My wife and I desired a barbecue rib dinner tonight and chose the closest one to us. Tuesday and Wednesday evenings highlight full rack of ribs with two sides and Texas toast for a special price. It was busy with 5 parties ahead of us, so we chose to sit at the small bar and ordered from the bartender and whoosh, she brought our beverages and no more than to minutes, our food arrive , over flowing the plate and smelling great. We ate our fill, and we each took home about half of our rack or ribs for lunch tomorrow, but ate our beans and sweet potato. A great night for our hunger satisfied. read more

We stopped by today for lunch. Don't let the outside fool you. It doesn't look like much but honestly these were some of the most tender ribs I've ever had. We both got the full slab it came with 2 sides and a piece of garlic bread. I believe there were 8 different sides to choose from. They also had 3 different sauces on the table. Went to the Oakwood Express Smokehouse Saturday night. The service was amazing. The food was awful, the sides had no flavor, not one side. I ordered the combo plater the chicken and ribs. The ribs had no meat bones. Both meats were so dry, again, no flavor. The best part of my meal was the garlic bread. I am glad, I tried it, but, I won't be back. My server was amazing. I will say, the front of the house, from the busboy to the wait staff are doing a great job. Food not so much. No flavors on the whole plate, meat was very dry and no meat on the bone. read more

Our first visit to this location and also very good. I was disappointed as I wanted the Mahi, but they ran out. So I ordered the flounder and it was good. My wife got baby back ribs and they were delicious she said. I don't eat meat, so thrilled that I could enjoy their BBQ sauce on something. The service was fast! I really don't think Oakwood express needs a good review by me. It already has 4 1/2 stars so that's why I decided to give it five stars. The only thing I get there when I go is the full rack of ribs. My two sides are a double baked bean sometimes I tend not to be able to finish my whole meal but not here. In fact I have to slow down eating. It's so good you come down in this area for two weeks and go here at least three of the nights. slight problem is that my wife doesn't eat meat I pray for her every night that she sees the light that will lead her into a full rack of Oak express barbecue ribs. Our server brought me dark chicken meat when I wanted white. To correct the issue, she brought out a serving of white, but had me keep the dark. Now, that's a lot of chicken. We have company and ordered 4 take out dinners. We asked the girl who packed our order to please make sure she got all of our items in the bag because we didn't want to have to come back. Wouldn't you know that when we got home, the sandwich that we ordered was not in the bag. It was the sandwich for our guest. We called the restaurant and told them they forgot the order and told them we would be back to get a refund for the sandwich. We were not happy. They gave us a refund for the sandwich with no apology and no compensation for our troubles. I called the manager to express our disappointment that there was not even a little compensation (maybe a small gift card?) and he said it's policy that no extras are ever given. They will replace an item. I told him that would do no good because we had already eaten and shared our dinners with our guest who didn't get hers. For me, the lack of compensation is no way to run a business. We should have been compensated for our troubles. I should mention, he said this policy comes from higher up, not him as the manager. Our favorite is fried okra but you will not be disappointed with any of them. Never had a less than excellent experience with their food and staff. Food is hot, service is great and the costs very reasonable. We get take-out a great deal. Quick, hot and always correct to order. Being from the South, we always get our New Year's Meal (Pork, Turkey, Collards, Blackeyed Peas, Cole Slaw, Fried Okra and Baked Beans) from Oakwood. I had the chicken and pulled pork. The chicken was a bit dry, but I enjoyed my beans. They forgot my coleslaw completely, even though I paid for 2 sides. You also get garlic bread on the side. This is an express location so you can't get brisket here, which we didn't realize up front. My husband had the sliced pork and they gave a very generous portion, but it wasn't sauced in any way and we didn't get any sauce on the side. My daughter had the pulled pork and ribs. She liked the pulled pork (it has sauce mixed in). It was a bit sweet, but moist. She didn't care for the ribs as much - she felt they weren't that meaty. She also wasn't a big fan of the mac and cheese. She said it tasted like box. We're use to BBQ places serving baked mac and cheese. The place was packed. I called ahead (which I highly recommend) and the order was ready pretty much on time. It wasn't cheap, but the portions were decent. I've tried 3 BBQ places in the area so far and this is my #2. I think if we go again, we'll try the non-express location so we can try the brisket, but I'm also interested in trying ones we haven't been too yet based on my finds so far. read more
