Had dinner here last night. Was a little disappointed. Had heard great things. Their kitchen was way backed up. It would have been nice if the server or better yet, the manager had told folks when they sat down so we knew what to expect. We weren't in any hurry just very hungry. We waited over 30 minutes for appetizers and another 20+ after that for our meals. Everything had good flavor, the mushroom Swiss burger was mostly bun. The tenderloin sandwich was delicious and large! The Reuben was mostly sauerkraut needs more meat. The whole hog had good flavor and lots of meat. Not a fan of cheese sauce, real cheese would have been better. Took cinnamon buns to go, meh. Brayden was our server, he was very nice, seemed new. Mixed up our tickets, forgot to add our cinnamon buns so he had to go back and ring those up. We will try again, hoping it was an off night. read more

Came here as part of my tour of Indiana pork tenderloin sandwiches. The meat itself held promise as it was reasonably thick and juicy, but the sandwich was marred by the breading and the garlic aioli. Breading included Drakes Fry Mix, which I've found to be too salty and having too much of an off-putting chemical smell/flavor. In addition, the garlic aioli was very intensely garlicky to the point that I thought it was horseradish at first; it overwhelmed the rest of the sandwich and threw the balance way off. Would be a solid sandwich otherwise if it were not for these issues. Service was friendly, and I really appreciated the staff answering my questions. Inspirational story too of how Oasis was saved, but the tenderloin could've been better. read more

I kept seeing ads for this place on Facebook, so I finally decided to give it a try. I won't be going back. Their photographer is better than their service or food. All of the advertisements I saw for this restaurant included their tenderloin. I figured this must be their most popular item, so that's what I tried. I ordered a tenderloin, french fries, and a vanilla cream soda. Pretty standard order- nothing fancy. It seemed to take a very long time even for my drink to show up at the table. When they delivered my food, the tenderloin was all that I got. I assumed the waitress would be back with my fries and the side of mustard and jalapeños that I ordered. I eventually had to flag down one of the servers to ask for the rest of my meal to arrive. When they brought the french fries and condiments I asked for a refill on my drink. I didn't get that until the end of my meal. By the time my french fries arrived they were stone cold. The tenderloin itself was OK, but nothing to brag about. It was very large. I cut it in half and stacked the two pieces on top of each other, and they were still larger than the bun. Unfortunately it seemed like every second or third bite had a lot of very chewy gristle in it. The breading was good but the bun fell apart almost immediately. I had to resort to eating my sandwich with a knife and fork (which I also had to ask for). I had to ask twice for napkins that were never delivered. The family at the table next to me received a large stack and they were kind enough to offer me a few of theirs. Based on the completely lackluster service, cold fries, a drink refill that never arrived, lack of napkins and utensils, and a tenderloin full of gristle, I won't be back. It was just an average meal at best. It doesn't deserve a second chance for my money. There are better options in and around Indianapolis if you want a good tenderloin. read more

I really wanted to love this diner. Its cute. Its local. Its unique... but it just wasn't good. My friend and I came in late-ish on a Saturday morning and we were seated immediately. We ordered a cinnamon roll, beignets, a burger and a sandwich. The cinnamon roll came out first and it was cold and stale. We didn't finish it. The beignets, although covered with powdered sugar, were also stale - and flavorless. They also went unfinished. My friend commented that she liked her sandwich, saying the Thai chili sauce that came on the side "made" it. My burger was quite disappointing, though. It was thin, flavorless, dry, and cold. It came with no condiments on it or on the side so I used my friends leftover Thai chili sauce to give it some kind of flavor. The onion rings I ordered to go with it were falling apart so I couldn't really eat them. I usually like to go somewhere a couple times before leaving a bad review to give it a chance, but the reality is, I don't want to come back. Sorry, Oasis, you missed me with this. read more

