It's not the Ritz Carlton but it has a super chill feeling from the minute you walk in to the hotel. The staff is extra friendly and we really enjoyed the accommodations James ( who we happened to meet on Friday night) got ice for us. The ice machine on the third floor was broken so he ran down to the bar and brought us ice! This was so nice and considerate! We also appreciated Kandi at the coffee bar. She was so helpful and had a line of customers and yet still kept her composure and was super friendly! The hotel room was super clean and the beds were so comfortable! The only reason that I didn't give this place another star is, 1) I would have like a bath mat in the shower. ( I'm getting old ) and 2) the carpet in the halls on the third floor need some updating. Actually the place in general could use a little facelift. We loved sitting outside at night looking at the moon reflecting off the lake. The staff here (even at the restaurant ) we're all so nice! The food is just ok, but overpriced and not worth the high price. But the only reason we have been here is because a great band, He Said She Said, was playing. They were playing indoors tonight, as they have in the past. Tonight they were told to leave because someone complained they were too loud. Hello, it's a live band, so it's going to be loud. And Oakwood knew that because they have hired this band to play here many times before. By the way, the sound was fine. We will see the band elsewhere. They're all over the local area!! Husband and I met two friends there for lunch on the patio. We were greeted and seated immediately. The food ordered was a strawberry/spinach salad, shrimp quesadilla, chicken sandwich (no bread) and grouper (no bread) sandwich. The salad was typical for a lunch salad and friend said it was good. Husband said the shrimp quesadilla was good but the salsa was quite bland. Friend's chicken sandwich was, well, a pretty small piece of chicken - thin and the size of the palm of her hand. My grouper was thin and small. Three of us ordered the slaw as a side; it was overdressed (drippy) and a very small serving. Friend with the chicken and me went away still hungry. We recently stayed at the Oakwood Resort in Syracuse, Indiana and had an amazing time! We were looking for a 'getaway' from home for a few days.  I booked a lake side King suite room on the 2nd floor, but there are many other options.  The room was spacious, clean, and was more than enough room for the two of us.  Our bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was again, more than big enough for the two of us.  A few steps out the back of the hotel is its own private beach. There are chairs to lounge in the sun or under a tree, a fire pit, some games, and canoes for the hotel guests to use throughout their stay. While not a huge stretch of sand, it was perfect for just sitting and relaxing. A 2 minute walk from this beach is the hotel's restaurant: the Pier and Back Porch.  Tons of boats pull in and out of this small cove - you can tell the residents of the lake love this spot for a drink, food, happy hour, and just to meet up with friends.  There is a large outdoor patio with plenty of shade (or sun) - whatever you prefer.  There's also a huge indoor portion of the restaurant with a full bar and lots of space. Plus live music on the weekends. Everything we ate here was great!  They have salads and sandwiches, steaks, fish, burgers, sushi, and some really fun appetizers.  I'd highly recommend this place as a very relaxing getaway. read more

Was looking for a road trip and an overnight stay. Found a beautiful and relaxing spot at oakwood resort. It was off-season in May with very few guests but that made it even better for me. The chef was very busy overseeing the setup of a recently built bar on the boat dock. He was very friendly and passionate about the cuisine at the restaurant. Suggested jerk chicken. The sauce is sweet and surprisingly hot and spicy. My lady had cajun chicken alfredo that was very good as well. Our room was big and bright, over looking the lake. There is a tiny beach area just outside and we put our chairs in the water's edge. The few boats passing sending their wakes splashing cool clear water on us. There is an old school coin-op arcade on the second floor. I was going at the high score and lost track off time. Asked for an extended check out after a long run on galaxian. Did not want to leave after our stay was over. Found some brochures and headed out to amish country. That's another whole review there. read more

