If you love your pet please do not take your pets to this veterinarian. by know means should she be allowed to practice medical help to animals in this state I brought my 'Mia' 14 yr old kitty in to her for ear treatment she had ear mites. the last time she them was about 10 yrs ago i took her to Antioch veterinary clinic the gave ear some ear drops and the cured her till now. my wife sat in the exam room with her waiting for the vet to see her when she did finally see my cat she said she was dehydrated and was en-feasted with flea's and would need steroid shot and worm medicine. Flea solution witch she gave a liquid chemical of it on her neck and above her tail. and worm medication and did nothing to my cats ears witch is the only reason we brought her in. this was December 30 2025 Jan 1 2026 8 am my cat could not breath we rushed in the car to bentwood veterinary hospital. she past away in my lap as we parked the car. my best friend for 14 yrs died on my lap. the staff tried to save her it was to late. i was told it looked like she was poisoned. The staff there was so professional and caring The staff treated her like she was my a family member and took care of all cremations and a beautiful pine earn. i reached out to veterinary doctor at Oakley clinic and told her what had happened and asked for a refund of 315.00 dollars they charged me to kill my cat and she refused.. i did my own investigation into what happen to my healthy cat. and the medication this irresponsible licensed vet . gives to the animals we entrust to her for are pets health. she medicated my cat with Profender topical solution witch is used for tape worm infections for cats 5.5 pounds and above #1 my cat did not have tape worms and she only weight 4.5 pounds further more after reading the horrible reviews on there web site was unbelievable i read for 3 hrs story after story how this product kills cats in 3 days in most cases and it is a painful slow death.. how could a trained licensed veterinarian not do research in the drugs she uses in the care for are loved animals its irresponsible careless and it should be against the law how does she sleep at night...

I would like to thank the staff and doctor . For their heart felt services during our extremely hard decision to end the suffering of the greatest dog to ever bless our lives . They were professional and showed true empathy for animals and owners in need . Thank you again and keep up the good work RIP Nala

Dr. Banuelos has taken absolute amazing care of my puppy Rosco. Rosco loves to see him and the rest of the staff. I couldn't have asked for a better veterinary staff to take care of my puppy. He loves it there and gets excited and practically drags me to the door when he notices where we are

This veterinarian hospital was recommended to me, by a friend of the family. It's hard to find a trusted vet, that works with exotics. Not all Vets can work on rabbits, find a trusted one. I have two bunnies Luna and Ziggy. They are both my world! I have done research in trying to find thee best doctor for my two buns. Dr. Lafferty, is it!!! she is so AMAZING!! So we'll observed when it comes to taking care of both my buns. Both my bunnies have been spayed and neutered by Dr. Lafferty and recovered nicely. Thanks to Alyssa for the recovery process. Luna caught G.I. stasis last year, I was a mess. I thought she wasn't going to make it. Dr. Lafferty had taken Luna in to recover for a few days. Where Sofia and Brittany both syringe feed her, fluids etc. to help Luna get back to health. With work, I couldn't be there 24/7 with Luna. I can't imagine life without my Luna. I always tell her never leave me. Okay!! A bit dramatic but seriously. I am SO thankful she is healthy now. Next few days Luna was eating again. I got Luna a friend Ziggy, spare of the moment. He was sort of a rescue and had stick tack fleas, when I received Ziggy. I thought they were mites. Dr. Lafferty educated me that they are stick tack fleas. Chickens get those, so Ziggy must of been playing with chickens. LOL Anyways i live 45 mins away from Oakley Veterinarian. It's worth the drive, thee best staff!! They really care for your fur babies. I won't go anywhere else. Thank you to Oakley veterinarian staff for all they do. Truly amazing!! Appreciate you guys.

I found this place on yelp. I called and set up an appointment for my two bunnies. You can't wait inside so we waited outside and we went into a room. We were in there for a while. All the people who work there were very knowledgeable and helpful. I just went for a bunny check up. The price was very reasonable. I called and already made another appointment for a procedure.

