. My past experiences have been unfortunate, mainly because of my lack of personal dental hygiene over the years. So my lovely dentist, Dr. Laura Lawson, referred me to Endo Care and suggested I see Dr. Patwardhan. A Harvard cum laude dental graduate with Certfcate in Endodontal care from Tuffs, she was absolutely great. Pre exam, Dr. Patwardhan laid it straight to me, the tooth might be cracked, meaning it would have to be retracted if not she would preform a root canal and try to save it. We go for it! Gentle and almost painlessly she drilled and filed her way to the infection. There was a slight rotten smell, which Dr. Patwardhan remarked, "I know I've hit the right spot!" Funny to me and I'm thrilled with her work and humor! Dr. Patwardhan Is certainly the best! BTW, I saw a one star Yelp from someone who came there the same day. Infact, I think I held the door open for her. I sorry she didn't have same five star experience I did. Anyway, everyone has their right to express their own Yelps. read more

The Dentist was good. Office assistants were bad. First visit I paid $1878. Scheduled the second visit. They give me an estimate for my second visit, which was $402. One day before my appointment and they called and give me an estimate of $1,200. I told them to cancel my appointment, because the estimate was totally different from the $402 estimate. Two hours later they called back and the estimate was $402, because they made a mistake. Went to my second appointment and paid $402, and I asked about my balance. The manager said you have a balance of $0. Two months later I received an invoice for $604. On 12/30/24 I went to talk to the office and confronted them about my invoice. They told me the manager is not here, and we can not help you with the invoice. During the second appointment one of the office assistant claimed that she was the manager. They are not very honest. Should have gone to another Dentist. I have called the BBB about their practices, and I also have E-mailed Channel 7 on my side. read more

I had two root canals done here side by side. The first root canal the doctor worked on for one and a half hours and then she said she couldn't locate the third root and she need to stop and would complete the job on another day. A few days later with my tooth hurting, the entire time, I was back in the chair and she finished the root canal after another hour. Total time to complete the job, two and a half hours. The second tooth I was told would easier as there were only two roots to contend with. With a different doctor doing the dental work, I was in and out in one and a half hours. 48 hours later I was still experiencing an uncomfortable amount of pain. I called the office requesting some prescription pain medication and was told my doctor would get back in touch with me that afternoon or the next morning. He never did and no one in the office followed up until 2 days later. By then I was able to manage the pain with over the counter meds. read more

I loved this office. Is it possible to love getting root canals? I arrived with two very marginal teeth and a serious history of bad TMJ reactions to even slight torquing of my jaw and/or pressure on my teeth, often made much worse by having to open my jaw too wide for too long. In the past, sometimes the severe TMJ pain had lasted up to a year. Dr. Patwardhan listened carefully and respectfully to my experience and requests, and proceeded to do root canals on my two adjacent teeth the same day. She helped me choose a course of treatment I felt good about. I probably was in the chair for two hours, but she was kind and gentle and funny. Afterward I had absolutely zero jaw pain, and in fact was then able to tolerate another long visit another day to my regular dentist to get crowns made and installed. Again, no jaw pain afterward, and none since. I would highly recommend this dentist and her staff. All of them were delightful. read more

I've had a tooth bothering me whenever I'd bite down on it after I got a cavity filled in it about 2 months ago. Ever since then, I wasn't able to chew on that side AT ALL. I saw another endodontist first and he said I didn't need a root canal and sent me on my way with no help at all. I made an appointment here because I could not tolerate the bothersome tooth any longer. I called and the receptionist fit me in for only 2 days away! And even better, she made a slot for me that was the consultation and treatment in the same appointment! They did their routine and said it was up to me if I felt I needed a root canal because my symptoms were borderline in need of a root canal or not. My husband and I decided I did need one and the staff were more than happy to treat me. During the procedure, I didn't feel a thing! They checked in on me a couple times during the procedure to make sure I was comfortable and not in pain, which I appreciated. After a few days recovering, my tooth no longer hurt at all and I was finally able to chew on both sides of my mouth without any pain for the first time in over 2 months! Wow, these people are miracle workers! I worked with doctor Yassie, who was amazing. I was dreading my procedure at Endo Care Group because I've had nothing but miserable experiences with dentists. But, I was blown away by their professionalism, high quality equipment, and skilled work! Although I hope to never have to come to Endo Care Group again, I won't be as nervous nor dread my experience if there happens to be a next time. I went to Endo Care because I had a broken tooth which needed attention. I received very good care and treatment from Dr. Hamid. However, when I received my statement from Delta Dental, I noted that the bill I had paid on the day of treatment was $200 more than the statement balance from Delta Dental. When I called and asked about the difference, I was informed that Endo Care had charged me $200 for a CT scan that was not covered. My complaint is that Endo Care walked me into the CT scan machine without discussing the cost with me, or whether the procedure was covered. If you go to Endo Care, be sure to discuss all procedures they are recommending, and check whether your insurance covers the procedures or not. read more

