Cocktail (spicy one but made with less spice)
    Jace P.

Solid spot for sushi and drinks. Food: Fresh, flavorful, and nicely presented. The poke topped roll (wailea firecracker) was the best! Drinks: Tropical cocktail was smooth and well-balanced--not overly sweet. Service: Attentive and quick, especially at the bar. Ambiance: Modern, lively, and a bit upscale--good for both casual nights and dates. Overall: Great sushi, good vibes, and strong drinks. Would come back. It is expensive so recommend going during happy hour (12-5).

Solid happy hour. Everything we got was delicious. Veggie tempura, spicy hamachi, assorted nigiri. Highly recommended for that. Regular prices are a bit hefty, even for the area. Grateful for the happy hour pricing, especially after seeing a $48 rainbow roll.

Pros: outstanding food, great service, excellent (and deadly) cocktails; convenient location to nearby hotels; reasonable price Cons: reservations recommended. What a great find in the area. Our concierge at the Andaz recommended reservations here and I'm so grateful that she did. We really had an outstanding experience that quite frankly surpasses KOMO at the Four Seasons, especially bc the price is so much more reasonable. The sushi was deliciously prepared with very generous portions and the rolls were creative and delicious. Cocktails were also terrific although I highly recommend you stick to Lyft/Uber or have a designated driver! There's not really viable dessert options but hey, you are at a sushi restaurant and you can always grab ice cream back at your hotel. For couples, would recommend reserving the bar as it was really fun to watch the chefs. Reservations are really a must, particularly for groups, as this is clearly a popular spot with the locals as well. Overall, highly recommended!

Best sushi we have ever had hands down. We were visiting Maui and got recommended this place by the workers at our hotel. Everyone was explaining it as the best of the best. We check it out and got the nigiri omakase. Such an amazing experience and we were so happy that is what we got. So fresh and feels so lux. The service was friendly and helpful. 1000% will recommend to everyone going to Maui. We recommended it everyone else on our trip and everyone went and felt the same way we did. A must try

Best. Sushi. Ever. My boyfriend and I came here right as they opened and literally drove around the island just for this restaurant! The sushi melts in your mouth, the happy hour pricing is quite fair, and the talent of the sushi chefs really shines through! I will recommend this place to EVERYONE going to Maui.

This restaurant deserves a 10/10! I wish I could rate it higher than 5 stars. I have been to Maui hundreds of times and eaten at tons of restaurants and nothing has ever left me wishing I had room for more or dreaming about the next time I can come back! I am not a wing girl. But I am going to vote this best to least fav. (There is no least fav it was all phenomenal) 1. The Japanese wings! The best wings I've ever had in my entire life and it topped everything we tried. I don't know but the chicken was so tender it just melted in your mouth, and that flavor OMG! 2. Whatever roll we had off the happy hour menu 12-5 that had scallops! Soooo good 3. The dynamite dish on happy hour with scallops, zucchini, mushrooms, that sauce was ughhhhhhhh. Yummy 4. The rice cakes (I got the fish that starts with an H...... sorry lots of info) very good and voted one of their most popular menu items. 5. Edamame very flavorful 6. Softcrab roll....... It was all so unbelievably good

Best sushi of our sushi snob lives! Over the years, we've turned into Sushi snobs. Not only that, but we nearly always have to get the Omakase ("Leave it to the chef") wherever we go. Until we came to Oao, our favorite had been Nobu, down the road in Wailea. Well, I am here to tell you that, hands-down, there is a new gold medalist in town! The quality, presentation and taste--every single course--knocked it out of the ballpark! And, much to our surprise, the last Main course of Wagyu beef was a veritable grand slam! We came for the Sushi, but never in my life have i tasted such heavenly steak! The exceptionally aloha-friendly staff, such as Ronson and Iggy, were above and beyond helpful. Add to my snobbery my pallet for a good sake. Well, Iggy was able to steer me to an exceptionally perfect Daiginzo brew to complement our Omakase feast of the evening. Be sure to include an order of mussels, and you can't go wrong with anything Hamachi, such as the carpaccio. The atmosphere is somewhat traditional sushi bar, with an aloha flair. It is not very spacious, and will fill up in both guests and noise. Tune those out and you'll be fine. By the way, be sure to make reservations! A Word of warning, this is a sushi bar in the heart of Maui, and is it priced accordingly. That said, it is well, well worth the splurge!

We were taken care of by Dwayne at the bar. He was quick and attentive while making drinks. Our food came out super quickly and delicious. He recommended carpaccio, def my favorite. The Japanese wings were crispy and full of flavor. One of the more memorable sushi spot.

