I have been going here for years so I thought I would give a quick review. Oberweis is easily one of the better dessert places in the suburbs of Chicago and has so much more than just ice cream. Their milk is also really good and it is my family's favorite. They have several unique ice cream options and have a great 3 for 1 ice cream deal when buying cartons. Dining in is a great idea as their inside is a great vibe for a group or friends or even with family. They have board games inside and chess boards set up at tables which is really unique and cool. Definitely go here for some great dessert options or to grab some milk for the house! read more

Their basic flavors remain relatively better than the closest competitors, HOWEVER, the under-trained personnel have no idea about the business, their responsibilities, or maybe just have not completed the corp required course, "dont act like an idiot." the menu is a jumble. inside the "regular" scoop flavors appear in kne area, below that in a skewed list is their "seasonal" flavors AND more are listed here and there instead of in a cohesive, easily understood menu. its rediculous. the empolyees are incapable of telling a customer (in the drive up lane, which is usually closed) what EXACTLY a "Frostbite" is. When i asked, i was told "its soft serve with stuff sprinkled on top." huh. i have tried several time to get an palate-acceptable dessert. FAIL every time. "wild berry" has an AWFUL bunch of terrible "dark chocolate chunks" in a mix of ARTIFICIAL-tasting strawberry bits mixed into what remotely tasted like their original ice cream. i can accept that i have to absorb the cost is todays economic environment if i am paying for the increase in ingredient costs OF GOOD PRODUCT but dont try to pass off crap and substandard add-ins" to increase your bittom line!!! Visited on 5/21/2026 (Thursday night). - Ice cream was good (an order of soft serve and a chocolate ice in a cream cup) - The place was super dirty. Tables were sticky and had visible ice cream stains, the floor was dirty, napkins on the floor, and the bathroom was disgusting. This places needs to close for one day and have a deep clean. - The "ambiance" was a "poor man's Oberweiss". The shelves were bare, the glass case had mugs in it instead of displaying Oberweiss treats, no ice cream displayed by the cash register. The chess table had no chess pieces. The place does not have the welcoming vibes one feels when one goes to Oberweiss. Will not go here again. Not recommended. read more

At first look, I'm impressed. This is a creamery, selling a variety of milk based products. It's famous for it's ice cream and that's what all 7 of my family members and I were here for. An after dinner treat! The place itself is sweet. Very bright and clean. It's attractive. The ice-cream itself is not great. It seemed to have a high fat content and left a "fat" taste in my mouth. They use this fresh milk and cream in their fountain treats. The farmers who supply their milk do not to treat their cows with rBGH Recombinant Growth Hormone. It says so on their ice cream cups. I had the chocolate with almonds and it was creamy and perfect. For less than $3.00 I got two huge scoops in a sugar cone. I had a bite of my friend's ice cream cake - it was like ice cream cake all mashed up - you could see bits of the blue frosting and circular sprinkles. So delish. So many flavors to choose from. Very disappointed in the manager Nicole. I get home Delivery every single week but cancelled it this week due to a vacation I am Leaving for in two days . Thus I walked in with my 7 empty glass milk containers and a black crate that I have had for a long time and use it when I forget to put my cooler on the front porch. She wouldn't give it back to me stating it's company policy. I said I have been a customer for a very long time and only reason I am here is to buy one gallon of milk and a some ice cream please give me the black crate back and she wouldn't . Just an okay experience when visiting this location. They were DEAD on a hot day around lunch time. No one was there. We couldn't get what we wanted because their soft serve machine was down. After reconfiguring our orders, we got our ice cream and left. For those who have not experienced Oberweis ice cream, it can be summed up in one word: heavy. Not heavy as in the toppings or mix ins etc just heavy as in -- super rich milk based heavy cream ice cream. It leaves an almost milky aftertaste especially in the vanilla based flavors. It's not as prevalent in chocolate. A milk shake is overkill for me, with the heavy ice cream, the thick milk added in, and a dense whip cream -- it wasn't good. Stick with a scoop of ice cream or a gallon of milk from a glass bottle when you come to visit! I highly recommend their milk because it is amazing quality. read more

