Food is always a 10/10. Beautiful presentation, hot food served fresh (not left on a warmer and crusty) flavorful, grilled/cooked perfectly. Best chef in town. Bartenders make great drinks. Building is historic, photos showcasing its history on the walls are really cool. It's a little dark, and usually crowded, but comfy. Waitresses are professional, friendly, and polite. We got there at 4:30 when they opened. Asked for a booth (all 12 booths were empty). Hostess at front told us she was told not to give a booth to 2 people. Not sure why, but she finally gave us a booth. Was told the booth we were in was reserved for 5:30. Waitress kept coming by to removed our plates. We were there till 5:40 and during that time the so called reservation never came and all the booths were empty. Food was skimpy, service aggravating. Will NEVER go back there again. read more

The food was ok but the lack of service is why I'm giving this place 1 star. Our waitress Dana was one of the worst we have ever experienced. We had to ask 4 times for water. She actually came to get our order which we all ordered meals with salad and a side and we had to ask her again for water and still didn't get it. After about an hour another waitress brought our meat out but we had still never gotten our water yet and we told her and she felt horrible and immediately went and got us some. Then when she came back with it we told her we had never gotten our salads or the other sides we ordered. She was incredible and immediately took care of it. The bad waitress never apologized she just said she's so busy. They weren't that horribly busy. We will never go back. read more

I cannot say enough about this restaurant! We had a reservation fall through at another location and they immediately accommodated 10 people on a Saturday night. We got the calamari, potato skins, goat cheese marinara, and firecracker shrimp apps, and then the burgers and tortellini entrees. It was delicious! read more

One of my favorite spots in the area. The food is very good and the service is friendly and attentive, but what I love most is the atmosphere - classy and warm. It's the kind of place you could spends hours in just soaking it all in. I sure love that calamari. Afterwards you can go upstairs to Danny's for a completely different atmosphere. The Barbee Hotel is a historic, iconic, fun place to visit and enjoy a great meal, with excellent service at a very reasonable price. I asked to have a large rare order of prime rib blackened and broiled to a medium temperature. It seemed that everyone in our area paused to listen to the sizzling, smell the flavors and see my reaction to the colossal meal put in front of me. That was the best prime rib dinner ever! The chef made a visit to the table to make sure we were all pleased with our meals. We will definitely return and recommend friends to the Barbee Hotel restaurant. The late night crowd is also a lot of fun with karaoke singing and dancing till midnight every Friday and Saturday night. Danny's sports bar is on the second story of the hotel. We love to meet up and hang out with fun people so this place is perfect for that. Danny's bartender girls are all gorgeous, friendly and a lot of fun. Really enjoyed a recent dinner here. The pork chop was over 2 inches thick, and was juicy and very flavorful. Had a pan prepared Brussels sprout side dish with a cup of clam chowder. Everything was excellent. Other members of the party had grilled salmon - wow what a huge piece, pan-fried walleye, and herb-roasted chicken. Everything was uniformly good including the sides. Even the dinner rolls were good. Had a chocolate lava cake w/ice cream for dessert. Overall very good meal and reasonably priced for the quality of the food. The atmosphere is very dark which was quite noticeable as many patrons had to use their phones to read the menu. Other really quirky thing is that the chairs have roller casters on them. Ill start off by saying the Duck Drumettes were VERY good though the Parmesan Sauce (very lemoned Mayo) they are served with is not. The Walleye was also very good. I decided to take my father here for his 56th Birthday, he had wanted to visit here most of his life. I was so excited to be able to do this for him. We were looked up and down by the regular laker crew. Mind you we did dress business casual other than my dad that looks alot like Si from Duck Dynasty :) I had my kids which it was supposed to be kid friendly (LOL) I had to ask several times for a kids menu and after 20mins and the third time we got it. The shrimp cocktail is very expensive, nearly $3 a shrimp and at best are a typical jumbo, but was good. We asked the server a few menu item questions, her reply each time was she didn't know. My husband got the ribeye which had no seasoning other than being charred black. The mashed potatoes were very pasty. The kids got chicken strips and fries and seemed very pleased with them. My father and I got the walleye which was said to have come with two sides. Which on the check I was charged for the sides. The risotto was good. I however was served a baked potato that was split and and rotten inside. I wouldn't say we had great service nor great food. I regret not just going to Fort Wayne, that was the same distance for me and having a more welcoming atmosphere, better service and better food. What a disappointment. read more

We made reservations but when we showed up, they said we weren't on the list. We had planned this get together for days so this was very disappointing. The hostess said she could seat us but the table was reserved for someone else at 8. We said we could be finished by then and accepted the table. We were wrapping up and planning on leaving when the hostess came to our table to tell us we needed to leave. We were totally embarrassed. It's not a big place so everyone could hear her telling us to leave. We were obviously the unwanted guests and so appreciated that being made public. I am still so embarrassed. Stayed at the hotel for Valentine's Day. I do not recommend staying at the hotel. Our room was 316 and right above the bar. The noise level was extremely loud. Went for brunch on Fathers Day. Severely underwhelming. Eggs Benedict for $13 gets you one half of an English muffin. Tasted great but not for $13 for 1/2 an English muffin. 3 strips of bacon that had a fish taste to it. Didn't remember toast I ordered. Had to wait for that to be made. Aside from bacon, the food tasted great, however I left feeling we got shorted for what we spent. Servers were very nice but the service was very slow. Been coming here for years with my folks for hit and miss experiences through different ownerships. Id have to say last nights meal was quite tasty. Kept it simple and on the less expensive with their club sandwich and it was quite delicious. Wife went with the cob salad which looked fresh and she liked. Their Reuben looked like a real big boy sandwich. Cocktail was a bit watered down and service got worse and worse throughout the dinner...never even got my second drink. Bill took forever to get. Im sure i'll be back based on location. Dont forget you can order Dannys Pizza from here as well...cant go wrong their and a more pleasant dining environment. read more

I ordered a flat iron steak, which turned out to be rancid. It smelled so bad, I knew something was wrong when they put it in front of me. I can't imagine how the cooks didn't smell it while it was on the grille. On top of their (the cook's) negligence, a manager never came out to talk to us. It was simply taken from the bill then the waitress apologized and asked if we wanted dessert. What?! I wonder how many other people were served rancid meat or became ill due to cross contamination in the kitchen.
