Last Saturday our AC went out on our second floor, I called so many people trying to just get someone to come to our home as I have two small children and it was over 100 degrees outside. Prompt service, 175 to clean out my dryer vent and wanted to charge 150 to replace the aluminum duct to back of dryer!!!! I said why so expensive since the material is about 10.00 at Lowe's. He said "Labor"... I politely said NO.. that is really inflated for a 2 second job can do myself.... nice guy but really price gouging his customers.. I just hope my vent is actually cleaned out...update 8/29/19 for the owner... not only was the overpriced job not complete, I had to pay another more reputable company to come out and ensure the vents was cleaned. I would give 0 stars if I could. I went with this guy based off of what the rest of the 5 star reviews he was given and clearly that was the WORST thing I could have done. My air conditioner is still not working and was clearly misdiagnosed. The price changed from what he told my on the roof while doing the diagnosis to when I was actually charged after the 20 minute service. This business is a JOKE. I use yelp frequently but never had a strong reason to submit a review until now. Basically, these guys tried to rip me off by trying to sell me a A/C part + installation for almost a $1,000. They charge only $50 to show up but will overcharge you for everything else. I had them leave because I had a bad feeling when they couldn't explain clearly what was wrong. I called a more reputable business in town and they said they would charge less than half the price for that specific part but stated the issue may be something else so I scheduled an appointment on the same day. So when the other A/C repair company arrived, the technician stated OAR Heating cut the wires to force me to buy an expensive part that I didn't need. The issue was something else and the quality service they provided was much cheaper and the A/C still works great now. These guys are crooks and tried to sabotage my unit but fortunately I didn't listen to their lies. Please consider my comments and if you're reading this I would let everyone know not to do business with them. read more

All started good then not so much... when you compare to other HVAC firms. Friendly and some good reviews but.... some truth to the other reviews. Our AC system stopped at a time of a heat wave and on a Saturday. We called around places to see about Saturday work. We reached OAR after reading the reviews and they were able to come that day later in the afternoon. They arrived about 1 hour late for the appointment but understandable based on the heat and work they must have had. We knew there would be a premium on the labor but the service call cost was reasonable ($45-50) to show up and diagnose. When they diagnosed the issue being a capacitor failure, Hasem said it was $325. We asked him if that was the part cost because it seemed pretty high he said it was.... Our mistake was not checking on-line right then on the part because it was $25. So the labor cost was $300 for the 30 minutes of work it took to put it in the unit????? So OAR charges $600 per hour labor????? After checking the part and inquiring from other HVAC companies about the charges for the same work, I reached out to OAR by email and phone. After emailing and calling for two days (and getting hung up on by Hasem when I asked to justify the costs charged), he said it was a FLAT RATE job. He would not break down the costs of the work in anyway. I told him that the 3 other companies I called on the Monday after the weekend all had part plus labor costs (for Saturday work premium rate) totaling the job at $150-175 max. We definitely would WARN people about OAR without getting a few quotes from other companies and fully knowing the FLAT RATE used by them. While they were friendly, we would not be a repeat costumer because EXPENSIVE compared to many HVAC firms. Live and learn....Be careful and warned. read more

So I call Ramon to come fix my ac because it was blowing warm air. He came with in 45 min. Idk what he did but the ac start capacitor started to smoke. He told me it was 375 dollars to get it fix. So we have him do it thinking that would solve the problem. I was at work while my mother was home. She said he put it in and say it work and told her to paid him which she did because she was in a rush herself. When i got home the ac was blowing warm air. So i called him again to come check the ac. He did and tried to charge me over 3000 thousand dollars!!!!! He a scam!!!! If you couldnt fix it why not say so? Than making us pay for one thing and than trying to charge for another service. The ac start capacitor was fine before he touch it. I do not know what he did because he keep telling me to go turn off and on the air conditioner. I also email him yesterday that he need to refund that money because he did not do his job, he ignore my messages. This man harassed my family using intimidation that was so evident the small children were questioning why he acted that way after he left. In addition to harassing my family he also was caught on video flipping us off, purposely littering on our front lawn, lying about the thermostat being broke after trying to charge me $350 even though the thermostat cost $14.99. He wrapped tape around a vent that could have been done better by a three year old and refused to show anyone that their was a hole to begin with. He also ripped the thermostat off the wall without permission and demands my wife give her a credit card instead of cash. I included some of his text messages and the tape he wrapped around my duct work. I also have his vehicle license plates, full name, contractor license and any information I need to turn him into the police tonight and report him to ever governing authority I can. While gardening in the backyard yesterday, I noticed that one of the vent covers from the rooftop air vents was on the ground next to me! Apparently, in the windy weather of the last few months, it loosened and flew off. Since it was a Sunday, all businesses were closed, but I was able to reach Hasem, at O. A. R. Heating and Air and he was ready and willing to come right out! Since no rain was in the forecast we agreed that Monday was soon enough, and right on time, he was here, and he replaced the vent hood for the right price! In the past, Hasem and his crew, have blown my vents out (including that dangerous dryer vent) and I've been most-happy with the work they've done. Our AC condenser went out yesterday and after a warm night without cooling I was worried about getting it repaired over a weekend forecasted to be 100 degrees plus. OAR was notified Sunday morning around 10am that we needed help and we needed it bad, as it was going to be over a 100 degrees for the rest of the week. This guy comes out. Told him I wanted him to check the fan. That's it. No force, but cooling. Fan. He comes out, tells me he needs to do maintenance. I said no, check the fan, nothing else. He asked for underhouse access. I opened the access point, he tells me he's not going down there today. I asked him what he was talking about, why did he come today to do nothing? He said he has to check all the ducting for obstructions. I showed him the vent within 12 inches of the unit had no force and neither did the whole house. If it were an obstruction, it would not affect the entire house, including the vent 12 inches from the unit. The problem is clearly the fan, which he refused to check. He wanted to get a guy over here and blow it out, tape all the joints, clean out all the ducts, and it would be $1200. I asked him will he guarantee that would fix the problem. He said, no, not if it's the FAN! That wold cost extra! That's when I told him to get out and don't bother coming back. NEVER do business with OARS Heating and Air! You'll regret it. read more

So my Air Conditioning went out right in the middle of that week Aug 11 to 17th, 2019 where it was over 100 degrees and in some cases almost 110 degrees during the day. Worst time imaginable. Of course, I am frantically calling around trying to get someone to come out. "Nope, sorry we are booked all the way through next week" were the responses as I was getting as I was calling all over the place. I did an online search and found O.A.R. and called them. By almost a miracle, Ramon told me he had some time to come out in the early evening and take a look at our Condenser Unit. He determined pretty much as I suspected that due to the age, it was done. He gave me an estimate and it was very fair. I then asked Ramon if it was possible to get anything done by next week. He told me to my surprise that he could get the unit by tomorrow afternoon, set up the new unit on the pad while letting the old coolant drain out. He would then come back the next morning and do the final hookup. He came back out right on time Friday morning and finished the final hook-up. Within a very short time, the system was running strong house was cooling down - what a relief! Ramon is one the nicest most ethical service persons I have run across and he has very strong HVAC system knowledge. Highly, Highly recommended. Would not hesitate at all to call him again.