My friend surprised me with a trip to Maui, so I wanted to return the gesture and treated her to dinner here! I already knew I'd be spending a bit since it's in Wailea, but honestly, the prices weren't as steep as I expected--and everything was really solid. They serve more than just sushi, which is a plus. I started with an uni shooter (a must for me--since not every sushi spot offers it), and it was actually pretty good! We followed up with some carpaccio, which was decent. We also tried a couple rolls and an entrée--don't remember exactly what it was, but it was delectable. And dessert? An absolute killer. Overall, this place has a laid-back, family-style vibe. It's not a super high-end sushi spot, but it's cozy, welcoming, and definitely worth checking out.

We made reservations for a Monday night since it is recommended if you want to sit at the sushi counter. The place is an upscale sushi rest with high end sushi, including a few cuts coming all the way from Japan. You can order a la carte but they also offer omakase which has to be reserved 24 hours in advanced. Prices are as expected with high end sushi. We ordered Miso Soup, Creamy Scallop Roll, Soft Shell Crab Roll, Specialty Firecracker Roll and a few nigiri (we were 2 persons). Everything was exceptional and each piece melted in your mouth. Great ambiance, a complete bar service besides sake. Since we were at the sushi counter we were able to interact with the chefs which completes nicely a sushi experience. Everyone from chefs to waiters and hostess made this experience extraordinary.

Great place for fresh fish! The unagi was great! We had 5 servings! The Seafood Dynamite was amazing, the Brussels sprouts were yummy and the lobster was tender. My son loved the hamachi carpaccio. The unagi avocado roll (without the rice) was really good! Very small portions. We went for happy hour and dropped over $300!

I don't say this lightly because my husband lived in Japan and we've visited for sushi. This is hands down the best I've had in my life. Brilliant chefs who are knowledgeable and will help with a choice, delicious incredibly fresh fish, and an awesome vibe. A small touch, but we love ama ebi (sweet shrimp) and they clean the heads absolutely perfectly. I wish I could tag the photos better but we order several options from the specials and they don't disappoint.

I literally have nothing but high praise for this restaurant!!! Oh my god. If you're visiting and thinking about going to Nobu, for the love of god do not. Go here instead!!!! This place blew Nobu out of the water and it wasn't even close. The food, service and vibe here was literally so perfect. I can't get over how amazing EVERY DISH was and how fresh the fish here is in Hawaii. Seriously can't wait to visit here again!

I had Thai-Railway Fried Rice, which has diced, cooked NY steak chunks, in a bed of brown rice, as well as peas, carrots, scallions, Maui onions (yum!), with an egg over easy on top, with toasted onions. I dialed the spicyness at "medium". It was *perfect*! My wife had Pad Thai with chicken, and she left it at the default spicyness (medium), which ended up being too hot for her, but she soldiered on nevertheless enjoying the wonderful flavor. Perhaps because of the noodles and curry, the spiciness of the Pad Thai seemed much stronger than the Thai-Railway fried rice dish. Of course, we had leftovers and I'll probably end up eating hers, and she'll eat mine. The service was prompt, and the girl waiting on the tables was courteous, with a beautiful smile. The restaurant is deceptively roomy, seeming to be smaller from the outside, but once inside, it was quiet, clean, with comfortable chairs, clean tables, and large windows to enjoy some of Kihei's views (like today's gentle rain). As with most things these day on Maui, where everything comes in a shipping container, food costs are very noticable. Our meal, including thai ice tea and a soda, with a coconut ice-cream to finish it was about $44/person. Not cheap, but also not as bad as, say, Tommy Bahamas.

Long post: starts with below expectations, and it finishes with highlights…read more We had a highly anticipated dinner last night at Morimoto Maui, and I think that Iron Chef Morimoto would be as disappointed as we were -- if not more so. We opted for the Omakake (Tasting) Menu along with the Wine Pairing for each course. We knew it would be expensive (prices intentionally deleted), but we felt it would be a wonderful experience. We have eaten at Morimoto at Sea on several Holland America Line ships, including our recent cruise on HAL's Nieuw Amsterdam that has a dedicated Morimoto Restaurant mid-ship on deck 11 -- those meals have always been fantastic. Back to last night. Disappointment #1 -- The wine for the first course arrived 5 minutes before Course 1, the Toro Tartare. The wine had lost most of its coolness, and intended flavor and aroma, by time the dish arrived. Disappointment #2 -- The Intermezzo dish, the Sudachi cucumber sorbet was a bit sour. Other intermezzi that I have had were a slightly sweet, perhaps lime or lemon sorbet. AND they typically were paired with a splash of champagne or a sparkling brut (why not include the Morimoto Dream Rosè?) Disappointment #3 -- Course 5, the Surf & Turf, was bad! The very small portion of the Wagyu beef was Medium Well to Well Done and appeared to have been burnt over a flame. When we told our server, his comment was, "That's why I recommended the Japanese A5 Wagyu [at an additional $80 per person!]." Sorry burnt beef if burnt beef, no matter what the price. Training/Expectations seem low: Where do they get their water glasses? On the discount table at Walmart? These two are different styles on the same table; at least our two were the same style, although different from those two. And the dessert spoons -- two different styles given to us. I expect (and I am sure others also do) a much higher standard at this famous Iron Chef restaurant. DELIGHTS: Course 1 - The Toro Tartare was so tasty. We are used to a tartare to be chopped, perhaps even finely chopped, but this one was made into a puree. The toppings (caviar and rice crackers were tasty, and the rice crackers looked like little sweet ice cream toppings. Course 2 - Red Snapper Carpaccio was liked by someone who does not normally like raw fish. The light sauce added a subtle dash of flavor, and we were able to roll the pieces with chop sticks and heat an entire price at once. Course 3 - Lobster Takoyaki. The three "lobster balls" were served warm, and they were very tasty. A large piece of lobster in each roll was a true delight. Course 4 - Sushi. The 5 pieces of nigiri were Chu Toro, Hamachi, Salmon, Campachi, and Big Eye Tuna. There was a light smear of wasabi between the fish and the rice; I had already asked for more (and hotter) wasabi that I mixed with the soy sauce. We brought a few pieces of the sushi back to the condo for a later snack. Course 6 -- the dessert was so-so in my opinion. Sharon liked it, so it was probably just my tastebuds and not the actual dessert. We had planned to go back to Morimoto Maui next week for a special Wagyu and Wine pairing, but based on last night's Wagyu failure, we have cancelled the reservation. I hope that our next dinner at a stateside Morimoto restaurant (probably Morimoto Napa in 4 weeks) is a much better experience for us.

