Nowadays many people are very disappointed with their life and they simply can't appreciate the beautiful things around them. It's hard to read such reviews about this great memorial park. However, since I started visiting this place about 3 years ago, I never had any problems with the staff. Adolfo is the best manager and very helpful. The park itself is so peaceful with breathtaking views that you don't want to leave. The only thing I would recommend to change is visiting hours because people are coming after work day is over.

Please stay as far away from this place as possible. We buried girlfriends father there in January 2023 in a pre-purchased crypt and they didn't have the chairs and canopy set up so we had to stand for the ceremony. Adolfo Zamudio who claims to be the manager blamed the mortuary representative. During the grave site service the staff were joking and talking out loud totally disrespecting our family and the service so the mortuary director had to shush them and tell them to be quiet and step around the corner all the time the deacon was speaking. We were very clear to make sure the words "I did it my way" was installed on girlfriends father's crypt. We even returned to the office to confirm this but when we went there April 2, 2023 they installed "I did my way". Now we have to wait weeks before it's corrected. On April 1, 2023 tragedy strikes again when girlfriends brother passed away so after making all the arraignments except for the cemetery we returned to Oakwood Memorial Park on April 13, 2023 so we could bury girlfriends brother with her mother and father. Adolfo knew exactly who we were the second we walked in the door and as soon as I told him her brother passed away Adolfo Zamudio walks over and says we'll never bury my brother anywhere close to her parents. He immediately quotes $15K for a ground plot plus $2,500.00 labor or $10.5K for a crypt and additional $2,500.00 labor again, nowhere near her father and mother and never even mentions headstones or markers. Adolfo was talking loud and smiling all the time as though he found humor in our grief. Then he grabs these maps and price lists, circles the highest prices and suggests we go to Glen Haven & Sholom Memorial Park where it would be "Two thirds less". Adolfo Zamudio is an unsympathetic subhuman being with absolutely no compassion. He should not be working in any position where he's allowed to come in contact with customers.

It's kind of difficult to write a review for a place like this given the circumstances my family and I are going through. Let me start by saying that Adolfo and his staff were extremely helpful throughout this wearying measure. His team made the process undemanding and easy to understand. Adolfo was equable and broke down the fiscal matters in a way that was easy to grasp. The cemetery is kept very clean and the landscaping looks beautiful. Plantsman round up and discard all previously delivered flowers to gravesites every Wednesday, unless they're still in great looking condition, otherwise they're thrown out. That includes any decorative item you may have brought, so remember to pick them up Tuesday and you could place back on Thursday. Oakwood Memorial Park has a chapel onsite and clean restrooms available to all personnel. Their hours are 7 days a week 8:30 AM - 5 PM. Recommendation for office: It would be amazing if your closing hours would change to 7 PM the latest. The majority of people get off work at 5 PM making it impossible to visit a love one during the week. Please consider making that change.

The manager was standing at the entrance and handing out a highlighted map to our guests. Very nice touch that I wasn't expecting.

Peaceful park settings. Very safe place with on-site security patrols. Even large gatherings are low key and respectful.

Since the family member who died left behind a partner still dealing with shock and grief and two daughters, 20 and 18, devastated by the loss, it was hard to keep everyone focused. Because they wanted to have revisions before everyone agreed on all the wording, design elements and the picture of the deceased that they wanted on the memorial tablet, dealing with all the revisions was certainly a lot of work for Debbie. She never complained. She was understanding, compassionate, supportive of everyone and delivered the beautiful final project well within the time frame she projected for completion. She took care of coordinating the installation with the cemetery staff. Having the tablet in place now is a tremendous comfort for the family. Given the quality of the Memorial Tablet, the price was more than fair, particularly since the price of the materials involved is expensive, which is not under Debbie's control. We highly recommend Albec Company and are very grateful to Debbie for all of her help.

