Strong expertise and caring staff! I had been skipping dental exams all my life, and finally decided to try Oakwood Dental upon the strong recommendation from my husband. When I went in for my exam, instead of getting a lecture on dental care, I was surprised by the level of understanding and care among Dr. Bucci's team. Since I had not had any dental issues all my life, getting routine dental care has not been my focus. To be honest, hearing all the horror dental stories from my friends has been making me anxious to any dental visits. Dr. Bucci's staff was extremely patient with me, and explained everything well. Since I have a small mouth, they accommodated me with small equipment for X rays, and plenty of chapsticks to open my mouth further for exam. They found no cavities in my mouth, but I had a cracked tooth that needed to be extracted. Dr. Bucci was very patient and thorough. I was referred to an endodontist to ensure that the tooth could not be saved before the extraction. The extraction was long and unpleasant (to be expected), but her staff was extremely supportive and literally held my nervous hands along the way. I am also very glad to see her all staff are happy working there, and know each patient very well. What started out as our older daughter, getting a referral from her, now husband, then fiancee. She needed work, and she has a fear of dentists, due to a few bad experiences. She continued to talk about Dr. Bucci, and was so pleased with her bedside manner, and her immaculate work. She uses the top of the line material's, and does all the work herself. She has an excellent cleaning girl, who is the absolute best!! Doesn't miss a thing!! After the reviews from our daughter, we wanted to try her out. For our 31st Anniversary, she paid for us both to get a full, and very thorough check-up. I asked which insurance could help us out. My husband needs over $10,000 worth of work, and I luckily, just needed a cleaning, and 4 small cavities to fill. With Aetna, it cut the costs in half. Our youngest who is 26, ended up trying her out, also, and is now a patient. The premium for the year was only $269.00 for all 4 of us for a year, and it saved a lot!!. It also, includes vision, and prescriptions. The front desk can give you their information in case your uninsured, excetra. She takes PPOs etc. She is worth every penny!!! Just had two fillings and bonding on my two front teeth. I can't begin to explain how easily this all went. Dr. Bucci has such a great touch and I truly consider her an artist as well as a Dentist. The Place- It's on the side of the street and a little tricky to spot, and if you pass Darband Grill you've gone too far. On my second pass around I spotted a little side street which led to a plentiful back parking lot... score! The office itself is a mixed bag... some things look a little older, but some things look fancy and new. The tech seems up to date though, so no complaints where it counts. The Staff- A smaller office, and staff is fairly nice. Dr. Bucci is on the younger side, very friendly, and is great about explaining everything as she does it... oh, and I had to reschedule a bunch of times- they were very accommodating! Thank you! The Service- Pretty good. Got out in 1hr and 15, which is a good day by my count. I really enjoyed the water-pik-style cleaning (minimal time spent with metal things against my gums, phew) although I've had more thorough flossings. How trips to the dental office can be enjoyable sounds impossible, But Dr. Bucci and staff are truly second to none. A HUGE quality they have is everything (from my experience) runs on time! No annoying waits in the lobby, then annoying waits in the chair, etc. They are usually waiting for me, and once I step in the office I am out in no time. Dr. Bucci really cares about her patients and only suggests what needs to be done , but also has called me out on things like...not flossing! She does it with a smile but get the message across loud and clear, all for her patients well being! Staff is fantastic, office is great, and their follow up is incredible. The office is perfectly clean and not crowded. Very glad I found a great dentist. UPDATE: I went to Dr. Bucci in august and she extracted 2 of my wisdom teeth. I was SO nervous before but she made the process completely painless and easy. I watched netflix with headphones on the overhead TV. Everything healed quickly and I was barely even swollen. GET A SECOND OPINION!!! My entire family has been going to Dr Bucci for years, since she took over the practice in 2011. Initially we were happy with her cleanings and typical run of mill dentistry. However, over the past year and a half, we have been sold services that were unnecessary and extremely expensive. Most recently, my husband went in with tooth pain and was told a prior root canal tooth had cracked and needed to be extracted and an implant needed to be put in (at a cost of roughly $4k AFTER insurance). He was also told that he had gum disease that needed a "deep cleaning" at an additional cost of $200 after ins. We