My wife and I were there for 3 nights. We had a lake view room on the second floor. The first night was quiet and we had a good nights sleep. The following 2 nights were very loud because there were 15 people 20 feet outside our room window partying around the fire ring. The first night they partied until 12 midnight. The second night they partied until 1:00 AM with music blaring. We called the front desk and were told there were no quiet hours. They said they would talk to them but nothing changed. The next morning the front desk had an attitude and said there was nothing they could do. We would never return and advise you not too if you plan to sleep! read more

Hello Oakwood Resort, My mother booked two rooms for my bridesmaids and I to have our bachelorette weekend here. The resort is beautiful, however I was disappointed to find in our hotel, a bathroom door that gets stuck opening and closing it, hair in the bathtub, a lacroix can in the trash, a leaking fridge, a dirty sink, expires pop in the vending machine and a leaking refrigerator. I'm not making my mother aware, but wanted to let you know that I expected a nicer environment for a resort, especially during a pandemic. They also weren't enforcing the mask rule, which is a state mandated law in their state. read more

This is a beautiful hotel on Lake Wawasee in Syracuse, Indiana. It's clean and well kept. The staff is friendly. I love that they recently added a Starbucks inside! (You can't use your app or get points though.) We love to bring the boat over for lunch or dinner at sit outside. They have a nice patio that overlooks the lake. Everything I've ordered over the years has been great, I've never had a bad dish. Service is always great too! read more

I know you're probably reading this - for those who are NOT Sarah reading this review, she should be fired promptly if you have any regard for customer service or the future of this establishment. My family has been coming to Lake Wawasee for the last hundred years. Our last visit was great, this one makes me want to Wawa-wanna run for the hills. I'll break this review into comprehensive bullets: I type this as the final embers of the Oakwood Jenga blocks burn before my eyes, a fate the Oakwood "resort" will soon face metaphorically if they don't shape up 1. We have an email receipt confirming our request for two suites next to each other for a lake-front view room. We have family coming together from Arizona, LA, Dallas, Cincinnati, and Kansas. We were called the morning of our arrival to let us know no restaurant access/hotel amenities would be accommodated due to a Bennington convention. Why were we called the day of? - when we asked what Oakwood was doing to compensate their other guests, we were told by Sarah that she owes us nothing. What a load, Sarah. With all DUE respect, what a poor response 2) we would've stayed at an Airbnb if we didn't expect the amenities of a hotel/ "resort" - we were given hotel rooms with a parking lot view and charged the price of a lakefront room, request to rectify the price was denied and we were told we NEVER requested lakefront rooms. Liars, lol. See me for the email receipt, Sarah! Happy to provide. 2) Bennington An event coordinator of Bennington offered us wristbands granting us access to the event's unlimited food and drink accommodations due to our noticeable disappointment. Sarah ensured to let us know not to take advantage of this, as food and drinks are expensive. (?) this is offensive, honestly. We intended to consume what we please, regardless of cost as this is our vacation and we would not over-consume solely because of a free evenings meal lol Truly treated like second class citizens throughout this event. We understand Bennington is a significant event Oakwood holds, but a security guard came to our table to investigate us because he was told "outsiders who are not a part of Bennington are among us drinking our open bar tab and we want to make sure they aren't taking advantage" What kind of person grants a wristband as a courtesy and then has the nerve to insult them by sending a security guard? Garbage approach, would've rather paid to go to the Frog over being insulted. FYI - tipped the bartenders a total of 70$. Cheers! 3) Came to dinner and it is posted the restaurant goes until 1030. Our party split up and received three different responses: 1. You are able to order food until 10:15 2. Service is unavailable but you can order a meal to go and bring it to a dining room table 3. We won't serve you, sorry Lack of consistency is a real downfall in the service industry, watch out. Additionally, we ordered 3 sushi rolls we did NOT end up receiving and goes to show they were never ordered, and we were essentially SOL. The lobster bisque was cheesier than the awful lights for the indoor entertainment. For 120$ we had the privilege of ingesting a cute styrofoam bowl of lukewarm cheese and Walmart lobster meat. A treat and feast for all! Update - we were charged twice!!! :D We asked if we could have a fire started for us so we could remove ourselves and enjoy a drink and s'more. Approximately 45 min later, We had to go to the bar to order our drinks each and every time. We had to ask for menus. Amazing service and a fun venue, but the food is provincial, pretentious, and overpriced. We ordered the seafood pasta, and while we like clams, mussels, etc. and while we like coconut milk, this dish did not work at all. We also had the fresh oysters, which qualitywise were well below any oysters I've ever had: they appeared to have been rinsed off under the sink and were void of any flavor. The banana split and lava cake were both excellent. I will come back here for a drink, maybe dessert, and enjoy the beautiful view of the lake, but I cannot recommend the food to anyone. read more