I don't go out for ice cream very often, but when I do, Oberweis is the place to go in Bartlett. This location is tucked away next to Rt. 59 just south of Stearns Rd. It can be easy to miss if you don't know where it is. It is a stand alone building, but it shares a strip mall parking lot in addition to its own parking spaces. Walking in, you are engulfed in old fashioned malt shop aroma and oldies music. They have about 12 small tables, so you can sit down and enjoy your ice cream treats. Two of the tables are chess boards with the pieces set up. My wife and I like to spend a lazy afternoon eating ice cream and playing chess occasionally. But getting back to the ice cream... you order at the counter. They have the flavors listed on the wall menu, but the ice cream is not displayed to help you pick. I am a visual person, so I miss not being able to see the choices. Of course they have all the usual serving choices: multiple cone types, bowls, sundaes, malts, etc. I am a two scoops in a bowl kind of guy. The quality of the ice cream is excellent. It is dense and creamy and not too sweet... there is flavor beyond "sugar". I like the cherry ice cream and my wife's favorite is the coffee. Sometimes I get one scoop of chocolate chip and one scoop of mint chocolate chip, which is a tasty combination. This kind of quality does not come cheap, but hey you shouldn't be eating this stuff every day anyway. Just splurge once in a while, this ice cream is worth it. If you know about my water addiction, then you will understand that I appreciate the availability of cups by the drinking fountain, so I can refill at will. So my waistline doesn't want me to come to Oberweis for ice cream too often, but I will definitely be back. I scream for ice cream! read more

The ice cream is wonderful of course-I would highly recommend the mint chocolate chip ice cream but really of them are creamy and the perfect size for what you pay. I was a little disappointed when i purchased a cone from the drive thru...the ice cream in a quart container that my aunt had purchased for me prior tasted better (i bought the same flavor) and the portion/scoop for $4 was tiny. get a hand packed quart rather than a cone, it's more satisfying. read more

I would have given Oberweis 5 stars about a year and a half ago. I have watched the store become less friendly and dirtier ever since the old manager left. The employees don't seem as happy anymore. The ice cream is still delicious, but one of the main reasons I frequented this location before was for all of the smiling faces. I guess nothing good lasts forever. read more

Oooh, ice cream!!! And, it's really good ice cream too! This is an indulgent treat. And, I totally love it! Located in an easy to access strip mall, this particular Oberweis has a drive thru. I can swing by in my pj's at 9:30pm for a scoop and no one will know the difference. Well, the drive thru staff might notice, but they are too nice to say anything. They'll just scoop up chocolate peanut butter, put it in a cup with a sugar cone on top and smile as though this is a perfectly normal request from a lady in her pj's. Or maybe they will make my hubby a smoothie when he swings by in his slippers. I know they will look up my Moola Card with my phone number when I ask, so I can keep earning points for free ice cream. And, of course, they will give me plenty of napkins without hesitation. It's a little pricey, but it's not 31 flavors. We are talking about quality and I think it's worth it. Try a turtle candy sundae, a malt or even a kid's frostbite. They're all good! read more