I've been to Oasis for breakfast and had a great experience. Came back for lunch today with my parents. We came around 2PM and it was slow. We were glad to get seated quickly and receive our food quickly. I got the BLT and Tomato Bisque, and it was phenomenal. My dad got the Club and it was a full sandwich and the fries were amazing! I'd probably call this a 2 star food review, but I'll give an extra star because we ordered through Door Dash, taking into consideration that the food traveled. I think I'm being pretty generous because the food arrived quickly and some of it was pretty hot. I don't think it suffered too much and was handled with care. Mushrooms and horseradish sauce were good, but I don't think they're whole mushrooms and that results in a lot of breading. These arrived piping hot and mostly crispy. (Vent your fried items, restaurants, or the food just steams). Onion rings were missing the promised sauce (sriracha ranch) and boasted a lot of raw onion. Generally lacking in seasoning/flavor. The disco fries are delicious, albeit a lil salty. Generous portion, too. The breaded tenderloin was pounded thin and was 2/3 breading. It really lacked in flavor, requiring me to add salt and pepper. The glossy bun was screaming to be buttered and toasted. The sweet potato fries were cold and soggy, which was fine. The burger hasn't been eaten yet (see generous portion of disco fries), but the slice of cheese wasn't even melted. It's resting on the burger like a freshly unwrapped Kraft slice. Again, the bun wasn't toasted. Portion of cole slaw is very generously sized. Haven't eaten that yet either. ETA: Business owner reached out to explain lack of affiliation with Door Dash, which I understand. However, placing the blame on an old menu is not a valid argument because everything I ordered is listed as current menu items on the Oasis Diner website. Bottom Line: If you totally eliminate Door Dash from the equation, the food just wasn't good. read more

Not sure what happened to this restaurant was there a few months back for the devour Indy and our sandwich was excellent so we tried it again yesterday and I had a Reuben sandwich which was extremely horrible/the meat was chunks and overcooked making it hard to Chew- We also ordered dessert the homemade pie selection which seem to be out of date when served my partner had hers à la mode and the ice cream couldn't have been any more than 2 tablespoons for two dollars extra I don't think we'll be back read more

This old school diner sits just off the main road in Plainfield, the retro authentic atmosphere is felt even before you make it into the parking lot. Once you enter you are greeted by a wall of Indiana license plates from 1954 through today. The old school tables and chairs keep that 50s diner theme going. The friendly atmosphere even between customers was felt while in during lunch. The food came out fairly fast, I went with the brunch burger and tater tots as my main and a slice of Dutch apple pie. The English muffin was fantastic and soft and nice and chewy, I was pleasantly surprised by this. The burger itself was eh-so-so. I was hoping for a little more juice with it, instead the patty was super dry. The egg and bacon were both very over cooked also. The tater tots though were hot and crispy and soft on the inside, aka perfection. The Dutch apple was sweet and had a great crust and crumb topping. The cinnamon sauce was not over powering and gave a nice mix to the apples. I could have eaten like 2 more slices it was so good! Overall pretty ok, when I come back I will go with more of the traditional breakfast menu, I think I will steer away from the burgers though with the disappointment of what I had today. A delight in every way! The 1954 exterior is in perfect condition, and so is the interior. Service was fast and ever so friendly. The food was delicious, a club sandwich, a chicken salad sandwich, and a Philly cheese steak all accompanied by hot perfect fries, the best I've had in a long time. Their own root beer is highly recommended. Portions are abundant but not exaggeratedly so, which added to the overall charm of the place. read more