This place has a weird vibe. If you don't dig that phrasing, you can skip this review, you might actually like the place. Very middle aged white male heavy though many of the servers have what seems to my untrained ear to be a Caribbean accent, which is surprising for northern Indiana. The servers are so welcoming and the bruschetta tasted like a thick store bought high preservative thing, like really disgusting. The muffins in the morn were that yucky Motel 6 free oddly squishy b/c of preservatives super sugary muffin situation. The place was getting ready for a boat conference, and had put the boat company name sign on top of the resort signs on the awning, so it was not the resort name, but the name of the boat company. ALL OVER. So much so that we thought we were at the wrong place, not the redort. The "beach" is minuscule, enough for one family total and then you'd feel like you were encroaching on their space. I did sleep well and the range of pillows was nice, but the shower had an ongoing leak and outside lights, perhaps for boat conference set-up, shined in through the window. The worst part for us, though maybe not for you, was when I went to enjoy my muffin and coffee on the "beach" Sunday morning and listen to the waves and birds and was inundated instead with a massive boat church with LOUD speakers that docks right in front of the resort's waterfront, on purpose. For an hour it was old white men saying Jesus died so that i could live, old white men singing, and a visiting old white man pastor with the ever original prayer for praying for struggling families and our country. By the way i was sitting as far as i could be, on an outdoor sofa away from this boat and the visiting boats, and still the sound was massive. When they were done i thought finally! but no, that was followed by more and more white men Christian music care of dj boat church and those terribly loud speakers. Definitely ruined what was intended to be my one quiet morning getaway without my children. At the end of boat church, the boat church welcomed and thanked the boat company that was having there conference there later that day. What is with the groveling to this boat company? A guy on another boat had gone by the night before and yelled "f*ck Bennington" or whatever the boat company name is. At this point, I did not disagree with him. And that is what I mean by this place has a weird vibe. Def the website should disclose that Sunday morning is not a quiet time on their outdoor area, say which denomination is taking over that space and from what times, and let people know when the conference is so they aren't involved in the fray of that if they do not want to be. No way is this a $270ish a night hotel (fyi they charge two different kinds of resort fees plus tax). read more

I stayed here for a wedding this weekend. The rooms were nice. They brightly painted and well lit. My biggest complaint of the stay is the room temperature. We had our air set to 68 and noticed it kept getting warmer and warmer in the room and my friend in another room had the same issues. It was up to 74 at one point with no airflow. I went downstairs to mention it to the front desk for the second time and a man was complaining at the front desk because his room was 81! So it wasn't just my room; however, the front desk didn't really help at all. They just said they couldn't fix it. Anyways...The workout room is not stellar but it will do in a pinch. There were 2 bikes, an elliptical, treadmill, free weights up to 25lbs and a Bowflex type machine, but the elliptical is broken (it doesn't go up to different heights). The grounds were very well groomed but the beach is extremely small for the amount of rooms at the resort. Overall a pleasant experience but I just feel that for the price you pay it would have been nice to feel comfortable in your own room with a properly functioning air condition. I would also encourage the Oakwood to list their amenities in the lobby somewhere. Was I allowed to use the firepit outside? What were the paddle less kayaks outside for? Can you rent those for free or does it cost? Is there free bike rentals? I didn't see any bikes? I was unsure of a lot of things. read more