went to another highly recommended dentist in the area and were told that not only does he not have any gum issues (and absolutely no need for a deep cleaning) but the tooth that they claimed was cracked based on xrays they took, was in fact NOT cracked and did not need to be removed. In addition, our new dentist saw 2 failing fillings (put in by Dr Bucci) that needed work BEFORE they failed to avoid costly and invasive treatments. Why was this not brought up during my husbands most recent visit where an exam AND X-rays were done by Dr Bucci? My feeling is that Dr B would rather wait for them to fail and possibly need more extensive/costly work done. Finding out that a permanent removal of a tooth and a $4200 bill were completely unnecessary was the last straw. Please ALWAYS go get a second opinion, especially when it comes to the advice of Dr Bucci. We are thoroughly happy with our new dentist who is honest and more reasonably priced. Also, When I tried to get our medical records from them to forward to our new dentist, they stopped answering my calls after the second time I called. (They have caller ID). I attempted 5x to get them, still have not received anything from them. DEFINITELY GET A SECOND OPINION!!! read more

We moved here in Thousand Oaks last year July and needed a new dental place for cleaning every 3 months. My husband found this place on Yelp and he took me there. First appointment went fine and we set up another appointment for cleaning. A week before my appointment I called them to see if they can re-schedule my appointment since it's my working day. The lady who answered my call was rude. I explained her I can't be there and asked her if there is any available appointment for me and this is what she told me "It's booked till June". I called her mid March and she said their place is booked till june instead of offering me another appointment. They haven't followed up with me since. I am in need of cleaning and here I am still searching for a new dental place I can rely on. I am so disappointed with this place. Save your money and go elsewhere if you are busy working person like me. They will not even bother to reschedule the appointment for you. You should hire professional people to answer the phone calls. P.S: They still haven't send us the refund check from our first visit. It's almost a year now from our first visit. So the first visit was good. Hygienists are really nice and friendly, but the admin side could use a drastic improvement. They owe me a refund of over $200 from overpaying in December. It's now June and I have yet to receive it. They told me in March that it was in the mail. Also, I haven't seen the dentist since the first visit. In my last dental office, everyone was super friendly and accommodating, and the dentist would always stop by to say hello and check in. I felt like part of the family there. Best dentist office I've ever been to. My first visit was quick and easy. The staff are super helpful and answer all questions no matter how silly they sound. The office space is high tech with Netflix above you to watch whatever you want. No more fill out paperwork either- it's all on the computer. My second visit was a little off because I waited an hour past my appointment time but they rescheduled for the next week, apologized, and gave me a gift card which was nice. My next appointment was for fillings. I watched my favorite show while they did their thing and it was painless, quick and easy once again. The receptionist is also very friendly and knowledgeable about the billing info when you're a newbie to insurance on your own. I recommend this place to everyone, especially the young kids just out of college kids not excited about the real world. read more

I moved to the area a few months back and I'm so glad I found a great dentist. The office has state of the art equipment and a fully paperless process to get you setup as a patient. Dr. Laura explained to me every issue with my teeth, created a plan and was very clear about what and why did I need. She is very gentle and hardly felt any discomfort during my visits. I felt very well taken care of, and they worked with my insurance company without me doing anything other than providing my information. I loved everything about experience! As a new patient I had to feel out paper work and I was pleasantly surprised when I found out that they're paperless, so they took me to a small room and I completed my paperwork in record time. I then had x-rays, my technician was great, she explained every process and you can tell she loves her job and was very friendly. Then I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Bucci she was very nice and she took a personal interest in the health of my teeth. Great people! Made an appointment easily. They worked with my previous dentist and insurance to get my information and records. Instead of writing all my information on paper, they had a computer prepared so I could just type it in. The actual check and cleaning was easy. Doctor, hygienist, and assistant are all friendly.
