NOT to be confused with OAKTREE LEGAL SERVICES (Kristin Bailey, Megan, Nicole, Derrick Matthews, Matthew, Rene Berta, Lilia & other known associates) OAKTREE LEGAL SERVICES is a scam BEWARE & they use the similar name to Oak Tree Law intentionally. They are located in West Covina, but that is NOT a real office, it is not a physical address. It is a virtual office address and a Process Server confirmed this for me. They are not paying their Notary Publics and/or have paid them with fake Paypal links when pressed for payment. They signed me on to handle the wrongful foreclosure on my home. The ONLY thing they did was request the surplus funds & when there was no $$ to get their hands on, they dumped my case. They nearly got me evicted, as they said they were handling my case but did nothing more than request the surplus funds. I first contacted Oak Tree Law back in July 2016 after a few unsuccessful attempts to get my loan modified with Nationstar Mortgage. The previous loan mod had come to the end of its term and our payment had skyrocketed a couple thousand more a month. Because of our loan amount, we did not qualify for any government programs. We were running out of options, so we felt we needed to get an attorney on our side. I met with Mark and he introduced my husband and I to Jennifer and we discussed our options. I knew it was going to be a process and in fact we were denied a loan modification and had to appeal and reapply. All along I found Mark and Jennifer to be communicative and although I imagine they were busy with other cases at times, they always got back to me to answer any questions or concerns. As Nationstar was taking their sweet time on approving our loan modification, at the suggestion of Mark, we filed Chapter 13 in order to start the process of lien stripping our 2nd mortgage. We were then introduced and started working with Julie and Ryan who took care of the bankruptcy cases. Again, Julie always responded in a timely manner and if she wasn't able to, she had Ryan make sure our questions were answered. After a year-long struggle, we're happy to say that we finally got the loan modified permanently and although the interest rates went up, and our payments weren't reduced by too much, at least we were able to manage the payment. The next hurdle was our Chapter 13 payment which we finally got modified just last month. It was a long road and it took about a year and a half for everything to come together but I certainly could not have done it without the help and guidance of Julie and her team. I would definitely recommend Oak Tree Law. My advice would be to definitely reach out to them if you're getting nowhere trying to negotiate by yourself, but also do your homework and be on top of your case. I have never been late on my mortgage payments since I bought my home in 2001. I had a back injury and as a independent contractor I did not qualify for disability. I was not able to make any payments for at least 4 months since my priority became my health. I searched in yelp and I found the Oaktree Law. After all the horror stories you hear about law companies taking advantage of their customers and at the end loosing your home, I was a bit scared to initiate dealings with any law company. Reza Pejuhesh was the attorney who I was assigned to handle my case. I made a first payment of $1500.00 (retainer fee) and I gave him all the documentation he need it. I had previously applied for the loan modification and even though I bought a book to guide me through the application, at the end it was denied. My loan modification was approved under the Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP) which is the hardest and the best program to be approved by. All of these happened in 2 months. I paid half of what I used to pay for my mortgage. I was approved at 2% from %4.75. I highly recommend the Oaktree Law! read more

I hired OakTree law to handle my IRS matters, Justin was nice in the consultation he told me to file for each year and he'll take care of the rest! Justin introduces Me to Jericca who never answer my calls or follow through!! My court date comes up and I'm waiting and waiting... until I heard everyone's case, the judge finally call my case I stood and the judge ask where's your attorney? I said your honor I don't know, his reply was you can represent yourself so I did, after all I heard all the cases I knew what to say the judge discharged everything I'm thinking yes I have a fresh start now I can rebuild my life...I called OakTree immediately and ask why didn't my attorney show up in court? OakTree said oh know the date was wrong ! My paperwork said for me to appear on this date I explained! Of course they said nothing! So I wrote a yelp review on OakTree, they offered me 700.00 of my money back to delete the review so I agreed! I'm going on with my life remind you this happened in 2016 I just got a call from the IRS threatened to levy my account I explained that I filed BK back in 2016, there reply was we haven't received any court papers!!! This was the worst experience with an attorney I've ever had. The attorney's name is Justin Kirk. Horrible customer service. He got really upset because I asked him not to keep repeating the same question he had already asked me three times which I had already answered three times. I would like to inform you I called recently to see what would fit best in my situation, I spoke with Justin Kirk and I'm sorry to say he was very rude and insensitive to my questions about a debt settlement. An inheritance I would be receiving soon from my father who recently passed, which I never thought I would be receiving and to better invest that money then to pay all in debt full but into a debt settlement. I needed advise on what would be best but Justin pretty much made me feel Horrible. I was able to find another attorney at a different firm and what a difference it was speaking with him vs Justin. My engagement of Oaktree Law begin May 2015 through Mark Hoffman, the attorney who patiently answered all my questions to the best of his judgement. I was under court protection at the time. Mark knows my mortgage was not under HARP program and serviced by a major servicer whom shall remain unnamed. Then in Fall of 2015, Ms. Christina Kim took over. She put together the lawsuit against servicer as Mark had pointed out earlier. She explained things in detail, patiently, so I understood the process and angle of attack. She had me document and answered all the pertinent questions which she used to file the allegations of wrongdoings against all lenders and servicers along the 10-year life of the loan. The servicer responded to the suit and demanded us dropping the case.in exchange for loan modification negotiation. So we did, with our fingers cross. Months of proof of income were requested and processed, yesterday I got the call from Jennifer Leonard whom handled the negotiations of the modifcation (I assume). The Loan Mod was APPROVED. APPROVED? I read her email stating the low rate (Below 3% as we had hoped, well below ), terms and details..... it was great as ADVERTISED. Warning, only use this law firm for trying to modify your mortgage if your mortgage is through a major bank. Oaktree took a lot of money, made many promises and were told guaranteed that they would get our loan modified. Only problem was they had never dealt with our mortgage company before and since ours is a smaller one they absolutely would not work with us. Also they TV commercial has a couple state that Oaktree sued their mortgage company and got money out of them to cover expenses but when we asked for that we were told lawsuits against mortgage companies are never successful. Just makes you think another shifty law firm that is happy to take money, make promises to get that money and then too bad they can't help you after all. read more

I've heard lots of commercials for Oak Tree Law on KFI AM 640. We've lived in our dream home for the past 15 years. I've been laid off, but I haven't given up. To this day, I still blame myself for retaining Oak Tree Law almost eight months ago. Mr. Mark Hoffman was who I met with in March, 2015. I left our initial appointment with a signed agreement with his office. Again, I blame myself; March, April and May went by: nothing. No movement from Oak Tree Law. Same with June. I believe I did an outstanding job mailing foreclosure notices and other pertinent information to Mr. Hoffman. It wasn't until July that I receive an email listing questions that needed to be answered. My response was swift and I have the emails to prove it. We lost our home of 20 years. I don't blame Mr. Hoffman at Oak Tree Law, I blame myself. Should you retain Oak Tree Law and weeks or months pass without any contact, pick up the phone and keep things moving.