I had one of the worst dental care experiences of my life at EndoCare. I felt hustled, as if I were buying a used car, and the goal was to separate me from my money as smoothly as possible. Interactions with the staff seemed designed to limit my ability to make informed medical and financial decisions. I have never felt so traumatized in a medical facility, as I did at EndoCare. Upon arriving to my appointment, I was asked to fill out some paperwork and was brought back into the procedure room. Dr. Dadvand was the attending doctor. I was immediately uncomfortable with her bedside manner. I was treated like a number in her docket of appointments. I was reclined in the chair and had a bib and sunglasses put on my. I was then administered several shots of novocaine. Both of the injections were incredibly painful. Subsequently, I was in a traumatized and altered state from the numbness, pain and medication. My situation was complicated by an abscess below the tooth. And Dr Dadvand mentioned that she wanted to wait for the abscess to heal before finalizing the procedure. There was no discussion of the financial implications of such a plan, and I was under the impression that I was still having a standard root canal. After the shots Dadvand left the room and one of the receptionists entered saying, "This is your cost", and had me sign a handful of papers. By this time I had lost much of my cognitive capacity. I was traumatized by the unusually painful injection and could not feel half of my face. I still had the dark glasses on and could not even see the paperwork clearly. There was no discussion of costs with the now absent Dadvand. And no attempt was made to assist me in understanding the financial ramifications of the situation. Nor was I in a clear enough state of mind to ask the right questions. Once the receptionist had my signatures, she left, and the absent Dr. Dadvand was suddenly back in the room to carry out the procedure. I was given consciousness altering drugs and then asked to sign forms authorizing an increase in treatment cost while in a cognitively challenged state. Really? Later I realized I had authorized a $850 cost increase, I felt like I had been date-raped. Even the next day follow-up call from the receptionist was pretty lame. She asked how I was doing - but had only one response in her repertoire - no matter what I said. "Oh, I'm sorry" was her canned response. I told her that I'd never had a root canal before, so I didn't really have any thing to compare my experience to. Her response, "Oh, I'm sorry". Did she actually hear anything that I had said? I could almost see her filing her nails and snapping her gum as she read through her script. A couple weeks later, I had the second part of the procedure performed at their Alameda office with Dr. Shinbori. I was more comfortable with Dr. Shinbori who had a more personable manner. But unfortunately for me, the same sequence of events unfolded. I was taken into a private room, bibbed, sunglassed, and given multiple shots of novocaine. Once again, in an altered, vulnerable state, with my face completely numb, the doctor again left the room and the receptionist came in to have me sign financial and consent forms while I was in a cognitively challenged state. I am disturbed by this established set of office protocols. After being injected with drugs and put into a compromised and vulnerable state, the doctor leaves the room while the receptionist comes in and presses me to sign financial documents. Did they learn this at a Guantanamo Bay sales workshop? What if upon reading the forms, I decided that I did not want to go through with the procedure? Unfortunately, multiple injections of novocaine have already been administered, and the procedure has been initiated. I was subjected to this sequence of events not once, but twice, so it was not just a bad day at the office. At best, this is a disturbing oversight of my right to make thoughtful financial decisions. At worst, the protocol actually seemed designed to limit my ability to make thoughtful decisions. When I wrote a letter and sent an email to the office describing my experience, the response was pathetic. Their "Practice Manager" responded with a voicemail saying she would be out of town for a week and would mail a reply. A few days later I received a bundle of photocopied bills and forms and nothing else. There was no indication that any of my concerns regarding their ethically questionable protocols had been heard at all. I just had my first root canal ever at the alameda office. Dr. Patwardhan was amazing throughout the process, as was her dental assistant Diane.
