Wow amazing food, service, ambience! Isana is just around the corner in Kihei from the Maui Bay Villas property of the Hilton Grand Vacations time share property. Food was excellent! We ordered a whole bunch of dishes. Garlic noodles, sushi nigiri (fresh fish), we loved it so much and wanted to try another group of different dishes we missed the first time. Each experience was equally tasty! Would definitely recommend this place! Go early and just make reservations. It goes quicker. Seems to be a local Kihea favorite! We had actually wanted to go to Pita paradise, which is now closed, but we read that Isana was under the same owner, and they were able to accomodate our large party of 12 on a Sunday night. Isana has a wide variety on their Japanese and sushi menu. They also have a full bar. Rolls: it looks like white rice, but there is some vinegar in it. Roll sizes were pretty big. - Umi roll: with soft shell crab, tuna, unagi - Salmon skin roll: kid friendly - Andy's king dragon roll: tempura shrimp and crab mix, unagi - Hoaloha roll: spicy tuna, avocado, topped with seared hamachi Cooked food: - Tonkatsu ramen: noodles had a good texture, the broth had a hint of miso? - Kampachi kama: a big portion, with a good soy and scallion dipping sauce - Hamachi kama: similar to the above; both were limited in quantity - Garlic prawn noodles: 5 large shrimp, yakisoba noodles, lots of veggies, which is nice because I always feel like I need more vegetables when in Hawaii Service was friendly, and food came out pretty quickly. We found Isana on our last night in Maui and wish we had gone sooner. The space feels like it may have once been a teppan spot, but don't judge it on that. The food is what matters and it's excellent. You can truly taste how fresh the fish is, which makes sense given it's fisherman-owned. We had spicy tuna hand rolls and a mix of nigiri including kanpachi, sake, bigeye tuna, and hamachi. Everything was clean, fresh, and really well executed. Bonus points for having kizami wasabi. The bigeye with kizami wasabi was a standout. Our son ordered the tonkotsu pork ramen and loved it. Service was just as good as the food. Winnie took great care of us and made the whole experience even better. Friendly service, great ocean view, and seriously fresh fish. Definitely worth a visit. read more

Came here for dinner on a whim. We were in the area and didn't want anything low-level or too expensive. Searched and up popped Isana. This hit the spot. They were quite busy so as walk-ins my wife and I sat at the bar. Both bartenders were crazy friendly. We got some very basic "American" rolls: California and Shrimp Tempura rolls. And edemame to start. All were fantastic. And this place faces the water so really nice views out the front. Go for a great meal and a great view!!! read more

More hype than substance. I came in expecting quality sushi and sashimi and left disappointed. The food didn't live up to expectations, and the atmosphere felt cold and unwelcoming. Service was standoffish and came with a "big city" attitude rather than any sense of Aloha hospitality. I booked the earliest reservation available but we ended up arriving a lot earlier and they were able to accommodate us! The waitress was super attentive and nice. We got the broke da mouth sushi roll with the fresh catch opaka fish which was delicious. The garlic noodles were yummy and the shrimp were HUGE! The fish and chips were with the opaka catch was fine- nothing special to note. Parking was easy and labeled around the restaurant. read more

Hard to believe I have never written a review for Isana. This is our "GO TO' place when we have visitors that want delicious fresh sushi. It is our "Go To" for special occasions and some random Thursday evening and happy hour and... you get the picture. We come here at least monthly. The vibe is casual and friendly. This place is very popular with locals because it is reasonably priced, has super fresh fish and craftmanship in all their dishes. They have two Happy Hours a day which helps with costs. My favorite anything is hamachi everything. The crab cakes deserve a special mention as they are rather fabulous. The last time we went we had fish and chips. Who would think to order this at a sushi place? Mind blown. BTW- great sunset ocean views! read more

High quality fish and higher quality cooking. The soft shell crab karaage was fab. The batter was so light and airy. The miso butterfish was such a delicate dish and so flavorful. Three of us enjoyed a Happy Hour dinner in April 2025. One of us had a very nice Ribeye Steak with rice and grilled asparagus and carrots; another diner had Tempura Shrimp and tempura asparagus and Japanese pumpkin. I had Nigiri Sushi of Bigeye Tuna, Hamachi, Salmon Roe, Uni, and Amaebi with crisp fried heads. All of our meals were delicious and the Sushi Chef made very generous servings of the fish on the Nigiri rice! Liz served us very well, at our dining pace. Love love loveddd the food!! Our family of 6 came in to eat here an we're not disappointed. Food came out SO fast (but not too fast) and everything was delicious. I ordered the tuna avocado rolls as well as shared a plethora of food with my family. The dish that stood out the most to me was the ribeye steak pupu...absolutely delicious. And I'm not even that big of a meat eater! I also enjoyed the Li Hing Mui Mango Margarita. SO GOOD!! Tasted exactly how I expected it too. Came here for happy hour with my boyfriend while vacationing in Maui.. in the end we left with a happy full belly! We started off with happy hour drinks.. then the miso soup.. since something soupy is always what we like.. the miso soup is really good.. The sushi was fresh and they have fresh wasabi too!! Back home not a whole lot of places have fresh wasabi. I'll get it at every sushi place that carries them.. let me tell you, this place is a hidden gem in Kihei.. first time in Maui and this place was also close to where we staying.. the vibe here was chill with Hawaiian music playing in the background and we got some great lighting for foodie pictures (me of course, even tho my boyfriend is the actual photographer) I'm Just a poser.. service was awesome!! the server came around often and ask how's the food and if we wanted to order anything else couple time and before happy hour ends.. ordering off the happy hour menu was enough to get our filling fixed.. you can taste the freshness of the sashimi too! Just an update on this Kihei sushi sunset restaurant. They take large groups of up to 14/16 adding a 20% gratuity. Great quick service, separate checks if you tell them ahead of time, they'll even sing and provide dessert service if you bring a BD cake. This restaurant checks off all the boxes. Food was delicious, our server Mike was very personable and attentive. Upon entering the restaurant it was very soothing and inviting. The owner happened to be at the hosted stand and was eager to tell us they just received from fresh oysters. So of course when it came time to order I HAD to get one o my one because it was $7 a pop but worth it. My hamachi avocado roll was delish along with all dishes we ordered. The fried rice was the best I had anywhere and large enough to feed 4 of us with plenty to bring home. A big added bonus was the view right across from the beach and we were there for the sunset beautiful. If you love sushi go you won't be disappointed. Immediate food and high quality sushi! So you can you park in any stall around the property as long as it doesn't say "reserved." You can also use your $50 Resy Credit for the restaurant. The place is more expensive than your average sushi bar but the quality of the fish is high. There are $15 sushi rolls and $30+ premium sushi rolls. We measured that two of the cheaper rolls are about as much food as the premium rolls if you want quantity. The food was delicious and the fish was very fresh and the fried rice had extreme garlic for all you garlic lovers. When we ordered, it felt like the food came out the next minute, wow. Went for sushi and misoyaki butterfish. Butterfish was rich, nicely seasoned with white miso but the sushi was awful. They seasoned our sushi with so much vinegar saying it was vinegar forward is an understatement. The sushi rolls were like eating vinegar straight out of the bottle. The traditional Japanese vinegar seasoning is for a subtle hint to compliment the fish. Not at this place. Plus the sushi rice was dry like it had been left out and uncovered for hours. Our server was bomb (and I so wish I remembered her name!). Honestly, happy hour is great but we ended up ordering off the regular menu.