Service this year much improved The food selection is very good too glad to see many healthier options available without flour or sugar Tiki is fun even though a little small on capacity. The floating piers however are horrible for boaters. They are chafing the hulls marring the gelcoat. The plastic peels onto the hull causing damage. Not enough cleats to tie up properly causing boats to bang the dock. Cleats at minimum should not be more than 12ft apart to allow proper tie up. They are too low to for driver visibility while docking. I see people struggling constantly. The heavy wave action particularly on weekends causes them to pitch and boats actually ride up over the top of the piers. We have stopped coming by boat would highly recommend going back to the former pier structure. Full time regulars here not seasonal. read more

Visited many hotels and resorts over the years, but this one is by far the worst we have ever visited. Room phone did not work. Some of the drinking water fountains did not work. Tables in the restaurant smelled of spoiled milk as did the menus laying on them. Apparently a dirty sponge was used to clean off the tables in between patrons. No exhaust fan in the bathroom so any odors from the bathroom permeated the entire room. We were on the second floor and while the windows opened, there were no screens on them which allowed both flying and crawling insects to enter the room. Had ironing board but no iron and had no hair dryer like even the most basic hotels have in their bathrooms. Vending machines for drinks and snacks were out of order. Rooms were all wood floors with no carpet or rugs and the walls were so thin, we could hear the folks next door with noisy and apparently rowdy kids that were constantly banging on something, sounding like tapping or hitting something on the wood floors and hitting the walls and often slamming the doors. This went on most of the night. Toilet is so low to the ground, you almost need a handicap rail on the wall to assist in getting up off of it. Toilet didn't completely flush most of the time and filled up so close to the rim before actually flushing we thought it was going to overflow. Continental breakfast was nothing to smile about either as the choices were extremely limited, often one main item with the rest fruit and cold cereal choices. Game rooms were always locked, even during regular hours necessitating having to have someone come up from the front desk to open it, most hotels let you access such places with your card key. The only two things that were acceptable, was the beds were comfortable and the shower was great. We will never go there again and will never recommend anyone else go there either. I came here with my friend's family, who are frequent visitors of the Oakwood Resort. It was a great experience. They have a lot of drink and food options. We sat outside on the patio with a view of the lake. Our server was really nice and attentive. We had a party of 8 so a lot of orders, but she brought our food and drinks out fairly quickly. I ordered the clam chowder soup and a salad. The soup was really good! No complaints here! read more

I hate to give this resort 2 stars but I just can't go higher based on the following. CONS 1.) The room smelled like urine. It hit my whole family when we entered the room. We went out and purchased air freshener immediately after check-in. 2.) There was a stain on the sheets of one of the beds..pic below. There was also some sort of gunk on the bathroom sink...pic also below. For a room that cost nearly $180 per night I expect the room to smell and be clean. 3.) Although I didn't find it to be an issue, my boyfriend said he was hearing noise from neighboring rooms, and from down the hall where there was a lounge space, from inside our room. He said he heard someone open a can of soda around 3am from a surrounding room. So note, you may hear your neighbors...this isn't too uncommon at hotels. 4.) Outside of the hotel restaurant, dining is VERY limited. We had a hard time finding a decent place that was kid friendly and not fast food. Shopping is even more limited...only Dollar General, Family Dollar, and CVS found to be open on Sunday. There were a couple small beach shops but odd hours. Ended up driving to Goshen for options. Not the hotel's problem but still a challenge for the area and price paid for the hotel. 5.) Unless you have a boat, want to swim, or plan to fish off a dock, prepare to drive a minimum of 20-60 minutes for entertainment. Pros: 1. We enjoyed the beach access and it wasn't too crowded. There was seating available. 2. The kayaks were available on the beach, though it seems there are possibly only 4 total. Still great since they are free. 3.) Check-In and Out was easy and associates were friendly. Plan to drop luggage at the door, and anyone disabled, parking is just a bit of a walk. 4.) The property is very pretty, even more so at night. 5.) Free cornhole and fire pits. We enjoyed both. read more