Before a body can be cremated, the cause of death needs to be reported by the doctor and it needs to be registered with the county. My mother died on a Friday afternoon at a board and care facility where she had just entered hospice. I was at the facility along with the hospice nurse during my call to Bastian and Perrott. The hospice nurse and I provided all the information Bastian and Perrott required, including the name of the hospice doctor and his phone number. The hospice nurse assured me the hospice doctor was very responsive and would be available the following Monday (day #3). That Wednesday (day #5), I met with Bob to pick out an urn, get an update and pay. My mother had not been cremated and was told they were still working through the paperwork. I was reassured there was still time for my mother to be cremated--I could pick up her ashes on Saturday for her Sunday (day #9) offsite funeral. Bob said he would call me the next day. I was busy with the funeral arrangements Thursday morning and forgot about Bob until he called that afternoon (day #6). He still did not have the cause of death report, the key factor for cremation to proceed, and was waiting for my mother's regular doctor to respond. I asked why the hospice doctor wasn't involved and why did Bastian and Perrott wait so long to notify me of the delay. Bob explained that they didn't want to bother the family during this stressful time. I told him that I was much more upset now--because it was too late and now impossible to get my mother's ashes to her funeral--than I would have been if he let me know Tuesday or when we met the day before when there was still time. After I got off the phone with Bob, I immediately called the hospice agency. They took care of the cause of death report with the hospice doctor in 1 1/2 hours. They also told me that no one at Bastian and Perrott had ever faxed them the form that the hospice doctor needed to complete. When I called Bastian and Perrott the next day, Friday (day #7), they said they had the doctor's information and now needed to register with LA County. Basically, as soon as the hospice doctor, who they were originally directed to, got involved, the cremation process moved forward very quickly. To further emphasize this, my mother's ashes were ready for pick-up on Tuesday (day #10), three days after the hospice got involved. If Bastian and Perrott had contacted the hospice doctor as they had been directed, or even by day #4/5, my mother's ashes could have been ready for her funeral service. I was extremely disappointed with Bastian and Perrott. They dropped the ball, dithered for over 3 1/2 days, thereby making it impossible for my mother's ashes to be present at her funeral. Instead of responding with sensitivity and real help during an especially sad time, Bastian and Perrott contributed further to our family's distress and pain.

Crawford Lorenzen Mortuary picked up my father's body from a healthcare facility on the same day he…read moredied. The mortuary was given my name by the healthcare facility. Next of kin notification was never made by this mortuary. In fact, this mortuary informed the Los Angeles County Public Administrators office that my father had no known next of kin, even though this mortuary had been given my name by the healthcare facility when they picked up my father's body. This mortuary kept my father's body refrigerated at their mortuary for 7 1/2 months, without explanation. This practice does not meet regulatory requirements for funeral establishments. After 7 1/2 months they finally contact the County of Los Angeles Public Administrator's office and the Office of Decedent Affairs asking for authorization to transfer my father to be cremated as "Unclaimed Dead" My father was a military veteran and was entitled to federally protected military burial rights. No one or county office that handled my father's remains ever contacted the Veterans Affairs to perform a veteran status check. Had they, they would have been informed my father served in the military which would have required all involved to contact veteran affairs to arrange a military burial with full honors. Instead, my father was cremated by the County of Los Angeles in June of 2022, 8 months after he had died with no next of kin notification, no next of kin authorization to cremate and violated my father's federally protected rights to a military burial. Then my father sat on a shelf somewhere in Los Angeles County for 2 1/2 years, before he was buried in a mass grave, with 1,896 other human cremains. I did not find out my father had died until 4 1/2 years after his death. Recently I contacted Gloria, the facility manager at Crawford Mortuary. When I initially spoke with her, she withheld from me that her mortuary had keep my father's body in their refrigerator for 7 1/2 months. I learned of this from the Public Administrators office. I formally requested all mortuary records that this funeral home is required to maintain on decedents. Gloria has still not responded to my full requests for this mortuary's records for my deceased father after having received two formal written requests. I was contacted by phone by Jessica Rodriguez, an alleged operational support person, who informed me that their lawyers had told them to release only 3 documents to me. These three documents were not Crawford Lorenzen Mortuary required records. It is very concerning when a mortuary has their representative tell next of kin of a decedent that their lawyers are advising them what documentation will be allowed to be given to a decedent's next of kin. From what I have been told is if a mortuary claims, "Our lawyers won't let us release anything" This is typically a stall tactic or an attempt to avoid regulatory scrutiny. California funeral establishments are regulated by the Cemetery and Funeral Bureau (CFB). They are legally required to maintain and produce specific records related to the handling, storage, identifications, and the disposition of human remains. I'm telling you this, because this mortuary is not going to tell you. There is no provision in California law allowing a mortuary to withhold decedent mortuary records from the decedents next of kin, because allegedly their attorney told them not to release the records. This mortuary's alleged Attorney preference is not a legal exemption and does not override California Cemetery and Funeral Bureau regulatory requirements. What California Law Actually Requires Funeral establishments must maintain and produce records including (but not limited to): * Authorization for disposition * Chain-of- custody logs * Identification records * Refrigeration and storage records * Cremation records * Contracts, price lists and itemized statements * Transportation records * Next-of-kin notification records * All communications between the mortuary in hospitals and county agencies, such as Medical Examiner, Coroner, Office of Decedent Affairs or the Public Administrators Office. When a mortuary is telling me they are not going to provide me with the records of my deceased father after keeping him refrigerated for 7 1/2 months and then requested county disposition for cremation and informed County offices my father had no next of kin even though this mortuary had been given my name and I was the daughter, raises a huge red flag. My experience with this mortuary is that they are not transparent. Finding out that they had my father in their refrigerator 7 1/2 months before the mortuary sought county cremation claiming my father had no next of kin, and what happened after the fact, is horrifying.