Anyone in the Bay Area looking for a rabbit veterinarian should schedule an appointment with Dr. Lafferty. Last year I found 2 baby bunnies and made the mistake of bringing them home after unsuccessfully trying to bring them to the animal shelter (closed due to COVID). My daughters instantly fell in love with the bunnies and wanted to keep them and hubby backed them up. So ... 2 bunnies are now part of the family! We thought both bunnies were girls, but after about 6 months of having them, we realized 1 was in fact a boy. The search for a rabbit vet was on (we didn't want anymore bunnies!). After calling many vets, I chose to schedule exams for the rabbits with Dr. Lafferty. During the appointment I found her to be very knowledgeable and thorough. She took her time to answer all of our questions and even gave our bunnies a complimentary nail trim showing us how to do it. The vet techs were also very thorough and willing to take their time answering all our questions. About a month later we finally got both bunnies spayed and neutered. The spay went very well and healed so quick!! The neuter had a little swelling and took some time to heal, but has finally healed up and looking good! Speaking of the neuter, the day after the surgery, I was a little worried about how it looked. I texted them pictures of the area and they were quick to put my mind at ease. I followed their instructions and shortly thereafter he was all healed up. Finally ... their prices are reasonable. $60 for an exam and ~$150 for a spay/neuter. So happy to have found a trusted vet for my daughters bunnies!

    Happy and hoppy again!

I am very grateful to the amazing team at Oakley Veterinary Medical Center for saving our beloved bunny when he had GI Stasis last week. It is very difficult to find an emergency vet for bunnies in the area (note to bunny owners: SAGE in Concord, Berkeley Dog & Cat Hospital, and UC Davis are your best bets after hours). Our bunny had stopped eating, moving, pooping during the night and we were able to get him in to see Dr. B the next afternoon. Luckily, we were able to catch the symptoms of GI Stasis and get an appointment before things really went downhill. Dr. B was very attentive, knowledgeable, and handled our sick bunny gently (excellent bedside manner). He took his time and explained the treatment plan simply and answered all of my questions. I was relieved that Dr. B's main concern was making my bunny comfortable and keeping his stress down. The intake staff and vet techs were also outstanding in their handling of our sick bun! Special shout-out to Denny, who nursed our bunny back to health. Denny spent a lot of time with me, showing me how to syringe-feed Oxbow Critical Care and meds (which I had to do every 3 hours), called me with updates, and went above and beyond to save our bun (who was a difficult patient). When our bunny still wouldn't eat on his own the next day, Denny had us bring him back for "Hospital Day Care". Denny and team nursed our bunny all day, and when I picked him up at 6pm, he was full of energy and gobbling up cilantro and hay! Now he's back to doing binkies and running all over the house. Yesterday, we went back in for a 1 week check up with Dr. Lafferty. She was thrilled with how well our bunny was doing now, and talked with me about prevention and how to treat early signs of GI Stasis. The entire team at Oakley Veterinary Medical Center impressed me. I was totally at ease, leaving my bunny in their care. It is a huge relief knowing there are great rabbit specialists in the area (wish there were more like this). Thank you so much!

After struggling to find a rabbit savvy vet I came along this place and I am more than happy. Everyone is so friendly, and they take great Covid precautions. And they have multiple sweet cats that sleep in boxes in the lobby?? How cute!! Not to mention how the vet and the technician were both so gentle with my very nervous bunny. My baby recently had a respiratory infection and I wanted to make sure he was all better- the doctor stayed and answered every question and concern I had and even printed out some pages that I could take home to review. I am so so grateful to have found a vet who really knows what they're doing and I will absolutely be coming back here for my future appointments. And for those who need it my rabbit general exam was only $60 compared to other vets being over 80 for a general exam.