It has become part of our story, and every visit continues to feel just as meaningful and memorable as the first. The setting is absolutely stunning. Between the beautifully designed interior and the outdoor seating overlooking the beach in front of the Four Seasons, it creates one of the most romantic date-night settings on Maui. The food never misses the mark. We started with an English pea soup that was exquisitely seasoned and beautifully balanced. I followed with the Broiled Miso Marinated Walu, tender, delicate, mildly sweet, served with sesame sauce and crisp cucumbers that added the perfect contrast. The rack of lamb was juicy, tender, and cooked perfectly. Dessert was unforgettable: the "Spikey Lemon" calamansi cake with yuzu curd and crunchy meringue, plus freshly baked donuts that arrived crispy, warm, and drenched in a divine chocolate sauce. Pure heaven. But what truly sets Spago apart, and what makes each visit unique, is the front-of-house staff. Over the years we've been lucky enough to be served by both Jeb and Mikayla. Jeb was also our waiter on our wedding night, which made seeing him again feel especially meaningful. He has a rare gift: he makes guests feel genuinely special. His knowledge of the menu is remarkable, he reads the flow of a meal perfectly, and he is charming, funny, and effortlessly attentive without ever being overbearing. What keeps us coming back isn't just the food or the atmosphere. it's the impeccable hospitality. One moment we'll never forget: on our wedding night, after I mentioned I was Austrian, Jeb surprised us with a Kaiserschmarrn. It was unexpected, thoughtful, and one of those gestures that instantly lets you know you're more than just another table. You're valued. Thank you to the front-of-house staff, thank you to the kitchen, and thank you, Wolfgang Puck, for creating a place that has become such an important part of our lives. We'll keep coming back.

The staff are kind, friendly and even offered area activity recommendations. The ocean view is incredible-- it can be enjoyed best on the patio, and from many of the indoor tables. The buffet includes unlimited coffee, tea, juices (love the POG juice), coke products (you can ask for a to go cup on your way out! I recommend asking for ice)-- as well as a made to order omelet. Then there is the entire buffet. As a vegetarian, I had plenty of options. Loved the avocado toast bar-- it was so flavorful! I loved the scones were different flavors each day. I eat eggs, so I sometimes had the scramble, sometimes a veggie omelet (I liked to top it with parmesan cheese from the avocado toast bar). I enjoyed the breakfast potatoes (they changed them up a bit each day), and the variety of salads. They even had a marinaded tofu! The place is kid friendly. There is a parking garage.

Humble Market Kitchen feels like a restaurant that knows it has a captive audience and has stopped trying very hard. The food was uninspired, generic, and significantly overpriced for what was delivered. Nothing was particularly bad, but almost nothing was memorable either. Breakfast was especially underwhelming. Skip the buffet. The eggs were watery and soupy, and the "Hawaiian sausage" turned out to be little more than sliced hot dogs. For a resort of this caliber in a destination known for incredible food, it felt surprisingly low effort. Service was probably the strongest part of the experience, but even that was average at best. I'd call it a 6 out of 10. Friendly enough, but not the level of hospitality you'd expect given the prices and setting. The disconnect is especially noticeable because the Wailea Beach Resort itself is fantastic. We genuinely loved our stay and would absolutely return to the property. That's what makes the restaurant so disappointing. It feels like a business operating inside a great resort rather than an extension of the resort experience. If you're staying at the Wailea Beach Resort, do yourself a favor and explore the many excellent dining options around Wailea instead. Maui has too many great restaurants to spend your vacation settling for this one.