The Oakwood Resort played host to a retreat that I attended. Rooms were crazy spacious and clean. I could tell they had recently renovated. Staff was gracious and welcoming. The view was lakeside and gorgeous!! I look forward to a return visit in the summer! Had to remove a star. The heat didn't work in my room or most of the 2nd floor. Sorry, you should expect the heat to work when it's 22 degrees overnight. read more

We got a Groupon for Oakwood Resort and decided to make the 3-hour trek to Indiana from Chicago. The drive wasn't too bad, but we arrived in a spooky residential area at night, which was definitely not the resort, so we called Oakwood to get directions. The front desk staff was amazing and gave us excellent directions to the resort (they even stayed on the phone with us until we were almost at the resort). Check-in was breezy. We did have to pay an additional $10 in taxes on top of the Groupon price, which wasn't a big deal. To keep the review from looking like a paragraph essay, I'll break it down by pros and cons: Pros: 1). Friendly and efficient front desk staff. 2). Spacious, clean, nicely decorated room with very comfortable bed, bedding, and pillows. 3). All appliances (TV and coffee maker) in working condition. 4). Omelette bar and the very nice gentleman making our omelettes. Morning restaurant staff were all very pleasant and friendly. 5). The ultimate chocolate cake we ordered from the Pier and Back Porch restaurant was amazing. Probably the best I ever had. 6). Lake views surrounding the resort were beautiful. Cons: 1). No refrigerator or microwave in room. 2). No room service (we were able to order food from the restaurant, but had to physically go to the restaurant to pick it up). 3). Restaurant menu limited, especially for vegetarians. No pasta dishes. My sister ordered crab cakes for $14. She received three very small crab cakes that were not good at all. 4). Restaurant staff in the evening not very friendly. 5). Hotel fitness center was very basic with only one treadmill and two bikes. 6). Called in the morning to set up a massage, but was told they were booked until afternoon and they only had one massage room. This was really a bummer because I was looking forward to getting a massage here. We had to drive back out to Chicago at 12 pm, so we weren't able to try out the spa. 7). Shower head and poor water pressure were the biggest disappointment. Not what you'd expect from a resort. All in all, our stay was pleasant, but did not surpass our expectations. We may try it out again in the summertime when we can go out onto the lake. Hopefully by then some of the cons will have changed into pros . read more

After my other review we were contacted by the Resort, and they were very apologetic about our previous visit. While I was initially just venting, I'm glad they took the time to follow-up with us regarding our experience. We were offered a complimentary night to be used based on room availability. We thought about it and felt good about the fact that they reached out to us. So we went back this past Monday - Wednesday, and everyone was very friendly. This experience was so much better, and "No Construction!" Our daughter really enjoyed her time at the beach and just being outside in general. The room was perfect, and the weather was awesome. We ended up eating out the entire time, only because we really liked a few of the area restaurants from before. I had a blast the first night while having cocktails in the bar. I ended up meeting someone who was from Buffalo, New York where I used to work. We talked about different types of Bourbons, and where the best chicken wings could be found (North Tonawanda, NY). The drinks were perfect, and Josh was just as friendly as before. I'm glad we had the opportunity to come back and have a better experience. We are actually planning on coming back for a few more days before the summer is over. I think we've actually found the place where we want to visit a few times each year. Grounds and buildings are beautiful. From the outside, it looks like a relaxing spot. However, I'm not sure how you're supposed to get a good night's sleep here. I attended a wedding over the weekend, and while the grounds, the rooms, and the venues are really superb, when it comes time to sleep, you're going to be hearing every little noise in your room. The lobby is open to all three floors of the hotel. You'll be hearing every group that's coming in and out--all night. Even smaller groups that are talking amongst themselves, with the area open and thin walls, the sound travels right up and into your room. If you're getting guests at the hotel that are attending one of the two venues for an event, you can forget getting any peaceful rest. Every word, every footstep--not relaxing in the slightest. Even those just talking normally walking down the hall--right through the paper-thin walls. On the other side of the building, you have the courtyard and bar. So, if your room faces the courtyard, you'll be getting constant noise from the courtyard, the bar, as well as the hotel lobby. You can't win. The well-lit courtyard is nice when you're actually in the courtyard, but if you're in your room, the security lighting lights up the entire room. They have blinds (that still let a large amount of the light through), but no drapes or blackout curtains. Drove a long way for a beautiful wedding, but unfortunately, wasn't able to relax before making the long drive home. read more