They "only" charged $3400 for the cleanings, and failed to ask us if we are OK for them to remove all teeth from what used to be one of our dog's cute overbite. We also had to pay another $1500 for a follow-up emergency visit because they injured the other dog (and failed to tell us about it). Doctor must have a twisted sense of reality, because they told me the dogs did "fantastic" when I was called after the procedure. Dog 1: Permanent Disfigurement without Consent They extracted all six lower incisors from one of my dogs without a single phone call to discuss the necessity or get my consent. They effectively destroyed his signature look and "overbite" forever. We dropped off our cute dog and picked up a "small beast" with only two visible lower canines, all because they couldn't be bothered to pick up the phone. And I will be requesting the x-rays and get a second opinion in the necessity of the extractions, because the other incident described below shattered my confidence in their competence. Dog 2: Injury and Cover-Up While my other dog was under anesthesia, the staff managed to lacerate both of his ears while trimming his face. Let that sink in: they cut a dog that was chemically immobilized and not moving. Even worse, the doctor called me afterward and emphatically stated both dogs did "fantastic," choosing to deliberately hide the injuries. They didn't mention a word of it during the face-to-face pickup, either. Dog 2: Late night emergency follow-up visit We only discovered the injured ears after getting home. When we called, they downplayed the cuts as "no big deal" and admitted they had used skin glue to fix one cut. They didn't even provide an e-collar. A few hours later, my dog was bleeding profusely--blood was literally pooling on the floor. We had to rush him to an emergency vet where we discovered the cuts were so deep they required actual sutures. Because of this clinic's "minor" mistake, my small dog had to be put under anesthesia twice in less than 12 hours. And we had to foot a $1500 emergency bill, after an incident that traumatized our family.

Instead of focusing on the likely timeline of my dog's issue (such as how a UTI or infection might progress if that's what he has), the visit shifted into a male dog anatomy lesson on Google. I already had some background knowledge--which he didn't check for--but what I needed was guidance on possible health scenarios and what to watch for progressively. When I tried to ask more detailed questions, it felt difficult to keep the conversation on track. During the exam, he had on jeans, socks with Birkenstock-style sandals, with a scrub top. While attire isn't the most important element in delivering top quality care, in a hospital setting open-toed or sandal-style footwear usually violates safety / biosecurity requirements as it increases the risk of animal scratches, exposure to fluids or slipping. If that wasn't enough to feel a bit uncomfortable with this doctor, he also took it upon himself to bring up an old employee discount my partner once had and referred to him as my "boyfriend" without knowing our relationship. I had already clarified at the start of our visit that the discount no longer applied, so his comment felt unnecessary and personal, and I perceived it as biased. Overall, I left with concerns about how communication was handled. I later saw that some reviewers also had negative experiences with Dr. Gonsier's bedside manner, which made me feel my visit wasn't unique. My goal in sharing this is not to call anyone out, but to underline that professionalism and clear communication really matter in a space that is saturated with sub-par experiences. When those pieces are missing, trust and comfort in the care being provided can slip. I am fortunate that money is not an issue in being able to care for my pets, but doing business with a hospital that has someone like Dr. Gonsier on the team doesn't leave me feeling great about a long term relationship.