So to start I would give the service today a 2 based on the overall experience. We probably arrived just before 2 and got seated quickly but trying to flag someone down to just get started with a water was a hassle. 2 girls just standing around and one finally wandered over when a young gentleman came by to take over. He was very apologetic and he seemed to be doing all the work as he was hopping and we never saw the others. The diner was not busy and one couple ended up leaving. Our food took forever as well it was about 2:30 when it finally came out. Luckily the food was good so I would give that a 4. My mother had the fried tenderloin and really enjoyed it. Thank goodness since this place was my choice as other reviews were good. Hers came with potato salad which was tasty. I ordered the black bean veggie burger and I know what to expect with these. It was good and the sauce on it gave the burger a nice flavor. I had the coleslaw and it was nice and creamy so overall I was happy with my choice. The diner is adorable. I am typing this as I am still eating. OMG!! This food is FIRE! I'm not a huge pop drinker but wanted to try one of their handcrafted sodas. I got the Vanilla Cola... BANGIN. For my meal, I ordered 3 pancakes with cheesy hash browns with onions on the side. The hash browns were tasty and the pancakes are about the size of my head. They came out hot and cooked perfectly. Great food, good portions, cheap prices. Breakfast all day. I had the Indianapolis chicken fried chicken and it was big enough to get its own plate. Covered in delicious gravy it comes with potatoes, a biscuit, and 2 eggs on the side. Corned beef hash is excellent with shredded corned beef and big chunks of potatoes. The avocado toast had good flavor as well. Finished everything off with a large piece of pecan pie. Pecans were super fresh and the overall experience was excellent. Large (but not gigantic) hand pounded breaded pork tenderloin served on a brioche bun topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle & garlic mayo. Was happy to see the Pork itself was thicker than its breading with a nice seasoning incorporated. I did not think I would like the garlic mayo so I got that on the side. It was actually very good. If you want a classic old school diner experience, the Oasis Diner is the place to go. My wife and I went for the first time after dropping off relatives at the nearby Indianapolis International AirPort on Mother's Day. Yes it was crowded on a holiday at noon, but the wait for a table was short. There was plenty of room at the counter if you wanted to sit on the iconic stools. We had a cozy 2 person micro booth, which felt right in this diner environment. I was impressed at the extensive menu for breakfast or lunch in such a small place. We had a friendly server who recommended the breaded tenderloin for a first timer. Our booth neighbor right next to us, who came here from Evansville, agreed with her recommendation. We started with breaded mushrooms as we were warned it would take a little longer to prepare our lunch on the holiday weekend. They were delicious paired with the mild horseradish sauce. The tenderloin was massive on a hamburger bun, almost comical in appearance. The fries and onion rings were tasty, complimenting the entree perfectly. Needless to saw we filled 2 carryout containers for lunch the next day. By the way, these warmed up nicely in a toaster oven and didn't get soggy if put in a microwave. Our waitress was very kind and was great. Came with my boyfriend and brother for breakfast while visiting. We ordered the chicken fried steak with toasts, eggs, and home fries, also the strawberry French toast with a half order of biscuits and gravy and a bacon breakfast sandwich. The portion were big and everything was hot and fresh. The gravy was delicious, thick and perfect. Had the "breaded" tenderloin with fries. The fries were good. The tenderloin was not. It was dipped in a corn dog style batter instead of being breaded. The batter sealed the tenderloin in and steamed it, then the breading came loose and the whole thing was a mess. It didn't really taste that good either. The brioche bun was cold, hard, and stale. The lettuce was limp and being on the bottom of the sandwich, was totally cooked and grease soaked. The red onion looked like it had been around a while and they should have taken one more layer off when they peeled it. The service was a little slow for a lunchtime service. The menu looked pretty good, and I might try them again, but I'll skip the tenderloin sandwich. read more

This is a cute little old school diner that was recommended by a friend. Very happy that I came here and will definitely be back when I'm in the area again. I opted for the oasis burger and sweet potato fries. The burger was HUGE! It has bacon, pulled pork, coleslaw and bbq on it. Very juicy and yummy! I also had to get a piece of the strawberry rhubarb pie but had to get it to go as I was just too full from my burger. When I got back to my hotel I had to try it! Delicious! It has a strawberry and rhubarb filling and a sweet brown sugar and oat crumble on top. Amazing! They are known for their tenderloins and they did not disappoint! I had the Indianapolis country fried breakfast and it was more than enough! Great portion sizes and great prices. What a great little diner. I arrived in town and had time to kill before my room was ready. So I looked around on Yelp for a suggestion that offered the "Yelp Cash Back". I found the Oasis diner. Looked and felt like a diner right out of the past. Long counter with red padded stools and plenty of booths. I was greeted by the nicest server. She asked how my day was and did it with a big smile. I ordered the club sandwich and a side of peas and carrots. The sandwich was very delicious and put together well. Plenty of meat and cheese, and the bacon was perfectly crisp. Veggies were hot and not over cooked. One thing that stood out to me, was after I was done and walking out, I was stopped by an older gentleman that I assume was either the owner or the manager. He asked me how everything was and how my day was going. Here is the thing.. I could tell he wasn't just asking to be professional, I could tell by his voice and tone that was was genuinely interested. You don't get that much anymore. It was nice. Was so excited to try this place, but unfortunately had a below average experience today. Place itself it really cute, like an old-school diner. I ordered soup (stuffed pepper) and salad (wedge) with side of rye toast, bf got soup (chili) and BLT combo. My soup was really tasty, but lukewarm. The chili was lukewarm as well, not served with cheese or onions, and tasted like out of a can. My 'side order' of toast was a HALF slice of bread, then cut into two quarters. ?! Plus it was soggy. Finally, the service was pretty bad - they weren't that busy and had plenty of waitstaff, but our server was never around. We heard the table behind us have to reorder two times because they didn't get what they ordered. The redeeming quality was the heavenly piece of peanut butter pie we got to share for dessert. SO good!!! Very nice selection of homemade pies and cinnamon rolls; I'd come back just to sit at counter for pie and coffee. read more
