I'm not sure why there are so many raving reviews for this place. We stopped in based off of the reviews and were disappointed. The food was flavorless and nothing to rave about. We ordered two "sandwiches" and the portion of meat they give you in the sandwich is lacking for the price they charge AND it doesn't come with a side. Sides are extra. There were probably 5 very small pieces of lamb in the sandwich. I am still trying to figure out how they have so many great reviews. Seems like they are bots. We told our server that we wanted top eat quickly and get back on the road. She got our food to us in a few minutes. It was hot, fresh, delicious and a good value! I wanted a salad which she packed up to go for me. The restaurant also has a bunch of sweets (Turkish delights and other treats) you can purchase. Just a little gem in the southwest!! I just pulled up all restaurants on yelp near me while on a road trip through here. I am so glad I stopped here for lunch. What a wonderful little surprise. We stopped here while traveling because of reviews on Yelp. When we walked it it was a little confusing if we were supposed to order at the counter or table. The decor seems a bit tired, but clean. Eventually we were told to choose any table. The service seemed quite slow for the number of customers who were there, but when we did eventually get our meal it was very tasty. I had the Oasis Salad which was huge! I took 1/2 of it with me in a box and finished it that same evening! My husband had the burger (on pita bread) and fries. He said the beef tasted a bit unusual but it may have been the seasoning. (He's a Ks cattleman and normally only orders hamburgers). So mixed reviews from this couple. A surprising find on our way through Gallup. We've never dined on the Palestinian variant of Mediterranean, and the flavors are just a little different than the Lebanese and Turkish we've dined on many times. That said, excellent food. The lamb shish kebab is tender, with good quality lamb. The baba ghanoush, hummus and falafel were also really good. It's not surprising this place has a 4.8 rating. read more

In all my travels, it's not often that I run into restaurants with 5 full stars so I had to come see what the hype was all about. And MAN! I am glad I did. The food was exceptional. Chicken Gallaba was so flavorful! Hummus was a nice creamy consistency, Baklawa was just the right sweet, not too sweet. Paired with the Turkish Coffee, whew... the Turkish coffee is very tart - so be prepared for that, but the flavors. Service was great, three young women always smiling, nice, friendly running around cleaning off the tables, taking payments at the counter, helping the walk in guests with picking up their orders, and yet still didn't neglect my water cup, it was always refilled just as or just before it was emptied. I don't know what to say here. We were just stopping in this little town for lunch on our way to someplace else. I mean how much can you expect from a random place kinda in the middle of nowhere. Apparently you can expect a whole helluva lot. I mean this was actually one of our best dining experiences (cheap eats) of the entire year. And like others mentioned, it doesn't look like much. Obviously a family affair, with the chicldren in the restaurant to prove it... But the food... OMG the food! From the shish kababs to the shawarmas to the desserts. I have been through Gallup many times over the years but never went through during a meal time. This time I was staying there and looked at Yelp for a dinner idea close to the hotel. I was amazed to see a Mediterranean restaurant in the area with such great reviews so had to try it. We were not disappointed! Everything we ordered was very, very good & fresh. We started with the Baba Ghanouj and for an extra $3 she brought me a dish with sliced cucumber & cherry tomatoes since I cannot eat wheat. We shared the Shawarma Chicken next which I thought was so yummy! It comes with the yellow basmati rice, pita bread & salad. My husband had to get some baklava but he wasn't overwhelmed with it. For GF people she offers 2 flavors of gelato and I got the fruit one versus the chocolate. It was very good! We eat here every year when traveling from Ohio to Arizona. It's a meal we truly anticipate! I have to be gluten free and the servers are very knowledgeable, I never have to be concerned about a reaction. Everything we've tried here has been delicious. Standouts for me are the hummus, the grape leaves, any of their salads, except fattoosh because it contains pita bread, and of course their delicious lamb, beef or chicken. The restaurant isn't fancy but it's very neat and clean with a good amount of seats, both inside and on their patio during good weather. Please try Oasis when you're in Gallup. The food was good, but the chicken swarms was not what I'm used to getting in Dearborn Michigan which has one of it not the biggest Lebanese population in the US. This restaurant was recommended to me by a friend several years ago. Every time I'm in Gallup, I make sure to eat here at least once, but sometimes I will come back for seconds. I've never had a bad experience. The staff is friendly and the food is amazing. I like the shawarma chicken, chicken shish kabab, and lamb shish kabab sandwiches the best. The desserts are delicious! My sister and I were traveling through NM and stayed over in Gallup. We were greeted upon arrival and our waitress was friendly and helpful. I ordered the hummos and it was just ok. To keep it healthy I asked for veggies which I was told they could give me tomatoes and cucumbers. The shawarma chicken was really good, and I loved the seasoning on it. Everything was cooked fresh to order. The rice had a good flavor as well. I did not care for the Taziki sauce, just like with the hummos I had better. I took my bawklawa to go and ate it later. It was really good as well and had a good amount of sweetness. The resteraunt was very clean, and there is an option for outdoor seating. All and all I was pleased with the food and the service and if I ever return to Gallup I would try this place again. read more

Never has a name been more apt- it is an Oasis alright. Driving I40 across the country, trying to eat a semblance of fresh, healthy food can be challenging. This was way more than just a Mediterranean food fix. We had a few of those along the way. This may be the best Mediterranean food I've eaten in a restaurant, ever.
