    The crack in the light switch panel that was NOT there before

    So let me start by saying I'm 35 years old- I've been coming here since I was 15. Brought them my very first car to have alarm installed. Ever since then I'm been a loyal customer. Not only that but I own an auto repair shop in Alameda, and have referred ALL my customers to these guys for their audio needs. Now, moving forward to 2024 I brought in my most recent purchase to them to have an auto start installed. The car I bought was in MINT condition. It's a 1993 GMC typhoon, if you don't know about them do some research. They are extremely rare, and parts for them are extremely expensive. Anyways there's not a single crack in the dash, not in the leather, the paint is immaculate, it's a time capsule. Fresh from the 90's. So I bring it to them and since I already have a viper alarm installed the mechanic who I dropped the car off to tells me it will be 150$ to add the remote start option. Ok cool, he tells me 1.5-2hrs should be ready. I leave and come back exactly 2 hours later. (As usual) the car isn't ready yet. Now I own a shop, and I know how it is blah blah blah. My issue with this whole thing is it's an every time thing, either they can't gauge how long jobs will take or they make it seem like it takes longer then it does to squeeze some more money out of ya. Which brings me to my next problem. I wait an extra 42 minutes, while all the prostitues in the area scour my car incase that might be what I'm doing hanging around in their area. But atlas, my car is ready and I go to pay, oh no what's that?? It will cost 300$?!? But I was told it was only going to be 150$?? "Well it took extra time blah blah blah" (it's literally the same story EVERYTIME) which is what leads me to believe the whole taking extra time thing is all BS. Anyways I pay the hefty fee even though I never agreed to it and there was never any sort of contract signed (obviously shady business dealings) and get in my car and leave. Only the next morning I notice something that was never - and I'm 4020101773% sure about this, NEVER there prior to the remote start being installed. A crack in my dashboard area right by the headlight switch. So I called them back the next day and asked what happened. He OFCOURSE denies any wrong doing even though I just bought the car and inspected almost every inch of it and admired how the dash board wasn't cracked AT ALL which was amazing to me for a car this old. So he ask the mechanic how did the work and he says "no ofcourse I didn't break that, infact I had no reason to even go near that all my work was under the dash!" Ok maybe so, either way the crack wasn't there and now it is. Anyways I decided to remove the panel (the correct way) and see if there was any reason for him to go back there and guess what?! Yup you guessed it! There's a brand new harness that isn't OEM that is running behind the light switch. So looks like there was infact a reason for you to go behind there. (See attached picture) As a business owner myself, it truely doesn't make sense to deny and no own up to this time of bull crap because of the sheer volume of customers I can and have referred to you not to mention the countless cars of my own that I brought to you (and ALL of my previous ex girlfriends cars as well!) So as much as I hate to do it I will be referring all my customers else where and if they ask I will have to break the news to them. You didn't want to own up to replacing a 35$ headlight switch panel that you broke. Thanks for showing your true colors -Alex (with the white typhoon)

    I have been shopping for a new car stereo for my 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. When I came across Oakland Hi-Fi. Ray gave me a great price on a new stereo, but after talking for a while he recommended a Pioneer 4500NEX because I have a media, DVD, and CD player not to mention the steering wheel controls too. The installation went smoothly and everything works great. I can still use my steering wheel controls like it came right out of the factory. I plan on doing audio and alarm upgrades and Ray is where I'm going to have installed. Shout out to Salvador lead technician with 30 years of experience and his helper too. If you are looking for an upgrade at a reasonable price stop by Oakland Hi-Fi!

    I have to admit, I am extremely disappointed in this place and hate leaving bad reviews but I wanna warn folks right now. If you find an issue, or end up stuck in the mountains because the alarm system bugs out and shuts your vehicle down be prepared for this company to not take any ownership for it. Not to mention they were late on multiple occasions, and when picking up my vehicle the install tech told me verbatim that he had no idea he had todo an alarm which is why he was so behind and he did his best to get it done but he had to rush and install it. I'd like to add that they never provided any instruction on how to bypass the alarm in case of an emergency like I had, which could have costed me my life. My truck shut down with my dash board flashing "theft" and I couldn't restart it which lead me walking 13 miles to find help because I had no cell service. Thank god I found help and was able to make it back safe but along the way home every-time I turned the truck off it couldn't turn back on. This lead me to being stuck 2 additional times returning back home from my trip. Here's the best part: When I try to give my feedback and not do a review online he says that they provided perfect service and it's all me and I'm blaming them for my short comings and that he's happy to hold the mirror for me. Mean while I had it towed to my mechanic which he was able to narrow it all down to this companies recently installed alarm. (I've had the same mechanic for 10 years) I'm a business owner, and I would love for a customer like me to openly come and tell me their thoughts and tell me how it is avoiding a bad review by speaking to me directly. This would give me the opportunity to get better. But not this guy. As you can see in the msgs below it's my fault. I am happy to provide more info around this matter if you want to msg me directly. I did not want todo this but this level of denial and delusion is very concerning. I am very fare and can even show you msgs between me and his wife with her saying sorry for all the delays and me saying it's totally cool I understand that stuff happens. But yet, I'm in the wrong.