First time here and very nice resort. Friendly staff and place was really laid out nicely. Rooms are clean and good sized. This town seems like a summer town with all the boats and docks. The only two minor items would be lack of hot water for the shower(was warm but not hot) and the tile floors don't feel the same as carpet on your feet. I prefer carpet but understand the hard floor given the potential for sand from the small beach. Plenty of free parking and great outdoor eating. We ate dinner and breakfast at the big restaurant and the staff was really friendly. Caught a solid live musician on Friday night and the bar was singing along. There are about 4-5 different fire pits along the lake next to the outdoor dining area. There are piles of firewood available to add as needed. Just a very scenic place with great views of the lake. Get up early and grab a seat outside to see the sunrise over the lake. Really nice view and great way to start the day. We even saw a pair of white swans cruising around the lake. read more

Stayed here for a couple of days over this Memorial Day Weekend. They would get 5 stars except 1) we never ever had any maid service, nobody ever cleaned our room. 2) TV remote for the 2 tv's did not work right, bedroom TV you could turn on but not change channel and the one in living room would not even turn the TV on. We took the one from bedroom and it worked on living room TV but not the one from living room on bedroom TV. You think somebody when the room is cleaned between guests would check that sort of stuff. read more

Just spent a nite at this lovely hotel. All Covid precautions were being observed and used by all. We ate a meal outside and everyone seated were spaced apart, wait staff wearing masks and fabulous view of water. Enjoyed two meals at the restaurant and food was delicious! Our room had hairs in the bathtub when we checked in and the floor looked and felt dirty. The bathroom floor also dragged on the floor outside the bathroom and was chipping at the flooring. The peep hole in the room was dark and didn't work which is a safety hazard. The vending machine on our floor didn't work. The mini fridge in our room leaked and we had to mop it up all weekend. The mask mandate isn't enforced, as only about 50% of guests wore masks around the hotel. Our server at the restaurant had their mask below their chin the entire time they served us and patrons were allowed to use the buffet without masks. Loved it!! Perfect weekend get away to refresh and restore. Went with friends. Located in a remote 'sleeper' town. The facility is beautiful and we'll kept. Approx 90 rooms. Each room well decorated roomy. Staff is friendly and know the area well. The pics are accurate. Located right on the lake. Landscaping includes a gazebo, perfect for pics. Has a small fitness center. Only one treadmill, 2 bikes and a cross country elliptical that was a little wobbly. Free s'mores to make on on the fire pit. Yummy. Spa is small, so make appointments early. Restaurant on site had a great lunch menu. Breakfast was not quite as appealing do we skipped. It was a buffet. $12 bucks was a bit much for eggs, biscuits and hash browns. Overall, the place was very nice. Will definitely go back. Walk path around the facility. Free bikes and helmets. So-so. We have been coming to oakwood for a number of years. My husband and I enjoy coming for our anniversary for a little getaway. This year was disappointing. The room was not clean like we are use to. A dirty cleaning towel was left in the bathroom, the windows looking out to the lake were extremely dirty and the room had a gross smell. Just seems unkept. The front desk and breakfast attendants were unfriendly which is also not standard for the oakwood we know and love for the last 6+ years. The boat ride is no longer offered to the guests. For $200 a night we discussed finding a new location destination. read more