This place is a godsend for me, definitely couldn't live without them. I work pretty late 6 nights a week and often get off ready to choke something. I'd been looking for something to perk up my mood before crawling into my house and I finally found it in Oberweis. I pulled in and found out that they are the only place around open later than we are. Lucky for me, the staff is very polite, even as the time gets closer and closer to close for them. I've known for a while that Oberweis makes some of the best dairy I've had, hands-down, so I HAVE to mention how great their ice cream is. It's always loaded with flavor and, in my case, big pieces of fruit. They have all the regular favorites, and a pretty big seasonal selection that's always fun to try. My favorite so far is the black cherry, but since fall is coming up, I'm going to have to find a new one to hold me until next summer. The place is always clean and has a nifty old-school atmosphere. I have been coming to this Oberweiss location since they first opened in Bartlett a few years ago. This is still Theee place for great tasting ice cream in my part of the hood. The facility is nicely layed out, bright and cheery and the décor is reminiscent of the 50's and 60's style ice cream parlors. The ice cream here are one of the creamiest that I have tasted, far better than Dairy Queen and other local nonfranchised ice cream shops in my neighborhood. But out of all the ice cream shops, this place is definitely the most expensive. Expect to pay close to $5.00 for 2 scoops of ice cream in a waffle bowl. Expect to pay this much for wonderful ice cream and friendly service. I also love their selections of waffle cones, some dipped in chocolates and candies, pair that up with your favorite ice cream, and ShaBang !!! You get a "better than sex" ice cream.....Mmmm Mmmmm Mmmmm. My favorite being a scoop of Dolce De Lece (caramel ice cream) and a scoop of Chocolate Almond inside a chocolate dipped waffle. read more

I went to the drive-thru late on a Thursday evening. I'd say there were no more than 4 cars ahead of me yet somehow I had to wait at least 15 minutes before I could even order. That is a ridiculous amount of time to wait for ice cream and I almost left. Finally I placed my order. I asked for a kids scoop in a regular cone but they didn't give me the total. When I get to the window, they ask me what my order is again as if they never entered it. I repeated, a kids scoop in a regular cone. They said that it was over $4. Considering I had gotten a kids scoop at a different location less than a week earlier and it was around $2.50 that didn't seem right but I had nothing to reference it and I was already pretty annoyed so I paid. They then hand me the scoop and there's about a half pound of ice cream on it. I asked the cashier again, "this is a kids scoop?" And he said yes. I ended up throwing most of it out. The receipt said a single scoop, not a kids scoop. So they charged me incorrectly and gave me the wrong order. It's only ice cream, it shouldn't be that hard. How many of you know Oberwise uses Masanto GMO corn and Masanto GMO soy to feed there cows.... I didn't... but, there own website states, they feed there cows corn and soy for protean... cows are not meant to eat this crap! Organic is the only way to go!!! Enjoy you're GMO milk!!! Generally this place is friendly and the ice cream, although expensive, is good. Only one other car in drive-thru and one customer inside this evening. So incredibly slow and when I pull up to window there are at least 5 employees standing around laughing. My order was completely wrong and they charged me for something I didn't order. Finally they "correct" my order and Credit my card back. First, the manager just wasn't very friendly and didn't even apologize, and to top it off they still gave me the wrong ice cream flavor. I ordered a scoop of espresso Carmel chip on a sugar cone. My cone arrived in a very soft and melty state upside down in a cup. If the ice cream is that soft, why would you offer to serve it in a cone. The scooper/ server offered to remake it, but wouldn't you remake it first and then serve it? There are two Oberweis' in my area and they are both very consistent with their service along with their ice cream dishes. This location I frequent with my family and they are usually very friendly and fast. Mostly teenagers work there and they are very nice and energetic which is refreshing. This location is very good at accommodating youth sports team that come in as well. read more

Remember how I told you Oberweis was a "sometimes food"? Yeah, apparently I was full of crap. I was back at an Oberweis three days later. It's like when the stupid producers of Sesame Street made cookies a "sometimes food" for the Cookie Monster. What a load of crap. You know he just thinks about cookies MORE now. Just like I think of a peanut butter shake more now that I said I wasn't going back for a while for another one! I feel as if I can justify it more, however, because my daughter drank half of my last one. So we drove up to this location so we could "share" another one (read: me slapping her hand away when she tried to pry it out of my fingers). So this has nothing to do with the ice cream, but I was walking in to get my milk, and in the dimly lit parking lot I can't see anything on the ground, and it's raining. As I'm walking in I step in not one.. not two.. but three pot holes. At this point my socks are half way soaked, so I get the milk, head back to the car, avoiding my previous path, but getting the same sopping wet result. Now my socks are completely wet to the point where I can barely get them off. (I had just put these socks on before I left the house.)