After an 1hr 30min, the manager took me to my car and started asking me to come back another day because the job was not done correctly. He admitted it was poorly done and needed to be corrected by someone else who was more experienced and would be in on a different day. If you knew the person working couldn't do the job, why not tell the customer to come another day instead of making them wait and having someone who is inexperienced make an attempt. I was annoyed that I had to come back but I understand things happen. After looking at the car, not only was this simple job done horrendously but there was damage to my car. First, the tint was cut jagged in multiple areas and there was obvious overhang where there was way too much leftover film. Second, there are multiple long razor blade cuts all the way down the frame of the window. The frame is black and now there are multiple long, silver scratches in the metal. These long knife cuts were completely avoidable. Whoever was working on my car was clearly an amateur and didn't know what they were doing. The tint was eventually corrected but there is still damage to my car. I spoke to two shop managers and two people from their customer service line trying to get someone to address the knife damage to my car. No response in over a week. I have tried to contact this company multiple times by phone and email. I think the least they could do is give me a refund for service. If I had a new car, I would be expecting them to pay for the cost of repairing this damage.

I brought my car in for PPF, ceramic coating, and ceramic window tint. What stood out right away was how thorough Armando was during the initial consultation. Before he even gave me a quote, he carefully inspected the car for any paint flaws and actually pointed out some imperfections I didn't even realize were there. Instead of just wrapping over them, he took the time to correct as much as he could before starting the PPF install. The quality of the work is top-tier. The PPF looks clean and precise, the ceramic coating has made cleaning the car ridiculously easy (water just slides right off), and the ceramic tint was done perfectly. Armando is real, transparent, and super easy to talk to. No pressure, no sales gimmicks, just honest advice and quality work. If you're thinking about getting PPF or tint, do yourself a favor and talk to Armando first. Can't recommend him and ProTek enough.

The windshield was cracked for about one foot long without any sign of hitting. So I reached out to the technician and he said it wasn't under any warranty unless it was due to workmanship or water leaking. At first, it sounded like they were not behind their product. So I said the windshield was faulty and cracked inside the car. However, he still didn't understand my point but keeping telling me that it wasn't covered if it was impacted by something like a rock. So I felt like I needed to talk to the manager and address my concerns. In addition, I requested a different brand in case they needed to replace it. After the appointment was set, the windshield had a couple more cracks just like the one before. So without a doubt, the shop had no problem to replace it at no cost. They also apologized that was the first time they had this faulty windshield. At the end, I am still thankful to find them. I'd definitely have given them 5 stars if they would have listened to me before making all sorts of assessment.

    I had a mixed experience at this tint shop. I was shown the tint options, but there wasn't really an explanation of the differences, and no one looked at my vehicle or walked me through what would work best. It felt rushed and like I was inconveniencing them. It felt like I had to do most of the work just to communicate basic information, and that concerns were somewhat dismissed, which felt uneasy when getting a service done. I was given a rough time for when my car would be ready when I asked, but there wasn't clear communication about how I'd be notified until I asked. The worker didn't even have my phone number on file until I brought it up, so if I hadn't asked, I'm not sure how they were expecting to contact me. I ended up calling to check on my car since I hadn't seen any activity, and that's when the owner, Lux who picked up mentioned there were delays since this morning with other vehicles. I completely understand that tinting can be a time-consuming, detail-oriented process and delays can happen, but it would have been appreciated to have clear and respectful communication from the beginning when I arrived especially for an expensive service. After my call, the owner, Lux was very attentive and made sure to follow up when my vehicle was ready, and the tint worker also reached out. Upon pickup, the worker also made a somewhat weird comment regarding timing, which added to the overall uncomfortable experience.Overall, maybe I just had a bad experience with the service worker, and I'm hoping the tint itself turns out fine, but nothing was really explained in terms of information included with my tint install, which felt pretty disappointing for the price and type of service. Overall, the experience felt inconsistent and left me feeling uneasy. A more apologetic and attentive professional approach would have made a big difference. Based on my experience, I would be hesitant to recommend them to others.