I stayed here for what was supposed to be relaxing getaway! Room was Dirty and noise from beach right outside the window was ridiculous! Pier area was a mess, under construction, limited boat space, staff dock helpers want tips each time they see you! Bar is full of loud drunks, don't plan on sleeping! Complained but never heard back! In town for a wedding at the resort on Saturday, and a bunch of us come in early on Friday. We finally all gather around 11:30 and head to the bar in the hotel. Randy the bartender could not have been more pissed and unwelcoming that we were in his bar and wanted us out. We asked him repeatedly to stay open, but he said we weren't tipping him enough. When we offered him 100 bucks to stay open for an hour, he refused that as well. Who the hell tells someone that they aren't tipping them enough? (We definitely were, BTW) and what service industry worker refuses 100 dollars for one hour? We just all couldn't believe it. A lot of just hadn't seen each other in awhile, and just wanted to hang out. We had talked to a different staff member about this, and she said "Randy is very temperamental." Randy made it very clear that we were not welcome in his bar. Maybe it's time for a new line of work? As far as the rest of the place: The rooms are nice and they have good soap, just stay out of the bar. read more

Every year my girlfriends and I pick a new place to get together for a long weekend. This year it was the Oakwood Resort. Oakwood was super pretty. The rooms were spacious and really cute! We had two adjoining rooms on the first floor that were perfect for hanging out and playing cards. I liked that we each had a table and two chairs. Perfect for when we wanted to eat snacks, drink, and get loud. The beds were a little soft for my liking and I didn't like that the ice machine was on the second floor. We didn't spend much time in the game room, but some of the games weren't working. We did do some time in the spa; two of us got pedicures while the other two got massages. If you opt for the spa, book early. They had nothing for Saturday and had to stagger us on Sunday. My absolute favorite thing about the resort (well, other than the gorgeous view), is this coconut salt scrub that they have in the restrooms. Omg my hands felt so soft and smooth! The front desk had free samples which rocked our world. It's the small things, folks. If you're looking for a cute, relaxing, pretty reasonable place to hang out for the weekend, I'd recommend Oakwood. April prices are about half the price compared to peak season! read more

This place was beautiful! It was perfect for a wedding- there is an event building next to the hotel, able to accommodate a wedding and reception. The hotel itself is super cute! The rooms are light and airy with updated features, like a Keurig machine and big screen TV. The service was friendly and accommodating - exactly what you'd expect from a small town in Indiana. There is a bar on sight for a great after party but there are also other options close by. This resort is located right on a lake, with lots of trees and houses nearby to keep it interesting and beautiful. Plenty of picture taking options. If you are looking for a destination wedding that all your friends and family can attend- this is pretty perfect. An easy 2.5 hour drive from Indy. read more

Stayed here over the weekend for a wedding and overall it was a very nice stay. Grounds and facility are well cared for, rooms were decent sized and clean. Location on the lake is very nice and has nice additions for the guests to use - firepit, chairs and such all lakeside. Staff was very nice and not hard to find at all - entire place was well staffed and always willing to help. Overall, nice place that I would stay at again if I was in the area. read more

This is one of my favorite places to go. I took my sister and my daughters and they loved it. This place has so many wonderful things to do. Always lots of entertainment. My only fault is that the restaurant along with the breakfast is very expensive. Make sure you have plenty money or a credit card before eating. Otherwise beautiful read more

The beds are sooo comfy. Hated to get up. The hotel is so clean, quiet and the lake is so serene.

We came for a 1-night stay for a wedding in October 2019. The room was super cute, clean and comfortable. The restaurant had great drinks and food. The views of the lake are beautiful. But, the thing that stood out above all else was what happened after we checked out. I accidentally forgot my most sentimental jewelry next to the bedside: my wedding ring, my grandmother's wedding ring, and my diamond earrings I was gifted after having my son. Before I even unpacked my bags and realized they weren't with me, the resort called and let me know that housekeeping found my jewelry and they would mail it to me. They sent it 2-day shipping and didn't even ask for money to pay shipping. Thank God for such good and honest people! I would recommend Oakwood Resort to anyone who is looking to stay in the area. read more