The Pet Advocate offers significantly lower prices compared to Bay Area vet clinics, which sold me. Even their highest price for an extraction is only $40 (pre-molars and molars). After submitting my pet's information online, I was contacted shortly after with availability a month out and paid my $50 deposit. The instructions say drop-off is at 8am so I got there at 7:45am. To my surprise, there were already a ton of people there waiting for their pets' spay/neuter and dental cleaning appointments. By the time I was checked in and allowed to bring my dog inside, it was closer to 9am. Having come from a boutique-like vet in D.C., I was put off once I got inside. The waiting room was so busy, and there were so many cats inside from Animal Service, pet owners, and rescues. It just felt too crowded. Once we got to the back for the examination, it felt even more crowded and very factory-like. However, the vet was attentive, addressed all my concerns, and the vet techs were very friendly and gentle with my sweet pup. Before leaving you do have to pay first. Please note it is about a 3% additional fee for debit and credit cards, so I recommend bringing cash! Initially, I thought all my dog would need is dental cleaning. However, a few hours later I received a call from his vet technician who explained the x-rays showed serious bone less in one of his pre-molars and a molar. She explained to me the additional amount owed for the medication and extractions so I could be prepared. When I went to pick my dog up at 3pm, there was yet another long line and it took another 30-40minutes for most of us to be called in. The vet tech took the time to sit with me and explain all the limitations, how the procedure went, showed me the x-rays, and advised me on post-care. It helped put me at ease. For the price, it was worth coming here. The only cons were the check-in and checkout system, the number of animals there at one time, and how crowded the examination area was. Aside from dental cleaning and vaccinations, I probably would not come here for anything else. In addition to the driving time, factor in about another hour for check-in AND check out. A week post-op and my dog's extraction sites are healing very well so I'm still satisfied with the service!

When Dr. Lenz came into the room she apologized for the delay which was nice but not expected at all, I totally understand these things happen. It's just like being in the human ER. We were treated with kindness the whole time. I was never pressured to agree to extra testing. Dr. Lenz told me what was suggested and let me decide. Thank you Dr. Lenz and the whole staff for your kindness and compassion that you show your patients, human and furry!

I've spent a lot of time and money over the past 10 years at VCA with all of my loved pets. This…read morepast experience is in no way a negative against the staff as far as their customer service, but more of an "educational" review. I sent this email to them on 1/3, and I haven't received a response yet. Even when this incident occurred, the staff was attentive and went above and beyond to try to resolve the situation. I'm posting this for education to anyone who has a cat. This is a copy of my email on 1/3: Good morning, I wanted to personally write instead of posting a review on Yelp, about our experience when we brought Maple in on Sunday, December 28th. Our family has a long history of pets that we have brought in over the years, and we have never had a negative experience in any way, in fact, I have always spoke highly of the entire staff there when recommending to friends and family. I want to start off by staying that our experience on 12/28 was not a negative one with regards to the staff, but I am writing this email to bring something to your attention in hopes of educating staff to prevent this from happening in the future (and yes, it's not a matter of "if" but a matter of "when" when cats are involved!). Maple has been very sick and multiple visits to her regular vet and your emergency, have happened the past month. We brought her to emergency on 12/28 in hopes of finding out what was wrong and finding a solution. Maple is a very nervous cat and doesn't like strangers, and she really did not like having anything shoved up her butt when she has been in a lot of discomfort due to the diarrhea. Maple was examined, then taken to the room for further testing. I wish I would have objected, but I trusted that staff would do their very best with regard to safety. Unfortunately, Maple escaped their hold and tried to find a place to hide, which was inside an open cabinet where there was an opening to the underside of the steel exam table. I'm sure I don't need to state how dangerous this is and could have been if the outcome was different. Cats are very unpredictable creatures, and after we were invited to go back to the room to try to coax her out, I was surprised at the lack of secure spaces for cats. I want to add that this ordeal ended up being just short of 9 hours at. We tried everything to get her out. This was an extremely stressful and upsetting time for my daughter and I and resulted in my being awake for 24 hours. My daughter ended up calling in sick for work since we left the vet around 6am. I was doing my best not to be upset at staff, but I feel like looking back, there is a bit of negligence on their part. My request is that staff is educated, more careful, and that there is some type of plan in place to mitigate any future occurrences. Maple was lucky. We were lucky that she didn't have a serious health condition and that she was healthy enough to be in that hole for that length of time. My ask is that you also find out from the manufacturer if there is a cover for the inside of that exam table, so that in the off-chance staff leaves that door open, that another cat will not have the same experience as Maple did. I look forward to your response.
